What a lovely hotel! Historic property, lots of charm. Located close to train station and in old town. Oldest elevator in Malmo! Staff was super accommodating and friendly, loveliest hotel room ever! This place has charm—our favorite hotel in Sweden!

Great stay at a very unique hotel. Amazing location. Great breakfast. Just wish they had bigger pillows as the ones offered were the size of decorative couch cushions.

A 700 year old building that was close to everything we wanted to see. Many dining options within 10 minutes if you turn to the left when you walk out main door.
Staff was nice, breakfast was good. Beds were comfortable. We would stay here again!

After staying in several large, corporate hotels, this was a real change. The hotel is in an old building with some very interesting history. For example, one room, where you can sit and enjoy the complimentary tea and coffee, used to be the town's library. Breakfast is served in the cellar, which used to be a bar. Two of the Beatles even visited in 1967. There also works of art from modern artists all over the place.

Perfect! A hotel is of course more than the building, but in this case the building is the hotel. Recommended - as you will get the chance to learn some history and experience modern art at the same time.

This is a difficult one to review. We liked the characterfulness and the atmosphere of the hotel, but we weren’t completely happy. Our first room smelled badly of cigarettes. We were moved to a tiny room with a mini shower room. So small that one of us had to get out of bed to let the other out as the bed was tight against the wall. It was also extremely hot. Breakfast was fine but very little concession made for vegetarian or vegan diets. We thought it was ok for the price but wouldn’t go back.

This hotel was built in the middle ages. The accommodations are modest, the room small, the amenities show the vintage of the hotel. However, the breakfast buffet makes up for any and all deficiencies!

We always try to avoid chain hotels since our hotel stays should be as unique and wonderful a part of our vacations as possible, and Mayfair Hotel Tunneln, a short stroll from the central train station, fits the bill in all ways as a privately run hotel.
Friendly and charming Giovanni checked us in and gave us directions on how to reach our room by taking multiple elevators - the first one being really cool and historic - and turning right and left down corridors. Equally friendly and helpful Samina checked us out
What really makes Mayfair Hotel Tunneln so special isn't only its history detailed in the multiple corridors with newspaper clippings and pictures on the walls but also the numerous examples of modern art, which the owners collect and exhibit. We could've spent hours just going from one unique piece of furniture or installation or painting, all fascinating in their own right. There are booklets available with details about the hotel's history and all the artwork exhibited throughout the entire building.
Since we'd booked only one night, we didn't get to see everything as we wished. And we fully underestimated how interesting Malmö is, which is now at the top of our "worth-an-encore- visit" list. We won't have to look for a hotel, but simply book early enough in advance to make sure we can stay at the Mayfair Hotel Tunneln - there's enough art and history for at least a few days.

My grandparents stayed here in 1959. My grandmother immigrated from Hellevik, Sweden to USA at age 16, in 1916. This was her first trip back. In her notes of the trip was a pamphlet for Hotel Tunnelin and a brief description of her cousins meeting them here for conversation one evening after dinner. So glad to stay here and imagine how my grandparents viewed Malmo. I guarantee you she did not wear a backpack and walk from the train station (which is a very short walk). The breakfast buffet was the best on our 2 week stay and loved the long history of the Tunnelin and the hospitality of the staff.

Mayfair Hotel Tunneln is conveniently located near the train station and close to many shops and restaurants. The atmosphere and comfort were phenomenal and service was outstanding. Breakfast was excellent, with many hot and cold selections. This is a historic building, with a great deal of old-world flair. An excellent choice!

Great location near train station, City Hall and around the corner from Saint Peters’s Cathedral. This place is a cool living museum. If was good enough for the Beatles is good enough for me.
