About this apartment rental
The Owl Nest: Family friendly. Be immersed in nature at our peaceful, cozy stream side retreat. Located next to the Waipio Lookout, our Hamakua Coast rain forest property is the perfect place for two adults with one child stays. Hear the rush of our waterfall and adventure in our private oasis. Discover the magic of the “Owl Nest”, a large spacious high-ceiling one bedroom space attached to the primary residence log cabin. Garden views from every window. Cozy, serene and fully appointed.
The Owl Nest: Full size log cabin construction, full of character, romance, personal touches and whimsy with tree sized log beams crossing the ceiling, below the skylights and ceiling fan. You have your own private entrance for coming and going, and parking right next to the unit. There is an attached private bathroom with a tub, a walk-in closet, and fully stocked kitchenette with full size refrigerator and freezer, microwave, infrared double hot plates and toaster with convection oven, kettle, coffee maker and rice cooker and steamer for meal preparation. All dishes, and high chair. There is also your own private lanai for taking meals outdoors.
There is a super comfy king sized bed with a twin size bunk bed for a child (up to 150 lbs.), and an extra-large gushy couch for snoozing on, snuggling in and cozying up for a late night movie and popcorn on the 43” UHD Internet TV.
We have HiSpeed Internet. For the remote worker or writer, the Owl Wing can be your live-in remote office or studio for longer-term stays. Washer and dryer are available on premises.
There are views to the front yard garden and out to the gulch beyond.
Running through the middle of the property is a peaceful year round stream, molded with spiritual sized rocks and surrounded by rain forest. The stream cascades over small waterfalls among the rocks, and terminates in a dramatic 50 foot water fall. Put your feet in the water, play with the craw fish, catch the fish, admire the water lilies, listen to the frogs, or layout on the rocks in the sun. Listen to the rushing sound of the stream, enjoy a book by the stream or explore the magical gardens that weave in and out of the gulch.
Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult in the gulch and the grounds.
We’re a ten minute drive to Historical Honoka’a Town with restaurants, theater, grocery stores, shopping, art galleries and hospital. Horseback riding, hiking, ATV rentals are close by. Our "Banana Belt" climate is perfect!
Our sunny climate is tempered by the trade winds. There is a constant breeze keeping temperatures cool, comfortable and perfect. We're a five minute walk to the Waipio Valley Lookout. Take in the majestic high valley cliffs and ocean views. Watch whales breaching with views to Maui.
Guests have access to the magic gardens, the front yard garden in front of the log cabin primary residence, the gulch and to views of the waterfall. The upstairs apartment can be rented for additional guests, as can the two wings on the primary log cabin residence. And the waterfall cabin can also be rented for additional guests.
When our schedules permit we enjoy meeting with our guests to go over house rules, and to orient our guests on the property. We appreciate that guests keep us apprised of their plans for arrival, and to let us know when they're checking out. We encourage our guests to use the guidebook in our AirBnB listing but are more than happy to check-in and make recommendations. We want our guests to reach out via the Airbnb chat application or to call if they need anything or to let us know if something in their rental unit is not working.
