Stay away. The key will be left on front desk with note saying call a number with questions. The absentee owners will never answer the phone! There is no manager and a kid who needs to oversee the bar and everything else. Old hotel with slanted floors, low doors and fireplace that does not work. I cone to NH and VT often. This is way overpriced and not worth the $$. Restaurant does not give preference to patrons and does not allow carryout. No food! Less than 1 *

Based on the website photos and description of the property and amenities, I arrived with very high expectations. I was disappointed with the Sugar Hill Inn as it was not up to the standards defined in the promotional material. The first impression as you arrive at the door is the landscaping is unkept, the flowers on the porch are all dead and the pavers are falling off. I was looking forward to hanging out in the Tavern for a drink but it was not staffed except at dinner. The dining room is nice but the meal was just OK and not how it seemed to be described as "fine dining". Breakfast was very basic. It was indicated that at 4 pm "it is time for a small bite, a surprise from our chef." The day we went down to try it out, the bite were two muffins from breakfast and a batch a grapes. We didn't bother after that.
We never met the Innkeepers and that to me is one of the selling points of staying at a B&B - and throughout the day you had to call for assistance (which was promptly responded to). But overall, the Inn lacked an energy without someone around. The current owners bought the Inn in 2021 so perhaps the reputation for the Inn was built on the energy of the previous owner Steve Allen
So be aware that the what you see and read on the websites is not the current standard at the Sugar Hill

I very much liked how quiet it was staying at the B&B. The breakfast was great as well. However, Melanie made me pay for a drink that I had at the bar three days prior which I was very confused about. Besides that inconvenience, it was a great stay.

Sat in the tavern for a drink before we left to attend a wedding down the street and the table was dirty. Aside from that, lovely stay.

Puckett room has comfortable bed and couches. Plush carpet, and deck with chairs overlooking pool, plus front porch with more privacy. Pool area is nice and breakfast and dinner was excellent. Will stay again!

Great location in the White Mountains. Quiet, friendly service, wonderful historical home turned into an Inn. The Chef is top notch for both breakfast and dinner. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Thank you.

Nobody at reception either on our arrival, or departure - and we arrived just before 6pm and left after breakfast - around 9am.
An envelope was on the desk with keys in it when we arrived. Staying in a small hotel rather than a corporate is only justified if the character of the hotel and level of service justifies it. Unfortunately there was nothing special here, and we were basically ignored at all times.

The Sugar Hill Inn is a gem. We booked a few days before the solar eclipse, when there must have been a last minute cancellation. Other hotels were price gouging, but not Sugar Hill, which was honorable. The location was beautiful, our room was wonderful, the staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was delicious. Everything was perfect and we’ll definitely be back.

Checking in was great, came back after dinner to the place smelling like Pot, loud guests down stairs, staff shoveled the stairs and not the 18”
Of snow on the walkways, not much plowing done in the parking lot. Don’t waste your money, try somewhere else in the area

The staff at the front desk when we arrived were exceptionally friendly and inviting. The room was good sized (Nickerson whirlpool suite) and very clean. I felt very comfortable there!
The bed was large and comfortable. The tub was even big enough for my girl and I to both be in there at the same time!
All in all, this is a great destination for couples looking to get away to a scenic rural area and enjoy nice accomodations and each other's company. Highly recommend!
