My husband and I traveled to San Francisco on business and decided to give The Clift a try after lots of debate. We were extremely please with the customer service upon arrival. They accommodated us immediately with early check in. Our room had an beautiful view of the city and a peak of the bay. It was clean upon inspection and smelled sanitary. It was quiet and comfortable. We stayed 5 days and had an amazing time. We had an issue with our bathroom on the last night and they offered us a different room on the same floor. We will be returning in the next few months and plan to book the same room as before. I would recommend this property to anyone. It was one of the few with no active protest going on. Oh and concierge was the best.

Impressed. Recommend the avocado toast for breakfast. Near to everything downtown but still quiet. (For those who haven’t been to San Francisco, you may be put off by the zombie like homelessness but you would never know it inside this gem of a hotel).

Hotel was great and the rooms were clean. I would stay again. The hotel walls are notably thin. Regarding location, it’s close to union square, which is convenient if you’re a first-time visitor, but it’s on the edge of an area you don’t want to be in. We did not have any issues, but I wouldn't have wanted to be by myself in the area after dark.

The stay at the Clift hotel was good the rooms were clean and upgraded. The only issue was that they remodeled the lobby and the redwood room. There used to be great art work in the lobby and in the redwood room there was moving art on the wall. They should return the lobby and redwood room to the original way it was.

Room was nice but could hear the room next door like we were sharing it, but the overall service is dramatic, barely anyone outside of 3 people we have met were smiley and amicable, breakfast people are working like they are in jail, most of the staff is if not rude then very cold and self focus so difficult to have a discussion or just sharing anything, even to drop your car key is a challenge.

We were disappointed there was no room service and Fredericks was never open. We were supposed to receive $30 room credits but for not.

Beautifully decorated hotel near the theaters and Union Square. The service was excellent and our room was spacious and comfortable. We especially loved the Redwood Room. The bartender was fabulous!

We came here for a staycation and it was not a great experience. The hotel is sandwiched between two hotels where the employees are on strike so we heard banging and sirens for 15 hours a day. There was also a dog on the floor above that howled and barked for two days. On top of that, the woman staying in the room right next to ours was loud and obnoxious well past 1 am. When we kindly asked her if she could keep it down, she told the front desk we threatened her and threatened to call the cops. Our visit was not at all restful which is too bad because we paid a lot of money to stay here. The one upside is that the room was very clean. Since Covid, I always wipe everything down upon arrival and I can attest that aside from one small hair found in the bathroom, the whole room was very very clean.

The Clift Hotel is an historic prob=perty form the 1930's with the gorgeous art deco Redwood Room lounge/reatuarnt. The rooms are renovated and totally up to date as well as spacious. Service is friendly and excellent and prices are fair. It is located close to Union Square near restuarants, shopping and theaters. We enjoyed our stay.

It was fine, we had booked a junior suite and the room didn’t have as many windows and lights as appeared in the photos when booking, felt very dark and gloomy. The furniture matched the pictures.
The bathroom was not cleaned properly when we checked in, the cleaning and refill service was not good, they took our towels but never replaced them, no refill on coffee capsules or glasses/muggs. So we had to call room service to get new towels and so on.
Don’t recommend to eat at the restaurant, drinks are fine.

Perfect location if you’re going to a show at the Warfield. It’s a 7 minute walk! We even walked to Oracle Park for a concert. It was a little over a mile. Nice hotel and friendly staff.

Amazing hotel! Walking distance to cable cars, tour buses. The front desk staff and concierge were super helpful in offering tips for what to see during our 2 days in San Francisco. Hotel is very nice, clean and a great place to relax after a long day of touring. We felt very safe walking around the hotel at night, as long as you are not walking into the Tenderloin area (which hotel staff did a good job at mentioning) you are good.
Only thing I will mention is that we were able to hear lots of noise from our hotel window (cars passing by with loud music, sirens) but nothing that stopped us from having a good nights rest.
