Nature lovers can explore the quaint Aartal on foot or by bike. Many well-developed hiking trails lead through the varied and attractive landscape. The area around Willingen is also ideal for mountain bikers. There are bike parks and downhill trails for every level. In winter, well-groomed cross-country ski trails, perfectly groomed pistes, ploughed winter hiking trails and toboggan runs in the most diverse ski areas guarantee plenty of fun in the snow. Excursion destinations in the area include: Christine slate mine, Ettelsberg cable car, Mühlenkopfschanze, Diemelsee, Bruchhauser Steine, Brilon, Winterberg, Waldeck Castle.
