I will never stay here again! When I went to check in, the woman at the front desk asked for my credit card to charge me $30 for standard deposit and for “the room.” I told her I already paid for my room in full on “hotels.com” and she checked. She said she saw it was paid for, but her computer screen said I owed for the night plus the $30. She was trying to get the room charge off for about 20 minutes. She was looking ok’ing for another staff member to help her but couldn’t find one. Then suddenly she yelled out, “I got it! It will just charge you $30 now. Go ahead and tap your card on the screen.” I confirmed with her my card would only be charged the $30 and she says yes! She fixed the problem! The next morning I checked my bank account while I was out shopping in Carmel and saw my account was short funds and had indeed been charged for another night! I went back to the hotel and talked to one man then asked to talk to the manager. She came out and said sometimes “the system” does that and she would reverse the charges. It could take 7-10 days. She acted like it was no big deal at all and said gets all she could do. She was not in my corner as the customer and only backed up her employee and she continued to make excuses for her. I asked if there’s anything she can do to make this right because now my account is short on my vacation and she said, “I am getting the charges reversed and that’s all I can do.” She didn’t seem phased at all that her employee lied to me.

Svendsgaard’s inn has extremely high cost performance. The rooms are warmly and beautifully decorated, very suitable for family trips. The rooms are fully equipped. The fireplace brings warmth and beautiful memories to the children. The front desk staff takes the initiative to help carry luggage. Next time I come to Carmel, I will still choose this place.

We have always stayed here when we bring our dog. I was thinking today, that we will be staying here now even without the dog. It is clean, well kept, very friendly people, pool area nice, and so close to all of the shopping and restaurants near Ocean Ave. We really enjoy our stay at Svendsgaard's Inn.

Check-in was easy and the front desk personnel were warm and friendly. Coffee and tea is readily available at the lobby area for guests and the best part was the complimentary warm cookies in the afternoon. As expected, the room was outdated and could use a refresh. The bed was comfortable and the room with the kitchenette was spacious. For those traveling with pets, there is a lawn area on the 1st floor which makes it very convenient for potty breaks. Overall, for the price, it was a pleasant stay. The location of the Inn is within walking distance to all the stores and restaurants which was great.

This property is located in heart if Carmel. It was very easy to walk to any restaurant or cafe. However the place was a bit old and didn't seem clean enough. The staff were friendly and allowed us to park our car ahead of our checking time.

We initially chose this property because it was pretty centrally located, and it had a good grass area for our dogs. It was a wonderful 3 night stay. It’s within walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants, and in a nice quiet area. I loved that they had a water refill station and ice machine right by the office! All of the staff were great. They were very knowledgeable about the area, and had good restaurant recommendations. The room was a little outdated but it was very charming and clean. The bed was a little hard for my taste, but the pillows were super comfortable and made up for it. The jetted tub was amazing and if it was colder we definitely would have used the fireplace. The grass area for the dogs wasn’t as grassy and green as the picture, but it was super convenient right outside our door. The only downside to that which I didn’t consider is that the grass/dirt gets wet with dew and then it gets their feet dirty. Overall, we (2 adults and 2 dogs) loved staying here and would definitely come back again!

We loved the pet friendly, classic Carmel accommodations. We were walking distance from the beach, restaurants, and shops.

The rooms are OK. There is no air conditioning, so it was a bit stuffy in our room. Plus, the walls are kind of thin. However, the price is good, and the front office staff are so welcoming and friendly. They offered fresh cookies to us. They also had dog treats for our dog and loved on him from the moment we entered. Because of their kindness and smiles both at check-in and at check-out and because of the price, we do plan to come back!

We had a great experience at this property. The room was very comfortable with a gas fireplace. The location of the hotel is also excellent within walking distance of several terrific restaurants. Finally, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I’d recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in Carmel.

We loved staying here! The room had everything we needed and more. The only complaint was that the beds were very uncomfortable… sagging to one side. But otherwise- 10/10. Location was great. Staff was helpful and friendly.

The staff was absolutely amazing! Everyone was friendly and more than willing to guide you to all the hot spots. The room was super cozy with a beautiful fire place and a jacuzzi making it perfect for our little get away to celebrate Father’s Day with my husband. So much within walking distance. Carmel definitely holds wealth codes and you can feel the abundance all around you. We will be back again! An can’t forget super pet friendly!

The bed was right next to the door! No light, no night stand, no outlet!! There was a large wall that would have accommodated the bed, two nightstands with lamps! Poor space planning. The ice bucket was in the closet! No instructions where to get the ice.

We primarily chose this property due to being pet friendly and found the grass area to be half dead and the other half was not mowed. The room was fine except that the shower door did not latch. The area was very walkable and had much to look at in terms of restaurants, shops, and the beach. Alexis was very pleasant and an asset who was helpful and nice.

It was a great location and we walked everywhere. Tons of restaurants everywhere. It was older but for the most part met our needs. Unfortunately the bed was not comfortable and was old cause we kept falling into the center.

Wish I could have said I enjoyed it but even on a Sunday someone has to stay and fight in the room right next to yours. It went on from around 9am till 12:20. I called to the front desk around 11 but they aren’t staffed after 10. Left a message and they didn’t even acknowledge my complaint when I left in the morning. The grass area in the front needs to be cleaned up a little better but other than that super clean. The walls are paper thin so the yelling all night ruined my stay. Can’t say I’ll go back because of how the situation wasn’t dealt with.

Great stay- warm cookies every day, spa type jetted tub with TV in same room as well as in the bedroom! Clean, and very dog friendly. Will come back again!
