Welcome to this charming 2-bedroom historic home, where timeless elegance meets modern comfort. Formerly, this home belonged to the the Speaker of the House. It won the Golden Hammer, a prestigious community award for historic buildings that have been restored. Nestled within a historic neighborhood and situated across from the Missouri State Penitentiary, this residence exudes character and offers a unique living experience.
As you approach, you'll be greeted by a meticulously preserved exterior showcasing architectural details. The house is a testament to the craftsmanship of its time, showcasing the enduring beauty of historic architecture. The front porch is welcoming and has ample seating.
Upon entering, you'll step into a foyer that sets the tone for the entire home. The interiors are a harmonious blend of historic charm and contemporary convenience. High ceilings, original hardwood floors, and molding are just a few of the period details that add character to the living spaces. The living room is a cozy retreat, featuring a smart TV. Large windows fill the space with natural light and offer picturesque views of the surrounding neighborhood.
The kitchen has been thoughtfully updated to meet the needs of modern living while preserving the historic ambiance. Stainless steel appliances and original custom cabinetry seamlessly integrate with the overall aesthetic. The kitchen has access to the back deck as well as a half bath.
A quaint dining area adjacent to the kitchen provides a perfect spot for enjoying meals. Across from the dining room, is the basement which is unfinished for storage and features a washer and dryer.
The two upstairs bedrooms are havens of comfort, each offering a tranquil escape. The bedrooms each have queen beds. There is a full bathroom upstairs. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply seeking a home with character, this residence offers a unique and enchanting living experience.

Requirements
-A government photo ID is required at or before check in to verify identity.
Check In/Out
-Check-in is at 4pm, please arrange in advance if you need an earlier time. We try to accommodate if possible. Check-out is at 12 noon, our cleaning arrives promptly to clean the space to turn over for our next guests. If you do not check-out by 12 noon, you will be charged another night stay.
Smoking
-This home is a non-smoking area, if you need to smoke please go outside and properly dispose of all cigarette butts. Absolutely no drug use is permitted on this property!!!
Damage/Cleanliness
-Please do not remove any contents from the space. We keep a detailed inventory of everything; if anything goes missing you will be charged the approximate replace cost.
-If bath towels, hand towels, wash clothes, or kitchen towels are stained or ruined beyond cleaning you will be charged. If any stains appear on the area rugs, furniture, or pillows from your stay, you will be charged a cleaning fee.
-If anything is broken during your stay please let us know. We try to work with our guests the best we can, but you may be liable to reimburse the replacement cost.
-Please remove old food from the refrigerator and dispose prior to leaving. Trash cans are available in the back of the property off kitchen. Extra trash bags are under the kitchen sink.
-Whilst we do a thorough professional clean between each guest stay, we ask that prior to leaving you clean and put away and wash any dishes or kitchenware used. Please leave all dirty linens in the basket provided in each room, which includes all bath towels, washcloths, and bed linens.
-Please do not use decorate pillows for sleeping.
-To keep our floorings sparkly clean we do ask that you remove your shoes in the suite. Please do not track in muddy or wet shoes, keep our hardwood pretty and scratch free.
Noise
-Please keep noise levels down parties and event are restricted. Quiet hours are 8pm-8am. This building does have other occupants.
Safety
-DO NOT LEAVE WASHER AND DRYER RUNNING UNATTENDED! Please make sure you are in the unit when using washer and dryer.
-Make sure all hair dryers, curling irons, clothes iron, etc are unplugged before leaving unit.
-Candles are not permitted due to fire hazards.
-Guests are responsible for locking all doors at all times. Please lock all doors when coming and going.
-The minimum age requirement is 21. Guests under 21 are welcome accompanied by a parent or guardian.
-To prevent plumbing issues, please do not flush anything down the toilet besides toilet paper. There is a trashcan in each bathroom for other items. Flushable wipes are not permitted.
Electricity
- To keep our costs down and pass those savings onto you, we kindly ask that you switch off lights when not in use and/or you are leaving the house. Mother nature thanks you too!
-Please keep the A/C or heat between 70-75 degrees.
Occupancy
-This unit has a max of 4 persons. If you need larger accommodations please let us know.
-Only booking guests are allowed in this property. If an unapproved guest is staying on property a $100 fee will be added to your bill.

-Pets are not permitted.
-We provide tea and coffee in the kitchen. Please only take what you need and share with other guests.
