We had no bath plug or shower curtain either, they did come quickly to put the shower curtain in, but we still had no bath plug. We then had to be moved to another room from a twin to a large double, due to the room we were in which had a bug infestation all over the beds and at the back of the beds all up the wall.
There were people hanging around at the front of the hotel smoking naughty substances.
We were promised a free nights stay for the inconvenience but I am yet to recieve a call or email to confirm it.

Nice reception area but a bit lifeless. Good size rooms. Did ask for extra pillows but the didn't arrive! Easy free parking.

The door to the room had obviously been damaged before preventing auto closure. Wall paper peeling off the wall. TV didn’t work properly. Disturbance at 11:30pm with shouting and bang on a door and calls to contact police. Eventually settled down but not without disturbing sleep.

Very poor. Stains over the walls, peeling wallpaper, very tired and old. Hotel appeared to be shared with non paying guests from local services. These people were smoking at the front entrance constantly and could be heard shouting and swearing at staff

The room was so dirty. Luckily there was fresh bedding but there was a dead moth on the wall. The bath had not been cleaned it still had hair in from the people before. The was stains all down the walls and doors. I would not stay here again. It was very disappointing

Just awful 😞 a large empty car park except for one car and a smashed glass bar door covered up with a piece of plywood greeted you when you drove in. It spoke volumes really. We checked in which was pleasant enough by a helpful young man, and checked out again 5 minutes later.
Not a good sign when the cleaning team were still cleaning the bedrooms at 4.30pm. But the main thing was the overwhelming smell of the corridors and the rooms was enough to make your eyes water and you could still smell it long after you had left. A heady combination of Jeys fluid and a woody 1960s hippy joss sticks aroma. Made you feel quite sick and headachy to be honest. There was no escape, it was everywhere.
On folding back the duvet there was brownish paper flecks (?) on the white sheet, no idea what they were.
Then in one of the dressing table draws there was drugs paraphernalia, used cigarette ends, shreds of baccy, one random playing card and white powder residue 😱 we shut the drawer and decide to check out of there.
When we told the young guy on reception, he was most apologetic and offered us to change bedrooms to some downstairs, but we politely declined and we’re heading towards the door by this point.
We were looking forward to our stay there but it just wasn’t for us. The owners had really tried but I think it’s a continuous money pit for them.
It might be cheap if you are watching the pennies and want somewhere to crash for the night, but definitely not cheerful.

The 'hotel' is not really fit for regular visitors. We appeared to be the only 'guests'- there were a few, very poorly dressed Asian men around who clearly spoke no English. Breakfast ( which we declined) was white sliced bread, some sort of butter- substitute spread and a PGtips T bag. We were told there was a kettle in the corner. It was all extremely odd. All other facilities- bar, fitness room etc were decaying behind closed doors.
On the plus side, the 2 male staff members who dealt with us were pleasant, polite and brought us extra pillows, towels and a blanket. Possibly these should have been provided in the first place. The bed was reasonably comfortable and the room fairly clean- though had clearly sen better days. No hairdryer, no glasses- just very, very basic.
I would advise caution to anyone thinking of staying there. We only stayed our 4 nights as we had a relative close by so only used the room to sleep.

The hotel was a bit dated but staff were very friendly and efficient.

Good location. Very good staff.

The hotel was terrible. It was dirty, the sink had not been cleaned and the towels had stains on them. The door would not close without slamming it leading to the wall being damaged. The draw was broken also.
There was also a constant stop and start vibration noise which woke me at 6:30am and was so irritating I could not sleep.
The hotel was cheap however this does not justify it being dirty and having damages.
Awful place, would never stay there again!!

Decor is a little bit tired, mostly clean although the shower head hadn't been cleaned in a long while. Staff were pleasant and helpful but have the air of someone that had been dragooned in to manning the desk due to wearing tracksuit bottoms and a puffer jacket. Quite quiet, and the bed was comfortable. Tea, coffee and kettle in the room. WiFi and mobile reception was not good. It was fine for my needs and I slept well.

Unfortunately we decided not to stay the night , on returning to the hotel at 11 ISH there was a group of people in a huddle that looked like they were taking drugs and on entering the corridor near our room there were drugged up people wandering around like zombies , this is obviously a half way house for homeless people and should not be selling rooms to public , avoid if possible

Room was clean & tidy. Other than checking in never saw anyone. Would have been good to know is housing asylum seekers. No bar or breakfast

The hotel building is in obvious need of renovation but our family room was warm and clean. The beds were comfortable. We just wanted somewhere to shower and sleep so it suited our needs and we were not disturbed by noise. We did not want corn flakes for breakfast so we went to Morrisons and had a full English for £6 .

When we arrived the room was nice clean and tidy. Only 2 pillows on double bed whicb were flat. Would have been better with 2 pillows on each side of the bed as they were so flat.
Was kept awake till around 2.30am with the squeeling of other guests in nearby rooms who kept running up and down the corridors.
Bathroom and shower were brilliant

Outdated and facilities dreadful. Shower not working, no staff on reception!

This hotel has the potential to be nice, but sadly it isn't. When walking into reception to the smell of cigarette smoke our stay didn't start very well. I don't know if the hotel allows smoking but if it does then its the kind of place that attracts people who aren't very considerate the others. The smoke continued to find us during the night through the bathroom extractor fan.
The room itself looked ok on the surface but its dated and has not been modernised - e.g no plug sockets by the bed. It wasn't that clean with other peoples hair still lying around. Turning on the bathroom light was followed by 2 minutes of strobe lighting from a dodgy bulb. After a few visits we gave up and left the light on all night.
The bathrooms really let things down further. The doors stuck and were too big for the frame. They had to be slammed hard to shut. I know our room wasn't the only one with this issue as I was woken up by other guests slamming theirs several times. The shower was terrible. The temperate gauge did nothing but spin around pointlessly and the pressure was just a trickle.
We could see through open doors that some communal areas and reception spaces were under going renovation but they didn't look like full strips and refurbs, more a quick cheap facelift that isn't going to last.
If I had to find a positive the biscuits with the tea and coffee were nice. I do hope the money starts coming in so this hotel can be given some much needed love and attention.

This place is in an advanced state of disrepair. Cheap, but not at a point to say great value for money.

I recently stayed at the Carlton Park Hotel on a business trip to the area to photograph an Engagement ceremony in the area.
The only reason I have given 4 stars for the 'Property condition and facilities' is because it is a work in progress and the staff are working extremely hard to restore the Hotel to it's former glory after being closed and vandalised for nearly 2 years.
The hotel has only reopened it's doors to guests a month ago after being purchased by a chain of hotels and work is underway to upgrade everything in and around the hotel.
My stay was very enjoyable and Ali and the team ensured that everything was perfect about my time there. The room was very spacious and comfortable with fresh linen, plenty of storage space, an iron, fan, tea/coffee facilities, TV and free WiFi.
The reception area was always maintained to the highest standards and there is fresh carpeting, painting and decorating throughout the accommodation.
There is plenty of parking and a Tesco Express nearby and the hotel is only a 10 minute drive to the centre of Rotheram.
Once all the Reception rooms, bars and restaurant, indoor swimming pool, gymnasium and garden areas are restored, the hotel is going to become another fantastic hotel and venue for Rotheram visitors.
I definitely recommend the hotel if you are looking for a quiet, friendly and comfortable stay at very affordable prices.

Check in wasn't great as there were no staff on the reception desk. Overall the rooms were fine and clean. There was a strong smell of cannabis being smoked in the hotel which was not great as my young daughter was staying too. No breakfast available on site, no information in the rooms about check out time etc Could only find two plug sockets per room.

We were only there overnight in the area for a birthday party the following day. The reception staff were very friendly on arrival. The beds were very comfortable. However in the morning when showers were needed there was no hot water not even warm and no one in our party of 5 could get the internet to work.

Second night in the property and I’ve found the rooms very comfortable during this heatwave. Will try to book another night

Sardar Ji - the main manager of this property is the most welcoming host you ever could wish to meet. The rooms are spotlessly clean and nothing is too much trouble for him - he puts a lot of time and effort into running this property and for that I have ultimate respect - highly recommended
