This was a lovely hotel during our stay in Kyoto. It was close to many things: 7/11, supermarkets, train stations, subway stations, shopping streets and food options all within walking distance. They offered lots of free amenities such as coffee, ice machine and they also had laundry facilities (this did have a queue but was good to have). The staff were always friendly, always said hello to us and topped up any amenities we wanted. The rooms were on the smaller side but very good value for money, clean and well kept. Would stay here again and recommend to friends/family.

This hotel is tiny! Only 160 rooms, it's very stylish and budget friendly. The room seemed very small at first, feels a little bit like being in a submarine, but it was actually fine, clean and modern after we adjusted we were quite happy, nice and quiet and private. It has an onsen free of charge but only big enough for a few people, but since there is only a small capacity for the hotel it's okay. The laundry is free and performed very well, you just need to provide the detergent. We were also offered the breakfast buffet at half price since the kitchen had recently opened, so we couldn't refuse, the food was delicious with many options. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Overall recommended if you get a good price!

The 7-11 across the street is so helpful. And the entrance to the subway across the street also helps when checking in and exploring the city. I loved the restroom and Lawson around the corner

Hotel is close to 3 train lines and only 2 changes from Kyoto station. The rooms are small but this is Japan so I did not have a problem with that. It’s very well run and the rooms and facilities were well kept. Only thing would be for the housekeepers once a week to wipe down the desk and the top of the tv because it had a lot of dust on it.

A good experience, though in the mornings our room would fill with a faint food smell. Presumably from the restaurant directly beside the hotel, even though our windows were always closed.

It was high season in Kyoto so hotel pickings were slim. We went with Hop Inn because the prices were comparatively reasonable, but we could see why when we actually stayed there. First off, the staff was wonderful. They were very friendly, helpful and did a great job of accommodating our requests. On the down side, the room is exceedingly small, especially for two people. The bed was a good size, but it was a challenge just to turn around and walk the other direction in there. There was barely anywhere to put our luggage, so we really struggled with being comfortable most of the time. One thing I ran into was the fact that taking the stairs to other floors is not an option. There are stairs but your badge won't unlock the doors so you're forced to use the elevator, even if it's just one floor, which means lots of waiting. I didn't know this until I got stuck once, there really should be a sign posted somewhere telling guests that the stairs should not be used, or just make them accessible, it seems unsafe to disable stair access. It was nice having laundry facilities, but as there are only two washers and dryers, it sometimes meant waiting a long time to use them. Finally, the place felt kind of old and not really clean; we've been to worse but felt it could be a bit better taken care of.

Property was clean, public bath house was amazing and clean, staff were super friendly and accommodating. I would come back again next time I'm in Kyoto

We loved the location and the rooms were super clean
Loved the extra things we could take in the foyer as in bath salts tea and coffee 👌
Rooms were rather tight and the pillows were rock hard but other than it was excellent. We spent 4 nights there

I reality liked the courtesy of the stuff and the amenities present on the ground floor. The room was a bit bigger than standard Japanese hotels, it had everything you needed. Good position in general. No particular issues.

This hotel highly exceeded our expectations. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Everything was perfect, the service we received was superb, there was 24h free coffee and more free amenities as needed, we loved the location and the availability of surrounding shops. We didn't want to leave and will most likely be back.

Construction sounds in the morning right next door, dryer doesn’t work for washing machine, bed is uncomfortable, but place is cheap and in a good location walking distance from main areas

Very friendly and helpful staff, including English-speaking member.
