The room wasn't clean and the breakfast didn't meet our expectations. There were very few things to choose Besides, it was supposed to be served till 10 a.m. but the guy picked up everything earlier.
The two guys who run this hotel are not , precisely, very nice.
I would not recommend this place. Too expensive for the service offered.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. I was visiting family nearby and never stayed in a hotel before. The isn't able to host guests anymore, so I'd always seen this hotel from the tram & been attracted to it.
Its historic character is appealing. The interiors are beautifully updated, so don't be put off by the age of the exterior. There is an elevator we were happy about, after staying on the 4th floor of a hotel in Paris without. The room was very clean but small. We were on the top level so we also had the roofline, but we enjoyed the loft-like coziness. There are more spacious rooms, but likely more costly.
Free continental breakfast was decent. The bread and croissants were delicious. If you request coffee, it's made behind the bar from a real espresso machine just like from a coffee shop. The hotel has a bar/restaurant, but we didn't have time to dine there.
The negative for light sleepers is it is literally next to the tram stop (lines 12 and 18), but that is also very convenient for easy access to the main train station (Gare Cornavin) and Geneva city center.
The area itself (Carouge) is quaint and lovely to walk around. There is a grocery (Migros) within two blocks where you can pickup ready-to-eat food, however there is no fridge in the room.
It seems to be owned by two men, so it supports local small business. We did not find the staff friendly, but that could be caused by language barriers, as well as Swiss culture. Service was good. Would stay again.

The hotel was very authentic and rustic in a traditional but quaint way. The staff were friendly and helpful although some didn’t have the best English. It was clean but the some of the fittings could do with an upgrade, one of my power points didn’t work at all. The transport links are great with a tram stop literally outside the hotel. I was emailed a free transport pass from the hotel but the website was glitchy so it didn’t work - I’m sure they could issue in the hotel but I was too late to ask. Nice area but a lot was closed while I was there (Sunday - Tuesday I suspect are the quietest days anyway).

A cute little hotel with tons of historical value!
This place has been a place to stay over at since the early 1800´s, and it´s still a lovely place. Great coffee and breakfast, impeccable bathroom, but maybe too hard a bed... the latter doesn´t matter, I´ll definitely stay here again!

I recently had the misfortune of booking a stay at Auberge Communale de Carouge through Hotels.com, and I can't stress enough how disappointing the experience was.
Upon arrival, I was informed that the hotel was overbooked, despite having a confirmed, prepaid reservation. The reception staff were unhelpful, displaying a complete lack of customer service skills; they could not offer any assistance in finding me another place to stay for the night.
I was left with no choice but to find alternative accommodation on my own and bear the cost again. Given that I had already paid for a room at Auberge Communale de Carouge, this was extremely frustrating and financially burdensome.
What further adds to the disappointment is that there has been no effort from the hotel to make amends or offer any form of compensation.
I strongly discourage anyone from booking at this establishment. It's crucial for a hotel to have dependable reservations and competent staff, and this hotel, unfortunately, fails at both.

Gabriel and staff were very attentive to us. The food as restaurant was very delicious. I would have enjoyed more selection of food for breakfast.

Very noisy with a room towards the city. Hotel was not so clean in corridors , elevator and restaurant. Rooms OK. Breakfast not great but ok.

Attention to detail sadly lacking eg bedside light falling apart and the only iron in the place not working properly. And the staff seemed more interested in themselves than the clients. Not a friendly atmosphere.

Lovely, historic hotel with lovely, helpful, and gracious hosts. We particularly enjoyed an evening dinner in the outside dining area at the rear of the hotel. Our assigned room had more than enough room for two, and was very clean and comfortable. Parking is not easily accessible for a rental car, and we would suggest it is best to book an accommodation here without a rental car. We would definitely book again (without a car).

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at Auberge Communale de Carouge. The staff were very helpful and patient with our many questions regarding the local area.
The resident chef baked wonderful treats every morning.
The bedrooms were comfortable and window shutters ensured privacy and excellent light occlusion.
The complimentary public transport pass was fantastic and we certainly used it on trams, busses and lake boats.
We will recommend this Auberge to any friends who may be visiting Geneva.
