About this cottage rental
Enjoy magical sunrises and sunsets views from our beachfront house! To walk to the beach, you can hop over the dune or walk on the brand new beach access boardwalk.
We have a Queen Size bed in the master bedroom, Full size in second bedroom and a bunk bed (sleeping two) in third bedroom. The living-room has two sofas and if needed we have two full size inflatable beds.
There are 3 TVs, Wi-Fi and parking that is just outside your door.
This is an older home that has been renovated and modernized. Ideal for the beach-lovers looking for a cost-friendly option to vacation or travel with a longer term stay.
The Dune House is one of the last remaining beach houses built during the 1940's so this may not be for everyone. It had many upgrades which include: new walls, AC units, fresh paint throughout both inside and out. If you are looking for modern perfection, this may not be for you. Our pictures are accurate and show the home as it is. We have tried to make it a cute, comfortable and an economical place for small families or couples to enjoy our beautiful Chesapeake Bay Beaches.
Parking is right in our property but you will have to drive on grass to get to it.
We are next to the beach but the dune blocks our view, for a great view just walk 10feet on top of the dune.
We have good size back deck which is a perfect place for outdoor dining and relaxing.
The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, silver, pots/pans, cups and glasses and will allow for cooking family meals. We have a dining table that could sit seven.

Everything about our stay was perfect! Response to any texts were withing minutes and the property was exactly as stated. It was also very well stocked including coffee and laundry detergent. Very roomy and comfortable with good proximity to the Naval Base. We would certainly stay again.
Hints: Have Uber pick up at the Surf Motel next door since that's where they end up anyway.
Shower in the master has good hot water capacity.
Walk the beach! It's beautiful with gentle waves and sand doesn't get too hot.

I booked this beach house for myself, my 2 teenage boys, and my 2 parents (80+) and their dog. The location was great with the on-site beach access for me and my boys. The old folks were unable to navigate the dune or the stairs. Fortunately, 2 minute's drive away (21st Bay St.) was public beach access that was flat, so it all worked out. We cooked all but two of our meals in the house and found most of what we needed was provided (I did buy a sharper knife and a cookie sheet that I left there). I get the feeling that many guests also pay it forward like this. I really appreciated the 2 cold ones, and the high end chocolate bar, left in the fridge (by the proprietor or a previous guest, not sure) after 2 long days of driving. The house was clean and the remodel is charming. Appliances are new. You will notice some things slightly amiss with the house, but, in a way, that made it seem like home, gave it some character, and caused me to feel some affection for the place. Hot water tank isn't very big, so we planned and staggered our showers. Instructions were clear and easily noticeable. Magurel was great with communication and some help when we asked. The week was quite relaxing and just what I'd hoped. The price point was exactly right. Would stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay,. we came for the close proximity to the beach and beach is what we got. We stayed for a week and it rained all day on our last day fortunately beach house had a variety of steaming services on TV caught on show and more.Host was easy to work with and attended to any issues that pop up.

Overall it was a cozy stay. We enjoyed the location being so close to the beach and prefer Norfolk over Virginia Beach due to it being way less busy. However it was not well air-conditioned and the room the kids slept it was over 90 each night because the air unit was not working and if you do laundry the dryer vent goes straight into that room. The living area also got pretty warm. If we kept the two bedroom doors shut they stayed cool so we could sleep well in those rooms. I was a little unsure about the location just with it being right next to a motel and I hadn't realized that at the time of booking. The home was well cleaned and ready for us upon arrival. I also appreciated the outdoor area with beach items and sandals for use while we were there and the brushes to help get sand off when we returned.

Great location. Small but perfect for close friends and family. Water heaters are small but manageable with quick showers. Overall a great place to stay and great communication with property owners. Would and will definitely stay again.

The location to the beach was a few steps away, provided a good view to watch the sunrise. The amenities were ample and roomy enough to host a family at a reasonable price. Restaurants were within a short drive away if you need anything.

Super clean and nicely appointed inside. Beach is right over the dune out back. Host was very responsive - immediately replied to text. Will visit again.

Not the fanciest place in town, but was a fair price for what we had. Had toys and games for the kids, even some toys for the pup. The house was equipped with everything we needed except a canopener, which it now has😁. Host communicated well. Wasnt thrilled to be on camera everywhere i went outside but things certainly could have been worse. Host was accomodating and allowed us to check in early.
