Great location and food

Beautiful boutique hotel, amazing service with very friendly staff. The view of the castle is wonderful. A little dirty carpets on the common areas, spacious and nice room.
Has a big mall just a block away which is very convenient
Not a place to walk at night, take Uber or taxis to the tourist safe areas after evening

The hotel was beautiful. I loved the view of the castle. I had from the room. Staff was very attentive if I needed anything. I wasn’t a food at the hotel. Other than that everything was good.

Our stay at the hotel was amazing. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the rooms and beds were clean and comfortable, and the highlight of the hotel is the breathtaking view of San Felipe Castle from the rooftop patio with the swimming pool.

We had a great vacation. The staff were very attentive. The buffet breakfast had enough variety. The fresh friut selection and freshly baked bread stood out. There is a pharmacy in the mall across the street. And finally the view of the San Felipe Castle was awesome!

This was an excellent hotel in Cartagena. The location was in great proximity to almost everything the city has to offer and the hotel itself was beautiful with amazing service. There was a fresh and delicious breakfast every morning with a plethora of choices and the rooms were beautiful with great views of the Castillo de San Felipe. The only downside is that the neighborhood is a little run down and as with much of the city, the locals like to follow you around selling their products. Overall, an excellent choice in Cartagena!

My girlfriend and I visited Cartagena from Wednesday, June 26th to Sunday, June 30th and stayed at the GHL San Lazaro Art Hotel. The transportation shuttle from the airport to the hotel all went smoothly. Our driver Natalie communicated with us via WhatsApp the day before and day of arrival and was there for us upon arrival. Check in went smoothly and when we arrived in our room the view of the Castillo de San Felipe from our window blew us away. That view and the outdoor pool were two main factors for choosing this location. The pool was a big bonus on a few days when we had downtime and was refreshing from the heat outside. We had breakfast at the hotel every morning and lunch once at the hotel. All the food is fresh and delicious. Hotel staff are friendly and always greet you with a smile. A few things to note, being able to speak at least a little Spanish will go a long way. Also, taxis are cheap - I would recommend taking a taxi from the hotel to the old town or getsemani, or wherever your travels take you. The bridge over the waterway that connects the hotel to the main cities is a little sketchy with homeless people. We had one incident in broad daylight with an attempted pick pocket. The nice thing was 10 cyclists/cars saw the incident, pulled over, and confronted the person. People will look out for you, but I would suggest avoiding walking that area, especially with how cheap taxis are. That is no fault of the hotel, just something to be aware of. Would stay again!

Overall the hotel was okay, decent size and quality. Location was pretty nice, right behind a shopping all, it’s around a 15 min walk away from the old town; however hotel staff doesn’t not recommend you to walk around after the sunset.

STAFF are so sweet and AMAZING. They can also speak English. Breakfast buffet and Chef to make your eggs was also good!
The pool was cute overlooking the castle. I took a $1 Uber ride (motor) to the Center. Or $3 Car ride.
Yes you can walk if you prefer, you’re looking at 20mins?
The rooms are extremely clean and big.
