About this farm stay rental

Our property is in the path of totality for the Total Solar Eclipse of 2024! Observers here will see (approximately) 4 minutes of totality!

Our quiet and peaceful Texas Hill Country property is perfect for your group (sleeps up to 21) of friends, family or co-workers. The 5 acre property sits amongst beautiful heritage oaks about 45 minutes from west Austin and 15 minutes to Marble Falls and Johnson City. Amenities include a fire pit, large deck, 3.5 foot deep pool, hot tub, shaded picnic area, 4 picnic tables, foosball table, bean bag toss & Pac-Man Arcade.

Bedding accommodations for up to 21 guests include 6 queen beds, 2 king beds, one full bed, and two sets of bunk beds (4 twin beds). A description of where each bed is located follows below. Seven bathrooms are provided throughout the property. We also have two complimentary RV hook ups (electrical and water only) by request.

The former Shovel Mountain Winery is a vacation retreat for families and groups wanting to retreat to the Hill Country with all the comforts of home and the ambiance of your favorite hill country destination. The facilities are designed to accommodate large groups and provide a flexible venue for family reunions, yoga or cooking retreats, and company workshops, just to name a few. Your stay includes the use of the ranch house, log cabin, retro travel trailer, winery apartment, firepit, and our private pool and hot tub with large deck. Each are nestled under large oak trees and provide beautiful views of the Texas Hill Country during the day and bright stars at night. The ranch house, deck and pool/hot tub, and travel trailer are located on one side of the parking area across from the log cabin and winery building apartment. Each space has a personality of its own.

Our remote location is where you can actually see the stars and view the milky way like when you were a kid!

PLEASE NOTE: We base our nightly rate on groups of up to 12. For groups with 13 to 21 guests, VRBO automatically adds $25 per person to the trip total.

We allow up to 4 well behaved dogs (please send us a request if you think you need to bring more pets than that).

We are fortunate to be able to share our guest homes with you, but please be mindful that we are also sharing our former vineyard with Texas wildlife. Along with the armadillos, jackrabbits, and roadrunners… we also have seen snakes, fire ants, and other stinging insects. We remind you that children must be supervised since we have farm equipment stored throughout the vineyard.

We provide 5-gallon containers of bottled water in the ranch house, log cabin and winery apartment for drinking and cooking. Please bring ice, as the refrigerators have large freezers but no ice makers!

Other things to note:
We are located in Round Mountain, TX which is approximately 45 minutes from Austin and Fredericksburg, 18 miles from Marble Falls and Johnson City, and one hour from Enchanted Rock. This was the perfect option for my family. I have adult children. It was nice to be together but still have our own space.

Really great place to stay if you have a lot of family or friends with you. Loads of beds. Plenty of common spaces as well as areas to chill alone. Nice to have the pool and hot tub.

We enjoyed the property and the location. The main house and log cabin were very nice and spacious. The retro trailer was OK, but did not have working refrigerator or stove. The winery apartment was large with 2 bathrooms. We did have an issue with the plumbing in the apartment, but the owners were quick to send out a plumber to take care of the problem. We would recommend this property as a great place for a large group. We would book again.

We slept 15 people, 6 couples and 3 singles. The living/kitchen/dining areas were spacious enough for us all, and everyone had enough space and privacy for sleeping and showering. The pool was cool and shaded even on 100+ degree afternoons. The hot tub was nice also. The AC in the cabin and ranch house had difficulty catching up on Friday night, but was fine by Saturday. The travel trailer was very chilly by the window AC but still warm on the queen bed end. Given the crazy heat wave, no shocker there.

It was great place for large group. The pool area was excellent. The only problem was the log cabin was hot. It would not cool off . But even with the hot log cabin we all had a great time. Will visit again,

We recently stayed at this property with three other families, and overall, it was a very good experience. The main house and cabins were spacious and comfortable, easily accommodating all of us. The kids especially loved the pool. While the pool and hot tub needed some maintenance, the hosts were very responsive and addressed our feedback quickly. We appreciated their attentiveness. We would definitely consider staying here again for future vacations.

We enjoyed our time, the property needed more up keeping. And the description of the pool needs to be more specific. But in all our family enjoyed the weekend.
