Quick over night stay. Staff was friendly but the loud rap music and vulgar language was not suitable for my two young kids. Clean room, laundry service was a nice plus. Would stay again.

The staff were helpful and professional. The rooms are not well sound-proofed. We listened to our neighbors well into the night. Why the management put customers next to each other in a hotel that wasn't even close to full was beyond us. One morning there was no breakfast except waffles and bagels which we cannot eat. Another morning there was no source of protein so breakfast was potatoes and juice. We chose to laugh about the inconveniences since it made our stay memorable!

If you're not a dog owner do not stay here. The place stunk like dogs. It's fine that hotels allow dogs but they should have separate rooms that don't allow dogs. Also the receptionist with greasy hair, t-shirt and sweatpants is not very professional. The breakfast area was completely unkept and they offered horrible frozen pizza for breakfast. I would not recommend staying here unless you're traveling with all your dogs.

Despicable conditions throughout the property and guest room. Filthy lobby, breakfast area, and guest room. The breakfast itself was terrible too. Nothing fresh or humanely tasty. Live and dead bugs were throughout every area of the hotel. A couple receptionists did nothing but take selfies and were inattentive to guests.

Rooms need to be remodeled, they are very small. Breakfast really is more of an after thought nothing special at all. Cookie tray in the lobby with nothing but crumbs on it, remained there our entire stay, 5 nights. Walls are extremely thin, u will hear EVERYTHING going on in your neighbor's room. Would not recommend staying at this hotel.

My daughter forgot and left her $150 earbud headphones in the room. We called and the woman working at the desk, at that time of morning, was unwilling or too lazy to go look in the room, which was 30 feet down the hall from the office. She said she would look and call back. She did neither. My daughter called the hotel again. That time the woman working was wonderful and helpful. She went to the room, talked to housekeeping, found the earbuds. She tagged them and put them in a drawer for us to pickup on our return trip. When we returned the earbuds had been stolen from the drawer by one of the staff!!! So, we decided to not stay at the Microtel that night, and went to a differsnt hotel, because of the theft. I would like someone from Microtel to contact me!

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a very disappointing experience. I booked through Expedia and checked into room 314 at approx 6:00 PM. The room door lock was malfunctioning, so I reported it to the front desk. The employee misunderstood and gave us new key cards, but I clarified it was the deadbolt that was faulty. He insisted on checking the lock first but attended to other guests, delaying our issue.
When I asked if we could move rooms before he checked the lock, he rudely interrupted me, pointed his finger, and repeatedly told me to wait. After finally checking the lock, he demanded I say "please" before giving us new room keys, which I found unprofessional.
This experience was very different from the excellent service I received at the Microtel in Nanaimo. I hope management addresses this behavior. Until then, I cannot recommend staying here.

The room was not clean when we arrived. On our second day stay, housekeeping did come in. They did make one bed but not the other. They tipped over a glass of water but did not clean up the spill. They did leave new towels but didn't take the used ones. The floors very much needed to be vacuumed, both in the room and throughout the building. The refrigerator did eventually kind of work but made noise the entire time. No breakfast was available during breakfast hours. The staff were really quite nice but very unprofessionally dressed. Very much a lack of usable and working plugins.
