The resort is lovely, yet a little far from "tourist amenities". If you are looking for total relaxation, walks along a volcanic sand beach, away from civilization, then this is the place to stay. There is a warung less than five minute's walk, and we found the most beautiful Balinese woman, Ketut, who, when asked, offered to teach us traditional cooking.
When you leave the resort, the warung is to the left, and if you want to visit Ketut, her store is to the right and right again. There is also a small market stall just down from Ketut's where you can purchase fresh vegetables at local prices. Once Ketut taught us the basics, we were happy to experiment in our villa with local ingredients.
The resort does have a restaurant, food is mediocre, but service was great. They try and have entertainment on a nightly basis, but when we were there (late March), the resort was "empty".
We did take their transport into Negara for a day of shopping which was a lot cheaper than the tourist areas around Kuta. Visit the local markets and department store.
All in all, we had a great time, but you must go with the attitude that you will be doing "nothing except relaxing" while you are there. If you want nightlife, then stick to Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, etc.

The sandy beach is 700 metres away and you largely have it to yourself but it has huge rips, unsafe for children
