About this cottage rental
Lying in a quiet setting just a mile from Charlbury, The Fold offers the best of both worlds. A place to stay surrounded by countryside, with glimpses of the valley beyond, the acid yellow fields and the air filled with birdsong, yet with myriad attractions close by. Inside you'll find vaulted ceilings and pale walls, all adding to the feeling of calm with vibrant pops of colour from modern art and pretty textiles. The sunny terrace tucked away at the back of The Fold is a place to linger over your morning coffee as you ease into the day with the sounds of the wind in the trees as your backdrop. It's also a lovely spot for alfresco dining.
The Fold is on one level with an open-plan kitchen, dining and living space. To one end, the well-appointed kitchen features everything you need for a self-catering stay, whilst the reverse of the kitchen island doubles as bench seating for the dining area. The other end is given over to the cosy living area with a plump sofa, comfy wingback chair and a Smart TV. Beyond are two pretty bedrooms, one king size and one twin and the bathroom.
A gravel path leads around The Fold from the front door to the rear where against a backdrop of the neighbouring woodland, you'll find a private terrace with rustic outdoor furniture. A wooden table and chairs offer a spot for outside dining and drinks, and the potted olive trees add a hint of the Mediterranean. It's a very peaceful place to sit and relax. To the front of The Fold is parking for 1-2 cars.

A pleasent stay. Thanks!

Great location, lovely properly next to owners home. only downside was on check in both the bed and sofa were covered in dog hair. The owners were prompt to address and extremely friendly. Disappointing that bolt hole retreats were not available by phone or email when I had the issue and alerted them around 5pm on check in, and they did not reply until late the next day and didn’t offer any discount on cleaning fee to subsidise for the inconvenience.
Apart from that lovely property, fab location very peaceful.

The cottage was very clean and well presented. The location was perfect for exploring all the Cotswolds have to offer, whilst being away from the main tourist areas providing a very tranquil and relaxing environment. We would stay here again in the future.

We travelled from London for a short 4 night midweek stay with our dog Skip. The small cottage was perfect and we loved it. There was plenty of space onsite to walk him. It’s well located for local facilities, hike routes and general site seeing. We will definitely come back here again.

Had a really lovely stay at the Fold with my partner and dog. Very clean and well kept. Plenty of room with open plan kitchen living area. Short countryside walk into Charlbury town.

The Fold is just the right property for a stay in the Cotswolds. It's spacious, very well equipped and comfortable, with high ceilings and under-floor heating. The house is neatly placed with its own short driveway off the one for the main house and backs on to woodland. It's a 10- minute stroll into Charlbury.

What a fantastic find The Fold has been!
We stayed here during a long weekend in the Cotswolds. Conveniently located between Chipping Norton and Blenheim Palace, The Fold is only a stone's throw away from Charlbury, home of two fabulous new pubs / restaurants, The Bull and The Bell. We had dinner at the latter with two small kids and had a lovely time here, highly recommended.
The converted barn itself is stunning, beds were super comfy and the spacious bathroom boasts a large double bath, perfect to relax after a day exploring the beautiful nearby countryside. There's also a lovely little terrace to the side of the property which we took advantage off for breakfasts outside in an unseasonably warm October weekend.
All in all a fantastic time. Thank you Laura and Bolthole Retreats. We loved it.

We really enjoyed our few days here and it was a great base to explore the Cotswolds. The house was very comfortable and welcoming. One issue was It was difficult to manage our dog in the garden from wanting to explore further afield! Some containment would be helpful and a little more privacy. Overall a lovely place.

Wonderful stay. It’s been done up beautifully with extra touches… linen sheets, dog bowls and treats

We had a wonderful 4 days staying at The Fold, a lovely quiet setting in the grounds of a large house. Great spot for exploring the area.
Cottage feels very new and clean, everything you could need is provided, the beds are ridiculously comfortable and don’t get me started on the bath tub!
Owners were very quick to respond when we requested a high chair too.
Thanks Laura & Jonathan!

We stayed for 3 nights and it was perfect.
We received a kind and friendly welcome, with a sweet note and flowers on the table. When we messaged we received quick and friendly replies, we were even given the heads up about a hot air balloon landing. I felt it was family friendly and would like to return.
The place was clean and beautifully decorated. The kitchen had all the utensils needed, although we didn't see a microwave. The coffee machine was a great treat and the kids enjoyed babyccinos. The place was really clean and well furnished. There is outdoor seating area, with a door from one of the bedrooms. A nice and quiet place to enjoy lunch and or dinner.
Location wise; it was a short journey to most the places we wanted to see- Bleinham Palace, and Cogges Farm. We went into Witney, which was an easy journey. I really recommend using the 3 words app to find them.
Parking right by the door made for easy packing and unpacking.
