We recently stayed (August 2024) at Anchor down and it was a great house. We had an amazing stay, with Croyde on your door step and other amazing beaches it is truly one of a kind.
The house has a great outdoor space at the front with grass which was good for our little kids to run around on. It also has a great decking area which gets the sun on an evening. The house is also equipped with a smart tv, Nintendo wii and ps3 which also gave the older kids (teenagers) something to do.
The rooms are super spacious all with comfy beds and efficient lighting. The toilets and showers are also great/clean on arrival. The kitchen had everything you would need including a large dining area.
Steve is an amazing and friendly host. He was quick to answer any questions or if we needed anything. We would totally recommend this place and wanted to say a big thanks to Steve (and his mum) for making the house really clean and providing a great house to stay in.
We will return again and thanks again.

Excellent location for the shops and pubs in Croyde. the house was clean and plenty of space for 4 adults and one teenager. A nice touch was a bottle of wine waiting on our arrival.
The usable garage was a great help for storing surfboards and beach equipment.
Communications before, during & after stay were excellent. My only recommendation would be to have another shower but this would not put us of booking again. A Great place for a great price.

The property is in a good location, close to the village centre, but in a quiet road with not much passing traffic
The house is a good size for 8 people with plenty of space
Only 2 loos in the house, and not one in one of the bathrooms.

Excellent Stay and a Brilliant Host
House was perfect for our needs and had more in the way of facilities than the listing even states. Steve was brilliant at communicating on check in and useful information on the area. Our party had all age ranges from baby, toddlers, teenagers and adults and we enjoyed a really relaxing time. Having use of the garage was a real bonus as after walking back from the beach it was great to be able to put the pushchairs and body boards in overnight so they did not clutter up the house. A bottle of wine and crisps was a lovely welcome gift and some essentials were there for use as well if we had needed them. Laundry detergent, tea bags, dishwasher tablets and much more. The location is perfect down a little road right in the heart of Croyde and literally only a minutes walk from the shop and restaurants etc. Have already been looking at dates for next year to come again! Thanks Steve for the hospitality and doing a great job of being a host. If you are a family group looking for a quiet place with good facilities right in the middle of Croyde then I would not hesitate to book this property. It is excellent value and I can not recommend it enough.

Great property!
House was immaculate & well appointed - even an alun key was found for roof bars! 8 of us stayed and we had plenty of room. Shower was ace, could do with a toilet in the shower room & a shower over the bath, but not deal breakers. We’ll be back!

September trip
The property is in a great location, on a quiet road near the town. The communal areas were spacious, comfortable and clean.
The host was easy to contact and sent clear instructions to follow.
I would definitely recommend staying there and would consider it for my next trip to Croyde
Thanks again, Steve!

Charming place & conveniently close to amenities
Charming lil place. Close to amenities, pubs, post office, beach, dunes, etc. Didn't even have time to turn on the tele. We stayed in March, had overcast weather one day and sunny skies the next, overall got very lucky with the weather. We even got to use the backyard patio one eve, I could see enjoying this area more in warmer months. Walking distance to The Thatch which we enjoyed a couple times. Steve's Mom came to stop by to make sure we were doing well and surprised us with a sweet treat which was a hit. Lil things of convenience were very much appreciated such as the towels, milk in the fridge, etc. Thanks so much. Will definitely consider staying here in the future. Cheers,

Love Croyde, great house, perfect location
House was perfect for 2 families with 4 children. Spacious, well equipped, decent parking and useful garage for beach equipment. Best of all is the location right in the centre of Croyde. Could not be more perfect for shops, pubs, coffee shop and pleasant level walk to beach. We hope to return.

A very enjoyable family holiday.
Our family group ranged in age from 3 - 77; it suited us all. The house is spacious, comfortable and well appointed. Good location very near the centre of the village and only 10 - 15 minutes walk to Croyde beach. Limited food shopping available in Croyde but we arranged an online delivery for the day we arrived. Steve, the owner, was only a text away and available if we had any queries, which we didn't.
We enjoyed our holiday - only complaint, we only had one week.

Anchor Down - Croyde
Lovely house for large family, very well equipped with modern furniture and a huge TV in the lounge. Highly recommended.
Croyde Bay. Wow. Devon at it's best. And the locals were all very friendly and always willing to help. It's such a shame the holiday ended and we had to come home.
Thanks to Steve for immediate attention when we needed the hand rail on the stairs fixed. Brilliant.

Great house!
We recently stayed for 5 days at Anchor Down, the house is spacious and well equipped and in a quiet area. We received wine and crisps as a welcome, a nice gesture. All the bedrooms are a good size and having the bathroom and a shower room upstairs, meant we weren't in each others way in the morning . The washing machine and tumble dryer are in the garage that didn't cause any issues for us but if the weather was particularly bad unlocking the garage door to access them may be a bind. There is a small washing line on the rear decking area with a few pegs, the kitchen has most equipment needed. The electric oven is an all in one so grill/oven and there is an electric hob. There is a dishwasher although we didn't use it. The dining area is really spacious with a large table to seat 8. The lounge is large with a smart tv, PS3 and a Wii. There is also a good selection of DVD's and books which is great. The heating system is easy to use. Steve the owner is very accommodating he allowed us to go into the house earlier than we expected which was a real bonus. The village of Croyde is lovely, there are many eating places to suit all, we particularly liked the Thatch. The food was really good and the service we received was superb. The beaches in the surrounding areas are outstanding, I would definitely recommend this house for it's homely relaxing feel. We vacated on a Friday, Steve said we could leave a bit later if required as there wasn't anyone arriving straight away. Great house! Superb owner.

Lovely house, good location.
The house was very homely with everything that we needed was there. Steve gave very clear instructions on all of the equipment which was available to us. Also gave lots of useful information on where to go to eat and local beach. Steve was easily contactable if we required anything. This was a family holiday which worked well with the spaciousness of the house. Good parking also.

Lovely house!
We really loved staying at Anchor Down. The property was bigger than we expected from the photos and was very clean and welcoming. A great space to socialise in and also to relax in after a busy day on the beach! Everyone commented on how comfortable the beds were too!
The house was in a great location, just a few minutes walk to the centre of Croyde and about 10 minutes walk to the beach along a footpath which was suitable for a pushchair (just a little bumpy). We loved the new deli in Croyde - delicious food and very friendly.
Steve, the owner, gave us loads of information before we left and then was on the end of the phone all weekend if we needed to ask him anything about the house. Thanks for being so flexible about arrival and departure times - that made the weekend even more relaxing for us :-)
Everyone in our group enjoyed our stay and we'd love to stay again soon!

Fab! Property, clean, well equipped, spacious and very comfortable.
We had a great week at Anchor Down, Croyde is a beautiful Devon village and the property is just a few moments walk from the Main Street with the Thatch and Billy Buds pubs, both of which we tried and recommend. We visited lots of other places, we also highly recommend Squires fish restaurant in Braunton, very good food. After our daily travels it was so pleasing coming back to Anchor Down, on an evening we sat and enjoyed a drink and watched DVDs on the very large TV, it was like going to the cinema each night, only without the cost! We met Steve (the owner) on the day of arrival, he is a really nice man, very obliging and answered all my questions regarding the property extremely promptly. He told me, he finds it "very difficult to leave" Anchor Down, when he stays. We fully understand why, it truly is a lovely property in a beautiful part of Devon, we highly recommend a visit.
