I had a great time here, beautiful location in Namibia. Great place, service, food and staff. The only downside is the very bad connection and only wifi in reception.

Great location to the National Park for the red desert sand dunes. The Oasis room is great food was excellent and the staff were wonderful, WiFi is ver spotty and is only in the pool bar and reception area. Otherwise felt like a king for the 3 nights.

The watering spot right in front of our room #9 the animals came to drink. They lit it at night so you could see them. Love the castle and our covered deck.

This is right out of a fantasy. The architecture truly makes you feel like you are in a Moroccan Palace. The grounds were well kept, the pool was immaculate, And the staff could not have been more attentive. They greeted us at our car as we pulled up and insured every need was taken care of. They maintain a watering hole that attracts oryx which makes for a fun pastime, watching them wonder near the grounds. At Sunset, all the guests gather near the watering hall, and the staff sets up a bar so everyone can enjoy views of the sunset together. Then we moved over to the neighboring dining room for an excellent five course meal with incredible service. The room itself was immaculate. The bed was comfortable, and all the amenities such as electricity, hot water, and Wi-Fi, were readily available. This truly was a highlight of our trip and we would recommended it when staying in the Sussusvlei area.

Most reviewers will comment about how this lodge is like an Arabian castle and is an oasis in the desert. It is undoubtably very impressive, but it has some shortcomings to be aware of before making a booking.
1. We stayed for 2 nights and there was no hot water in our room. Reception arranged for maintenance to come.and he said the hot water storage is insufficient for all the guests, so if you are late having a shower, or a guest decides to take a leisurely long soak, you get cold water. THIS ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH. We didn't have showers for 2 days, having to boil water in an electric jug and wash at the sink - in a supposedly 5 star hotel.
2. The internet is woeful. There was no signal in our room and in the reception area, where I was told it was best, I clocked it at 2.5 Mbps - barely adequate to open an email. There are no TVs in the rooms, by the way, so bring a book.
3. I am a vegetarian. I advised the hotel of this by email in advance. When I arrived, I completed the registration form dietary field with 'vegetarian'. When I went to the restaurant for dinner, the set menu offered me a choice between beef and pork. Evidently, reception doesn't read the hotel registration form, as the kitchen was unaware I was vegetarian and it caused considerable consternation. To the chef's credit, he put some meals together, but I really felt like I was being a nuisance.
So, while this hotel is nice to look at, it really needs to lift its game and I wouldn't stay there again.

This is a very beautiful property, an actual castle, no 3! There were the most spectacular sunrises & sunsets, staff were wonderful. The only issue we had was there was no AC at night & the rooms were very hot & with animals nearby we didn’t feel safe opening windows (no screens)…. we couldn’t sleep either night we were there.

We arrived to unload our own bags from the car while the porters just watched us - not a good start. Nice room, beautiful pool area. We had a third bed, which was like sleeping on a brick. Dinner was a good experience - the chef went out of his way to accommodate us. The highlight of our trip was a visit to Deadvlei, with superb guide, Jason. At over $600 per night the hotel would not allow a late checkout for 2 hours as we wanted a shower after our morning excursion - quite mean-spirited. Loading up the bags was also managed by me - the porters just have no clue. In short, a rather ordinary hotel with very high prices. I would check the many other choices to access Deadvlei.

We are very glad to have booked our stay at LeMirage while in the Sossusvlei area. The rooms were very comfortable and clean, the pool a popular welcome after spending the day in the sun, and the service very attentive and friendly. I recommend the 4X4 tour as you will see some wonderful areas accessible only by sand buggy. The food was a bit hit or miss, but appreciate the difficulty of sourcing raw materials in such an isolated area. The drive to the park gate is beautiful, especially just after sunrise and the sky is bathed in sunlight.

Stunning looking hotel in amazing surroundings..... but thats where the amazement stops.
If you're not driving... forget about this place.
We were initially quoted $180 USD and later $150 USD by Hotel Reception for return for 2 from Sesriem (all of 21km away). Note: we travelled Windhoek to Sesriem, c400km for $40 USD/pp!!! As such, this hotel is VERY HUNGRY.
At the pool we ordered, or at least tried to order.... stuff as basic as toasted sandwich, or an icecream etc only to be told there was none or the icecream was only available at adjoining restaurant building, c200 yards away, and that opens at 6.....after the sun has gone down!!!
Sundowners offer nice views, albeit the drinks are extra but no problem there.
The evening meal menu is a highlight, good food, well prepared and service at the restaurant is very good.
In general, some better management, bit
of proper upkeep (relying on views only last so long, a tired building will eventually catch up to owners detriment) and offer some token value and this place could survive. If not..... this place is in danger of being a thing of the past!!
The in room brochures etc are all tattered and when asked if there was local taxi firms etc, no response was forthcoming or little assistance in general.
In short, we wouldn't stay again..... at half the price...

The location has tremendous natural beauty and the property is charming. Landscape views are excellent and the atmosphere peaceful.
Since there are already many effusive reviews here, I will cover demerits. The hotel should advise guests on the ruggedness of roads to this location and that the nearby river can flood and stop one's journey. They should also emphasize that cell phone coverage is poor and Wi-Fi is also bad (none in rooms).
Staff were very friendly and helpful but management could try harder. Night skies are beautiful but the property is covered with open lighting fixtures ( non-"dark sky") making it harder to enjoy. Our balcony door would not close, the telephone handset cord was broken, the do not disturb placards for the doors fly off in the frequent winds, the bar had no blender, the quad track is severely rutted, making quad drives an uncomfortable experience for some, dinner was mostly excellent but breakfast a bit sad. Room air conditioning cannot keep up with the heat due to leaking windows and doors so sleeping can be uncomfortable. Our housekeeper turned off the AC on one of the hottest days and that is what we returned to after an expedition in the Mirage's vehicle with undisclosed broken AC. Some guests may not thrill to open plan toilets and showers in the rooms which limit privacy or create oversharing... When I think of a "resort" or upscale lodging, I think of freedom from worry and attention to detail - this property did not quite make the grade.

We stayed for three nights in the Mirage while seeing the local sights around Sossusvlei and Sesriem and found it to be a perfect oasis. The hotel is well-designed to handle the weather and is beautifully decorated. Our room was very spacious and true 5-star comfort, despite the isolated location. We also greatly enjoyed the included generous breakfast and 5-course dinner. However, what really makes this hotel is the wonderful service- the staff are very welcoming and friendly, as well as truly professional and we we're well looked after throughout our stay.

This hotel really is a mirage in the desert. Excellent in almost all aspects, with friendly and helpful staff, exceptional food and an interesting offering of activities. We opted for a late-afternoon quad bike trip (guided and following a well laid-out trail) and were not disappointed.
What we were especially grateful for was the effort the chef put into catering for my wife's dietary needs. As a coeliac sufferer she cannot eat any gluten or lactose. However, she had the best cullinary experience in a long time (even I became jealous of the tasty offerings prepared for her, served by the chef in person). And she had no after effects at all, which is always welcome.
The spa attached to the hotel is also quite good; we had a back and neck massage.
If one wants to find fault, then the lunch needs mentioning. They do offer a light lunch at the bar area. However, we waited for almost an hour for it to be served and then only after threatening to cancel the order. The tasty food did make up for it to some extent, but here the hotel can definitely improve. Otherwise we had an excellent and relaxing time. To be recommended.

This is probably your nicest option in the region. The hotel is beautiful and although service was hit and miss (Nice people at reception, not so great at Spa and Tour Guides), this was a beautiful hotel with great scenery. If I had to give ONE suggestion, change your directions on your website and instruct people that a 4WD vehicle is HIGHLY encouraged. This was missing from the site and our drive on our little sedan on the sometimes ROCKY roads was a white knuckle adventure, to say the least.
