About this house rental
3650 Sq. Ft. | 7 Bedroom Plus Bonus Room | Sleeps 17 | Direct Waterfront
Unwind at this stunning, direct waterfront, remarkable 3650 square foot, 7-bedroom+, 6-bathroom home, on the very tip of a private peninsula on Candlewood Lake, the largest manmade lake in Connecticut. This home is located across from Vaughn’s Neck, one of the very few remaining undeveloped pieces of property on Candlewood Lake, granting you complete privacy, with no neighbors across in sight, for a 5 mile stretch. This envied piece of property, surrounded by water on three sides, with unobstructed sunrises and sunsets, will have you falling in love, upon arrival.
Enjoy the lake and mountain views from one of the many balconies or perfectly curated outdoor areas. This beautifully landscaped oasis, with a private boat dock, also includes kayaks, paddleboards, plenty of water floats and rafts, fishing poles and the works! The home is fully stocked with linens, bath and beach towels, and kitchen supplies for all your needs. You can relax and barbeque on the deck or soak up the sun and take a dip on the lower patio, which wraps around to the outdoor bocce court, where you can enjoy a cocktail and some competition.
Candlewood Lake offers endless recreational activities including boating, water skiing, wake surfing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, fishing and our local Gerard’s Marina offers daily boat rentals for your enjoyment! Take the time to enjoy lakeside dining and drinks at Down the Hatch, accessible by land or water. In the winter months, when Candlewood Lake freezes, enjoy ice-skating, cross-country skiing, ice fishing or a hike.
This home sleeps 17 and is 1.5 hours from NYC. This impressive home also includes 4 master suites (1 located on first floor), balconies, outdoor kitchen, upper and lower deck/patio entertaining areas, playroom with darts, foosball and a billiards table. It is located near many fine restaurants, shops, art galleries, country fairs and more.
An idyllic setting for the entire extended family and their friends to come together, whether for an extended autumn weekend or, for the fortunate few, a holiday celebration. And the best part? Everyone can stay in one place, leaving the Thanksgiving traffic to those who procrastinated a bit too much. A Thanksgiving spent at Lands End is sure to be a topic of conversation for years to come, especially over that holiday bird.
The enchantment of this home during the holiday season and as the seasons change leaves an enduring and profound impression, making it nearly impossible for Lands End not to become the cherished hub for your family's most treasured moments. As an added bonus for some, the tales of your holidays, weekends, and all your moments at Lands End can become part of its history. Share your stories in the home's guest book, which already boasts fish stories dating back to the early 1970s!
Home has outside security cameras for your safety.

Amenities galore in this well equipped beautiful home! Everyone was happily entertained with the many water play options and many indoor games and activities. The dock and lake were frequently used by all as we also rented a pontoon boat. Wonderful location for our large family to spend time together!

This is a spacious and lovely house with an unparalleled location with direct access to the lake. We booked for a long weekend to celebrate a family member's milestone birthday. While the bedrooms are well-appointed the living room furniture is a bit outdated. The kitchen is very well-supplied.The grounds and landscaping are fabulous. House has a lot of equipment for enjoying the lake: kayaks, paddle boards, etc. and the dock made it very easy to enjoy a boat rental. Communication with property manager was easy before and during our stay. Would highly recommend for a summer stay.

I’m not sure I’ve ever had a rental property EXCEED expectations but this place did just that! The pictures on the listing simply did not do it justice. As we were walking through the house the first time, we kept finding new things we hadn’t seen in the listing. We were a group of four families - six adults, five kids ages 12-14 and an 8 year old. The house was absolutely perfect. Plenty of space for sleeping, eating and hanging out inside or outside. Lots of stuff to do: kayaks, paddle boards, pool table, dock, etc. The location right on the water is amazing. The kitchen is very stocked with the basics and full of dishes, ice maker (in the bar downstairs), etc. Also lots of towels for a day on the lake. My only *complaint* is the kitchen was so stocked we really didn’t have anywhere to store non-refrigerated food (but plenty of counter space enabled us to make the counter a pantry). There were no toiletries in the bathroom so make sure to bring those. Could not recommend this place enough. Our entire group agreed we would love to come back. Book it!!!

The location couldn’t be better, the house itself was perfect for a large group of multiple families with kids of all ages. Access to the main lake and a protected cove and placement on lake makes this one of the best properties on the lake. Management was responsive and very accompanying to requests and needs.
Some features of the house, mainly kitchen could have been modernized a little to match the level of what the rest of house was but all in all awesome house and a great long weekend. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

This house is in an incredible location, was spotless when we arrived, and was very well stocked. There was more than enough space at the house and our kids had so much fun on the lake and with all of the games provided. An A+ experience all around!

As other reviews mention, there is not enough room here to cover all that is great about Land's End. From the minute you walk in the front door, you are greeted with sweeping views of the lake and a wonderful open concept home with picture windows in every direction which make you feel like you are on a boat. The owners of this property have thought of every detail, so all you need is your bathing suit. The house is beautifully appointed with a"lake-themed" motif. There are old skis and preservers, a cool indoor "Mermaid" bar, fun wallpapers, and comfy bedding and towels to complete the look. There are also great photos of the owner's family and the evolution of the house through the years. There are many areas for your guests to gather and enjoy the beautiful surroundings but it also has generous bedrooms and other common areas so visitors can spread out at their leisure. The outdoor living spaces are also generous and you can partake in various lake activities including fishing, kayaking, swimming or you can just grab your favorite beverage and read a book in one of the many lounge chairs. One of our favorite locations was the outdoor bar equipped with beverage refrigerators and a retractable awning making the area usable rain or shine! We have rented many vacation homes over the years and this one is at the top of the list -- clean, cozy, comfortable and complete. If you have an opportunity to rent this amazing property, run don't walk, you won't regret it!

This can go on for pages but I will just highlight some of the best parts-
1) view is gorgeous as soon as you enter the house, and also from many rooms, and from the patio, and the yard, and the lakefront. Enjoy the sunrise and the sunset.
2) accessibility is good from the main roads. And many restaurants in the vicinity. Property is on a cul de sac so plenty of space to park vehicles and also for kids to play basket ball and pickle ball etc.
3) Hospitality is top notch. Welcomed by regular and timely communication leading up to the stay, greeted by small gift and handwritten welcome card, prompt response to any questions that came up during the stay. Detailed instructions in the booklet available online and hardcopy.
4) WELL STOCKED. everything. towels. toys. games. lifejackets, paddleboard and oars, kayaks.
5) High quality touches everywhere. pillows and sheets. decorative items in the bathrooms. the wifi system. the music system. patio furniture. Loved it.
6) Pool table. Fusball table. Dart. Board games. All of these in a large basement area where the kids can hang out. Enough room and spaces for many small groups to have private space even when there is a large party.
7) Lovely happy vibe of the place with pictures of how the house and property was before. The theme is sailing and fishing in decorations and books etc. Very tastefully done. Light and airy and happy vibe throughout.
You can tell, we loved the place and are already planning our next visit!
