I was a bit nervous in the days leading up to this stay knowing that it is a hotel without a traditional check in desk (not because I am against this, just if there are issues it could be difficult), and others have had difficulty locating the building. I couldn't be more wrong. The instructions were clear and easy. The building now has a sign. Check in was a breeze. My room was on the top floor which made it a bit difficult carrying my luggage after a long train ride, but the steps were to be expected and were described. The room was absolutely lovely and comfortable. I really couldn't have been more pleased with this stay.

The Jacobite provided a very central location. I had read recent reviews on the property which made me fear the worst but these were unfounded.
Firstly, the location is very central which, in my opinion, is what most people want from a holiday accommodation. The downside of this is noise from the street outside at night time. While this can get noisy if your apartment faces onto the street, how this impacts on you depends very much on when you want to go to sleep. If you go to your bed at 10.30pm then prepare for at least 90 minutes of street noise. If you don't go to your bed until midnight, then you won't be too bothered by this noise.
Hotels in Inverness are expensive! In comparison, the Jacobite was very reasonable for a 2 night stay. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. My only comment would be to be careful when using the small sink in the shower room. There is a glass ledge above this sink which you have to watch out for when bending down to brush your teeth and wash your face as it is easy to bump into it.
The staircase is normal size/width it is not overly narrow.
We were provided with an email 24 hours before we were due to arrive. This email provided clear instructions regarding access codes to main door and to the room.
All in all, we were more than happy with our choice for our two night break and would happily recommend it.

The stairwell is tatty and smelt horrendous. Felt like it was a challenge to enter our room with all the key pads. The cost was far too much in comparison to other loxal hotels. The bedroom was tatty and needs painting. The window did not close once opened. The TV required personal log in. Exceedingly basic - no luxury at all.

Great location to explore downtown Inverness. Property worked well for a one night stay. Room was clean and tidy. No staff on premises, you are provided email instructions on how to get access to the property.

Very difficult to find. No designated parking. Room was clean and comfortable but extremely small.

Great location within the city to explore and walk around. The room was a bit small and the bed was very uncomfortable. There wasn’t any air conditioning and the window didn’t open enough to allow much air flow, so it was pretty warm.
The place was very clean and cleaning team very kind!

This was a great place to stay and if given the opportunity, I would gladly stay here again.

Bit of a mixed bag. If youre coming to Inverness for a night out (stag party etc) and youll have a few drinks, this would be a really convenient place to lay your head. Unfortunately, we just wanted a good nights sleep after 10 hrs of driving and the street noise made it impossible. The bars were really noisy until 1am and then the dustbin truck came at 6am. The matress is also very much in need of replacing as its completely sunken in where youre supposed to lay.
Good aspects are the shower was great, easy self check-in and very central location but only managed about 4 hrs sleep.

The location of the propety was very convenient and the room was clean and tidy.

They didn't send us the check-in instructions, so we had to contact them through Expedia. They gave us the wrong instructions, and we ended up in someone else's room. I don't recommend it.

I only took off a star because this room was on the very top of 3 flights of a narrow winding staircase. I think that if my neice wasn't with me, it would have been WAY harder to get up to our room. It was pretty confusing to get to where we needed to go, as the instructions weren't clear and we thought that we were to go to the first floor room to get the security key, when it was in fact the 3rd floor. The room stated that we were to have a king sized bed, but it was actually a queen. The room was clean. There was a hot water heater and a fan, which was really nice. The bathroom was small, but OK. The 4 rooms on each floor have a shared full kitchen that you can use. It was helpful to have a full fridge and something to reheat food. The place was hard to find, as it was a random door between two shops, surrounded by construction scaffolding with a very tiny sign indicating where it was. However, the location was great if you wanted to be near shops and pubs. Very very walkable.

We stayed two nights July 3 and July 7 at the Jacobite House as part of our tour of Orkney. The accommodation was perfect for our needs. It was close to the railway station and the pick-up point for Rabbies Tours, and other parts of the town. It was a bit difficult getting to the 3rd floor with our suit cases but the rooms were clean and comfortable. We did have a bit of difficulty in getting the passkey information due to our email connection but everything worked out well. All in all a great experience and highly recommended for other travelers but not those with mobility problems. Thank you.

Quite alright for one night, we stayed 3. Noise from pubs'n restaurants in the evening, and room was warm so we wanted windows open. Hard bed, but seems normal in scottish acomm. Kitchen nearby and kettle in the room was great.

We liked our room. It was nice and clean. It was a bit hot, so we had the window open at night. There are a lot of pubs nearby, and it does get very noisy with the window open. This made it difficult to sleep, as we had to either endure the heat or the noise. This could be improved by providing fans. Having to go up and down 3 flights of steep steps was also a lot for us. The location is convenient and near a Co-Op and restaurants though.

Was perfect located, maby a bit to pricey for the size of room and what u get for it, but nice place

Easy access to train and bus station and shopping. Can be a quite loud area since it is near and above bars and restaurants. Also, be aware there are many stairs if you are elderly or disabled.

Was a bit noisy … lots of noise from young people leaving the pubs!

Very central & convenient as we were catching a bus next morning.

We were not able to stay at the property because our room was not cleaned from previous when we self-checked in at 4pm and were not able to get anyone on the two phone numbers connected to the listing.
Hotels.com agent told us to book a different hotel and we never got a refund because the Jacobite didn't approve it.
Really surprised by the service from the hotel and Hotels.com

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Jacobite House. Our room was very clean, quiet and had all of the amenities we needed. The staff were also very friendly and quick to respond to any questions we had. Additionally, house is located in a very central location, which is easy to walk to everything. My only comment would be that the bed was a little hard for our taste and it is a hike up some steep stairs with your suitcases if that is difficult for you. Overall though I would definitely recommend the Jacobite House.

Close to the train station. Lovely rooms. Friendly responsive staff.

Great location! A little noisy since there’s a really fun bar across the street. They send the check-in info via WhatsApp, so look for it there. Bumped into the owner and she was really nice!

Room was clean and comfortable. Location of the hotel very convenient. People working in the hotel were very nice and helpful.

Beautiful rooms and well kept building. Close to the train station - super convenient.

The room and shower facilities were fine for one night. Bed mattress could do with being replaced but room was generally clean. Had to call to get lock box access as it was not working and staff responded to the call and resolved issue. Don't expect too much and you will not be disappointed, which is why we rated average and fine for one night. Did not use separate kitchen facilities so can't comment on that.

A little difficult to find (just a single door at street level) and a climb up 4 flights of stairs to reach the apartments, but once there the room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Had to park a few blocks away, but other than that the location was excellent, a few steps from numerous bars and restaurants.

Wonderful stay at the Jacobite House! Location was perfect, rooms were cozy & clean, and the owners & staff were incredibly kind and so helpful. I would absolutely stay here again!
