Nice to visit, the walking tours are not very long / interesting and full of tourists, we saw more people than animals.
The accommodation and food was basic, it had everything you need for a 1 or 2 night stay.

Incredible location and surroundings. Tours where great, and worth the money.. but, the cabins are old, and some of them is located quite far away.
Worst thing was the food, absolutely disgusting, not even up to marginal standard - a shame, since the place has so much potential.

Conveniently located within the Taman Negara National Park. The trailhead to the Canopy walk is just some meters away from the Resort.

Rooms are great and to be in nature is perfect. Great location. My only complaint is the included meals are buffet and the food overall is mediocre. Very bland. And the coffee is terrible. But the stay and access to trails were perfect.

Since I am interested in plants, birds and animals the entire property delighted me and I spent a lot of time trekking. The property is beautiful and there is so much to do and see.

Best location. Service minded staff. Tours available on site. Cottage super cozy. Food was average. A/C works perfect. Tip: dont leave anything outside the door, the monkeys will take it / eat it! Also, the animals make noise at night (it is the jungle after all), so if you are a light sleeper remember ear plugs.

We spent 4 nights at Mutiara and enjoyed it a lot. There was a lot of wildlife even inside the resort, and of course more on the tracks into the jungle.

Food is bad despite the high price especially the buffet food. Rather cross the river for food which is cheaper and better

The chalets are situated in rainforest which provides excellent birdwatching, the reason for our visit. However, the chalets were disappointing. The first chalet we were given had no running water and when we asked the reception staff for an alternative chalet, they said we couldn't have one! I asked to speak to the duty manager who moved us to another chalet straight away. However, they appear to have taken our desire for a shower rather literally as when it rained in the night we got soaked in our beds as the rain came through the roof.

Stayed for 3 nights, we needed a base to explore the national park. Located right at the entrance of the park the resort is perfect to enjoy nature. On the negative side, the bungalows are dark, smell like “old resort”, there is no remote control for the AC (split unit) and it’s either freezing with the AC on or sweating with it off. I do understand you are “in the nature” but that’s no reason to be negligent of the wooden walls of the bungalows: have big spaces between the planks, insects coming in through these cracks, spiderwebs in the space between the window and the insect web. If I were to go to Taman Negara again, i’d Try the motels/bed&breakfast across the river. They cost a fraction of the price of Mutiara and were very animated , young westerner groups mingling with the locals. Food at Mutiara: the buffet ( we had half board) was way below expectations :(

The canopy walkway has been closed since November 2018 - potential guests should be made aware of this. We weren't even informed when we checked in with the park officials at the desk on the resort grounds - we only found out once we walked the 2 km (which we would have done anyway) to find the closure signs.
The resort is older and needs a little TLC.

This is the only accommodation within the National Park, and the money paid goes towards the park and local people. The beds were comfortable, with air conditioning, ceiling fan and fridge, although we requested 3 beds so sacrificed the space for the 'dining and living' area. There were chairs and a table on the balcony, but don't take your tea cup out there because you'll get mugged by the macaque monkeys. The staff were friendly and helpful, able to answer questions on the park and local area, book trips, and transfer our bags to and from our cabin (which was quite a long walk fromt he reception and restaurant).. Breakfast was good with a wide selection (although not the best we had in Malaysia), but I'd suggest crossing the river to one of the floating restaurants for lunch or dinner.

We were very disappointed with the accommodation co sidering that Mutiara is supposed to be a prestige hotel chain. Very dated, smelled musty and the shower and air conditioning unit were very mouldy. We mentioned this to reception several times but nothing was done. We have contacted the hotel chain but to no avail.
