Chula Vista, the good the bad and the ugly:
The good: The two female staff were amazing and super friendly. The pool was beautiful and very relaxing to sit around.
The bad: Honestly I was not very impressed with the room, it was extremely bare bones, yes I know I was paying bare bones to stay here but the towels I was given all had stains on them, and some even had holes in them. One of my pillowcases even had a mark on it, No nightstand to put water or cell phone on at night, my stuff had to go on the ground.
The ugly; it was a lie that it's only a 7 minute walk to the beach, it's at least 15 and on the way back to the hotel it's literally on top of a mountain and a super steep hike to get to. When I was there in September it was about 70% humidity and by the time I reached the hotel my shirt was like I was standing outside in a downpour for hours with sweat.
Overall honestly I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you have no other choice in town.

It would great if they got some comfortable chairs for relaxing on, none of their chairs were comfortable. Also the beds are not quite the best. They are not good for yourn body. And the pillows are flat. Other then those things the people are super nice, they have good light snack food a nice swimming pool and parking. They could also have a few cleaning supplies and papertowes available .

10 minute walk from central up some sleep hills and it’s away from the noise with a nice view. Lots of beautiful woodwork in the room and there is a shared kitchen and eating area also with a view.

It was great for the price we paid.
Pros
Clean, safe, friendly staff, beautiful property.
Cons
We had almost no hot water. Didn’t mention this to them. We made due.
The bed was rock hard. Not premium bedding. Lol
The WIFI was great. It didn’t reach into our room. Had to ask numerous times about wifi. It seemed nobody knew anything. It took a few days to get things figured out. After that it was bueno.
We didn’t have a fridge first of all. Not sure why it got removed.
The AC remote was the wrong one first of all. Had to ask. And got the right one. Worked great.
Things to know. The single bed room has no tv, no kitchen. It’s kinda simple. We liked it.
We definitely will come again if we stay in Sayulita.
Bus ride is cheap and no issues. Don’t waste your money on a taxi.
Food is great in Sayulita. Food carts and restaurants everywhere. Loved the Chile Rellenos at Marys. The food cart with the carne tacos was amazing, and they 15 pesos each. Which is like $1 cdn. Only need 3 for a lunch. I recommend not eating on the beach. Prices are higher. We did enjoy pineapple, coconut and water melon on the beach.
We walked all over the place and it’s totally safe. We had no problems. Lots of steep roads. Good workout.
Great place.

No real office. No place to call if we needed anything. Pool hours not enforced and we had people being very loud poolside till about 3am. We woke up to no water on day 2 and had to wait 3 hours for it to be replaced. The one staff member was kind. No napkins in kitchen-they left us a roll of toilet paper but there were pots and utensils to cook with

Chulavista villas are nicely detailed.
The way the rooms are set up (2) to a shared kitchen/ dining space are ideal for families or friends who wish to sleep separate but still be together. Or if you are on your own the space between makes noise from the next room minimal.
The pool area is clean and the gardens are well-kept.
All the photos are current and accurate.
The trek up the hill is interesting. I suggest medium fitness level is necessary if you are walking. The view is sensational. All rooms have same view!
Overall I had a super stay.

Lovely authentic Mexican style hotel. Excellent staff. Comfortable bed and clean room. Pool is unheated so was cold. Pool area is very nice and BBQ for quests. In nice neighbourhood within 10 min walk to town once we found staircase shortcut. Took much longer on way back because all up hill. Golf cart rental recommended.

The facility was clean and maintained although more maintenance can be done. some lights are burned out and the tv did not work although we did not go there to watch tv. . the continental breakfast was off site and we never did get to sample it. the view from our room which was on the top floor was awsome. There is a real village feel to the town as in the morning it is a bit noisy, with roosters crowing and dogs barking. spotty wifi available in the rooms and by the pool. the facility is on the top of a hill with the town spread out below. the walk up and down the hill was not bad at all. the kitchen is not stocked for cooking or much else. There were no wine glasses and only one water glass in the two bedroom kitchen unit. Hot water seems to be an issue as some times it was there some times not. there was always lots of water although some times just warm to cool. there was a safe in the room although we were never given a key to it.

We've been to Sayulita many times and usually stay in town. We booked this for a last minute trip as our normal spot was full. The view was fantastic. However, unless you're okay with a steep 10min trek to get in and out of town, I'm not sure I would recommend this place. There's really nothing nearby, so you have to go down the steep hill for coffee in the morning, and trek back up after a night out on the town. The bed was typical Mexico, very very firm. And the pool was freeeezing. For a last minute choice, it was okay, but I was happy to move back down to the town after one night.

Checking in was kind of a pain and the man at the front desk wasn’t the most pleasant man. The pool area was really nice. Great views. LONG AND HARD WALK from the town square.

The hotel is built on a hillside. It's gorgeous flora was an architectural, landscapers dream come true. As featured in the photographs we had a room with a view. The pool is kidney shaped and very welcoming. Tables and chairs are set around to accomodate a relaxing swim and sunbathing.
Every room has a quaint balcony and you look far in the distance seeing the extensive flora and greenery reaching the mountains afar. A walk down a steep hill was a daily exercise even for us elders. We also had an option to take a taxi to the center of town which is just down the hill. Sixty to seventy pesos and ten minutes later you are in the heart of Sayalita for fun, beach for swimming and surfing and oodles and oodles F stores and restaurants.
I'm not much of a shopper but I delighted myself buying thirty tiles with Day of The Dead images in the most unique situations. I can't wait to install it on my kitchen floor. The store salespeople couldn't be nicer when they packaged it for final destination with plenty of packing material.
Yes, I would definitely visit Sayalita again and stay at Hoetl Chulavista where I shared a full kitchen with one other guest room and the hotel concierge would call for a taxi whenever I needed one. The tranquil hotel stay was so delightful. My friends who stayed in the centro area complained how noisy their room was. It's worth the price to stay up on Gringo Hill because of its location to centro and ease of taxi services. Don't rent a car.

Cute little place on the hill. A bit of a walk to town down the road and a stair access. Nice little pool area with plenty of seating. Share a kitchen with one other room if in upper floor rooms. Or bedroom units by pool.
