We arrived on Ascencion day from the little yellow train to no bus or taxi from Villefranc to the hotel - locals gathered together at the station to take us to the hotel in a private car - refused to accept any payment. Next day we needed to do washing, again let down by taxi's to get to laundry (at the local supermarket and a local again gave us a lift but let down again by taxi's to return (not far enough). The dryer did not work so back to hotel with damp washing. Immediately hotel stepped in to dry our damp washing and then insisted upon taking us to Villafranc and a return at 5.00pm - would not accept any payments. All-round went beyond normal to hewlp and make our stay a delight.

Very close to centre and thermal baths. Bit tired & dated.

This was an excellent first stop on my first visit to Roussillon. I was greeted warmly by the owner who showed me up to my room, made sure the ceiling fan was working properly, and that everything was to my approval. I had an very nice dinner in the restaurant my first night there. The restaurant staff was charming and made good recommendations about local specialities. The breakfast buffet had extended continental breakfast which included a friendly nod to North Americans - some pancakes and maple syrup, which I didn't try, but I appreciate the gesture. My room (with balcony) overlooked the restaurant terrace which was busy, but everything quieted down promptly at 11pm when they closed. The entire picturesque town is an arboretum, with trees from all around the world, perfect for a comfortable, relaxing stay in the mountains away from the summer heat and close access to Vauban's fortifications and the Petit Train Jaune for history buffs like me.

Reasonable Hotel in a beautiful village, the room had internet, a ceiling fan but no aircon, a few English tv stations, no tea/coffee making facilities, a good sized bathroom.

The most nicely appointed hotel in Vernet, with walking access to the town center and eateries as well as famous walking trails. The mountain view from our room was striking and the room offered a balcony, comfortable bed, work station, and updated bathroom. We drove from Perpignan and took advantage of free parking onsite. There is an upscale restaurant and also a lovely patio where we enjoyed drinks. The family that operates the establishment is wonderful. Their operation is very professional, but the personable engagement and pleasant conversations with the family added fun to our trip. We relied on their local expertise for finding the trail head to Massif de Canigou. It is possible to walk from the hotel to the trail and, for the very intrepid hiker, to summit the peak and return to your cozy room all in one day. Vernet is a charming town with great access to the GR10 and we look forward to returning for our next stay at Hotel Princess. Highly recommended!

Nice clean room with seemingly all new decor and fittings throughout.
Very hot everywhere on this trip and as was the case at almost everywhere we stayed there was no air con but the ceiling fan did it's job and kept us coolish. Much better than the small table fans that most places gave us

very welcoming, very comfortable, handy for the petit train jaune, and the fortified village of Villefranche.

We spent a couple of days in the area, principally to go on the Little Yellow Train up into the mountains. The Hotel suited our purpose as it was only 6 minutes away from the station an offered free parking. There was also a bus stop nearby.

Good accommodation. Clean and comfortable. Helpful, friendly staff. good buffet breakfast.

We were disappointed with the hotel breakfast which was quite minimal for this hotel.
The proprietor was civil but not friendly.

The town was a bit depressing and whilst the common parts of the hotel were perfectly ok the bedroom itself smelt a bit stale and just wasn't really very nice. In fact, even though we'd booked two nights, we moved on after just one day.
