It lies close to the trail to Psiloritis and within short driving distance to a few beautiful gorges
When I arrived, I was welcomed with “What do you want?”. When I said I wanted to check in, the owner proceeded to arguing with his wife as to who should show me to my room. So much for Cretan hospitality. The rooms were not at the address given in the description (usually a red flag). The owner (who lost the argument) asked me questions about myself but his English wasn’t sufficient to understand the answers so he second-guessed me by answering his questions with his own assumptions. I enquired about the kitchenette, which was in the description, he said he didn’t know but would ask his wife and message me. Never happened. I brought food to cook but obviously couldn’t use it. The room has a table and some kitchenware, but no chair so there’s no way to sit down to eat.

We had a very pleasant stay. The room was spotlessly clean, and the beds were perfectly comfortable. The kitchenette had all the necessary things, and the room opened onto a shared courtyard with a beautiful potted garden. Shower had good water pressure. The host is very hospitable. Please be aware that this is a Greek village hotel, not a resort— it is a clean, comfortable, slightly old-fashioned, and well-priced stay in an absolutely beautiful village in one of the most beautiful regions of Crete. If this is what you are looking for, you will be very happy with your choice. By the way, Greek friends told us about this place, so it gets a thumbs-up from the locals as well!
Our room did not have A/C though other rooms do. Be sure to double-check with the owner if this is important to you. We found we did not need it.

The couple in charge of this place are incredibly nice and accomadating. The food is cooked at your request, at almost any time you'd like. It's delicious and an amazing price per meal. They even went above and beyond to give me directions for hiking mount ida and packing me a lunch to take

Sweet room with cute decor and good hot water in the bathroom. The family that owns the place is very kind and Iannis helped me a lot with tips on the E4 hike. I had a nice stay here, would book again.
All was good! One thing to note, do not go directly to the room’s address (Google maps) but stop earlier in the road as soon as you meet the Windy Place taverna. That is where you will do the check-in.

Staff is friendly and flexible, I booked the room late and they opened the hotel.
Dinner and breakfast was delicious
Everything looks a bit cheap
The overall price was relatively high a bit

Wonderful location, what a view of Mt Ida. Quiet street, no traffic issues /noise.

Loves the staff working there and the village it's located in. Very homey and welcoming. The shower is wicked small but you're in Greece in a village. Laugh at it :)
Don't think there was wifi in the room. Small issue. There is still wifi at the restaurant there and it's only a 3 minute walk.

Nice owners, family management. Good location for hiking. Stayed in a room with a large and convenient kitchen. Advice to visitors: check-in at the Windy Taverna down below the village, not the "Rent rooms" shown by the geographic coordinates, as there are no-one there.
Always trying to be positive in my comments, but also honest, and I must say that the room wasn't very clean, dusty shelves and nightstands, trash bins still partly full from previous visitors. The accomodations in Crete have greatly improved, and I have seen many (have been in Crete 6 times) and there are usually cleaner than that. Maybe a slight mixup in the organization, I can accept that... A better care would improve the grading of the place (lower than 8 at the time of this comment). Good luck and maybe see you next time!

Lovely friendly place in an enchanting village

The food in the restaurant took too long to serve, 2.5 hours. Some of the food was overcooked. Local wine was not very nice but maybe you have to be Greek to appreciate it.
I think that this place can be wonderful in summer but in winter it is a bit uncomfortable because of the cold. The rooms where you sleep are in another building in town. You have to warm up a boiler for a shower which we found out much too late. So no shower..
Beds were ice cold, maybe different kind of bedding will help. Rooms were heated a short time in advance to our arrival, which we appreciatex but it was not really warm. If rooms are cold for a long time it takes more time to warm up. One room had extra heater, the other one not.
All in all it was a bit too cold.

Ioannis (I hope I write it correctly…) and his wife are a perfect example of Greek hospitality! After some long days of hiking in the area they cooked me great dinners. They can also supply you with useful tips of the area. Thanks for the great stay!

1. You can rest in the mountains, especially if you stuck for some reason, as basically, there's nothing near. And you won't be willing to drive at night through the mountains.
2. Price. It's veery moderate.
1. There's a kettle, several knifes and forks, but there's no place to cook
2. It was very hard to find the location. For some reason, the coordinates listed at booking do not work. So I had to look for the property and property owner to pick up keys late night... Spent hour or so just looking for it.

A cozy room with a tinge of vintage; a wonderful view to the mountains. A really comfy bed. A kettle and basic kitchenware for morning coffee. The hosts kindly brought over my other bag I had forgotten at their main place (the taverna with the same name).
The landlady speaks hardly any English (might be a problem over the telephone). A wrong WiFi password (could realise myself what the right one is).

Quiet place, en route the E4 path, very friendly owner
No refrigerator or water cooker

I enjoyed my stay at Windy Place enormously. It was made very special by Diana and Yannis. They were kind, friendly and made me feel extremely welcome. Dina cooked up some delicious food and Yannis let me sample his excellent wine and answered all my questions.
A very special experience. The area is beautiful and so removed from the resorts and cities in the North of the island.

First and foremost - the hosts are truly fantastic people, kind, helpful and they offer great food at their taverna. Many things are home grown or self made - from potatoes to a very nice white wine. I really felt at home after 2 taxing days in the Psiloritis mountain range. Be aware that their rooms are in the very heart of Fourfouras, but the taverna is at the NW edge of the hamlet, maybe an 8 min walk, somewhat downhill, from the rooms. The booking app shows the heart of town (200m off btw), but your best bet is to go the taverna first! They all have the same name Windy Place to complete confusion :) The rooms are simple but good, airco works a treat.
Just a word of advice to my hosts: the shower screen in my room needs repair. Also a wifi for the rooms location would be nice (if there was one, my iphone nor ipad could find it). 3G and 4G worked in Fourfouras btw.

A very nice top floor apartment with amazing views across the valley.
Food was excellent at the Taverna, with a lovely outside eating area.
Dina and Jiannis making sure we were comfortable, and Jiannis even giving us a lift up to the refuge (1500m) so we could make the ascent up Psiloritis.
Nothing

The food cooked by Tina was delicious.
The room was very hot and had no air conditioning.

They kindly made me an early breakfast at 6:45 so I could make an early start climbing the Psiloritis mountains. Handy device so you could dry a bit of washing outside the window.
I arrived at where the rooms were located, which looked a bit shabby from the outside, but should have gone to the associated Taverna on the main road.
