Great hotel, perfect central location, room was beautifully decorated, very clean, kettle coffee machine in room. Hosts very nice and welcoming. Didn’t have breakfast as we left very early in morning but eating area looked very nice with the bar too. Parking space provided. Would definitely stay again.

The hotel's hard to find, tucked away on the seafront. but location is gorgeous. I cocked up, I didn't need to be in Dunoon. I read it was very close to Gourock (where I wanted to be) & didn't realise that you need a ferry to get there. If you intend to visit, ensure you get your tickets in the Co-op in Gourock or you'll pay a premium on the boat (from the co-op they were £24.00 return for car & driver).
I booked this hotel for the proximity to where I wanted to be, the cost & some of the reviews.
The room was so small you could almost touch both walls & the bathroom was one of the smallest I have ever seen. It was very much a single room. As you turn yourself during the night I found that the mattress was sloping & tipping me out! I felt like I was holding onto stay in bad! No aircon or fan.
The room was basic with TV & kettle but no water.
Be aware that the management normally accept their last guests at 7.00pm although I was told the bar normally shuts at 10.00pm. With the unexpected Ferry journey I arrived at 10:50pm & didn't realise I needed to arrive earlier (if I'd realised, I would have booked elsewhere - I had no intention of leaving Teesside until 5.30pm/6.00pm.. Probably, my error I missed in the small print of Hotels.com).
WIFI was decent & Breakfast was OK but I think the lad serving was either new or just needs to brush up on his front of house skills. He was very forthright with no chat and seemed to be very nervous.

Such a beautiful, beautiful stay! Beautifully maintained and decorated, so clean, and so many thoughtful details and amenities. The views from the rooms are gorgeous, and breakfast was 5-star. Our table was beautifully laid before we got there and staff were so thoughtful and kind. We’d be so happy to return on our next trip!

The St. Ives Hotel was wonderful. The view of the Firth of Clyde was amazing. The breakfast options were great. Kenny and Leslie and their staff were awesome.
We would most definitely refer others to schedule their holiday stay in Dunoon at St. Ives.
