Quiet room in back. Never got TV to work. We got back late after NMSU game and gates were closed to access back rooms. Was never informed at check in that we had to roll them back ourselves to let car in.

Old place in need of refurbishing. Start with making TV/WiFi functional.

Everything was clean, staff very friendly….and priced fairly! My only complaint was the WiFi didn’t work that well from my room.

The staff is courteous and my room was clean. The only disappointment was my mattress was a little too soft for me

Really nice grounds. Koi pond, trees, gazobo.
Would stay here again.
Young man at front desk, really very helpful.

The front desk person looked a bit unkempt although he did have our paperwork ready when we got there, since I called to say we would be checking in late. Additionally, his instructions on where to park/find our room were very vague. We finally figured out that we would have had to manually open a metal gate and drive to the back because someone went ahead of us and let us know. This individual also said that we “really should park in the back” because it would be “safer”. The sheets had a large stain on them but it was not know if this was from lack of laundering or just a stain. When my husband went back to the front desk to ask for clean sheets, it was already locked although it was 10 minutes prior to guest hours being over. The walls and ceiling had splatter stains all over them. The bathroom light and “kitchenette” light were connected so you could not go to the bathroom at night without turning on a VERY bright fluorescent light that would light up the entire room. Although we spent very little on this stay (due to no other places having availability), the pictures on the site and reviews DID NOT prepare us for how bad it was.

The staff was unhelpful. There were two pillows and the staff would not let us to have more. There was no soap, no cups, no ice bucket. The noise from the street out front was very loud.

Novel in the 60’s the owners are working hard to restore its hotel usefulness. The big chili is worth a look as architectural art.

The hotel was not even open.

Stayed here twice for two days each during a tour of the Southwest. Staff was friendly, but the neighborhood was a bit rough. Not necessarily dangerous, but I saw several heavily drugged individuals walking the street. First room was what you'd expect for a cheap motel/inn. But there was nothing in the room but two beds, a small TV (Roku), small fridge and a toilet and sink. No soap, no extra toilet paper. I was surprised there were towels to be honest. Second time, the room was the same room, but the TV was just a regular TV with cable, the bathroom was completely different, although this time they gave us two plastic wrapped plastic cups, and some tear open shampoo/soap. Ive never seem a hotel that didn't have uniform rooms...but they let us smoke weed in the room, so you take your wins when you can get em...

Decent place for a short stay. Good staff.

This motel is long term stay for most rooms and does not feel safe. We travel a lot and pictures and reviews were not accurate and if it was not so late we would have left. Non-smoking room was surrounded by smoking rooms and walls were paper thin with strange noises all night long. Smell was horrible and we reluctantly used bed and left early the next morning thankfully. The desk clerk was kind and we felt sorry for him.

The property was open and accessible. Lobby and rooms were large. Gave a feeling of safety.

Safe to arrive at late night to check in. Bed mattress is bit hard but able sleep thru night.

I liked the Big Chili but it is clearly very dated and although the rooms are large enough they need major upgrade to be considered more than a two star. That said, I understand the property is under new ownership(?) so I look for good things to happen for a motel that can be a fun kitschy spot in Southern New Mexico.
