When I arrived they told me that the room I had booked and paid for was occupied (?) and so was every other room on the floor. All the river view rooms were occupied and only city view was available. But they told me that they we’re going to give me an upgrade so that wasn’t an issue.
It turns out that the “upgrade” was a room on the 21st floor instead of the 51st floor, which I had booked and paid for.
Obviously unacceptable, I argued for about 20-30 min with different staff and managers when they suddenly found a room on the 51st. The room was equipped with 2 queen-sized beds instead of the king-sized I had ordered.
Not the welcoming I was expecting having arrived at night after an 11 hour flight…

Absolutely not a luxury hotel.
The room carpet was disgustingly filthy; we encountered marked dirt on the floor. Attached is a picture showcasing the abominable state of the room carpet (just one example) and a repulsive cockroach found in our bathroom.

We had the most amazing stay here. We had a club suite on the 54th floor. Very spacious and river views were breathtaking. The staff could not be more helpful & gracious.

Overall, the property is OK, definitely not 5-star. Restaurants and amenities are excellent, and rooms are outdated an in serious need of renovations. Service left a lot to be desired for a property that claims 5-stars.
We stayed here for my wife's birthday weekend, I requested a bottle of champagne and flowers for when we arrived. I requested this in writing, I called to confirm and I reconfirmed at check in. When we arrived in the room, no champagne, no flowers. I go down to reception (see note on the elevator below) to speak with the gentleman who checked us in. So he said he'd take care of it while we were at dinner. After dinner we came back to the room and there was an cheap bottle of screw-top white wine and some balloons. Extremely disappointing.
I also called the hotel two times and messaged them to arrange for a car to pick us up from the airport. They said that they could not get a hold of the transportation team, but that the transport team would take care of it. They never called to confirm, so I arranged for a black car on my own. At the airport, we ended up with 2 car waiting, even though no one confirmed.
One more thing about the elevators, if you happen to stay in the higher floor suites, 51 and up, god help you getting to your room or downstairs. They use the same elevators to get to the restaurants and bars on the 64th floor, so on a busy weekend you might be stuck 5-10 minutes just on the elevator, and that is after you paid extra for the upper floors.

Hotel was clean and comfortable. Plenty of choice at breakfast. The views from the rooftop at night were amazing.
The check-in process on arrival was slow.

Expensive food and drinks, great service, rooms, and views, which were amazing!
Outside of the hotel, everything was super reasonable.
Breakfast buffet spanned multiple rooms and diverse types of foods.

Comparing this hotel to Hyatt Regency Sukhumvit (the only other Bangkok hotel l've stayed in), the Lebua disappoints. The Hyatt isn't perfect, but it's newer so it has a certain elegance about it. While the Sukhumvit area is more fun/lively, I didn't get as good a vibe about the Lebua hotel or surrounding area.
The aesthetics of the Lebua hotel look great, impressive enough lobby, but it's the rundown nature of the bedrooms that leave a lasting impression. The furniture feels very 90's originals. Needs an overhaul.
However, the bed is comfortable and the linen crisp and clean. View of the river is excellent.
Hot water had a mind of its own. Had to call maintenance, who quickly made it better, but still offering mercurial temperatures on a whim. Also, in the bedroom, you can hear your neighbours clearly conversing (no sound proofing).
Staff are excellent at all levels, as you'd expect of the wonderful Thai culture (which I'm in love with).
I didn't go to the bars or restaurants, so l can't comment. However, the rest of Bangkok's visitors want to - so be prepared to have to wait longer than you’d prefer, to share the few elevators with every tourist who has the Sky Bar on their bucket list. I suggest the Lebua might remedy this by providing a separate elevator for bar tourists.

Wonderful stay at Lebua State Tower! Nice room on the 58th floor with a balcony facing the river, such beatiful views. The breakfast buffet was the best we have ever had: japanese, thai, indian food any many other types. Service was excellent all the way from the cleaning staff to the hotel manager, with whom we had very interesting talks.

Very nice service, but room seems a lot worn down. Since there is a small kitchen space, its missing something to eat with and to eat on. Such as cutlery, bowls, plates etc. No furniture on balcony.

Positives: Amazing buffet breakfast, probably the one of the best I’ve had, including sushi! Staff are also incredible, super friendly and courteous.
Negatives: for a reasonably priced hotel, the alcohol prices are insane. Cocktails at the roof top bar are 1,500B ($44/£34) each, I’m from London and that’s more than I’ve ever paid at the any top bars/hotels. The view from the roof does not make it worth the cost. We went up to take some photos only then went to the bar at the Mandarin Oriental instead where cocktails are less than half the price and you sit next to the river (men must where trousers there after 6pm).
Gym is being refurbished so there was very small and hot temporary area.

Got upgraded to something like a 2 BR suite. Very helpful for our family stay.
The casual restaurant by the pool is heavily overpriced. A coke is usually like 50 baht or so. But here, in all, it’s 500-ish (around 15 USD !!!) dishes start at around the same price.
