The room was clean and comfortable. I was a bit surprised to be told my room was unlocked, with the key inside. Also no safety locks(only doorknob lock). Being right next to a major road, would have liked the extra security. Odd floor chair, almost looked like a gaming chair crossed with a recliner...very uncomfortable. We were only there one night. Large refrigerator, kitchen sink and microwave would be great for someone staying longer.

Very retro lodging but still comfortable and cozy! Loved the vibe!

Beds were very comfortable. The large, walk-in shower was very nice with good water pressure, but the shower head had streams of water that almost stung my skin. There's no heat or A/C in the bathroom, so it can be cold in the morning if the bathroom door is closed. There was some mold around the edges of the shower and some of the walls where they met the ceiling. The service was very good. The location is great.

The room was adequate for our needs, it did have a smell my husband bought air freshner and that helped. The bathroom was nice

Not the cabin we reserved. Room clean and comfortable .

The description is not correct, the photos are the photos of the cabins, there are no photos of the motel rooms. Very basic motel - old and stinky, the mattress was horrible (king size) - feels like you sleep on the cardboards. The room smelled like combination of a cheapest cleaning detergent and mold, moisture or something like that. You cannot open the windows to get a fresh air. In my opinion, it is highly overpriced. Any motel or hotel should offer comfortable bed and clean good bedding. We spent two nights there, and the first night was a torture for me - I needed to put a face mask because I couldn't stop sneezing...

Loved the dog park! Proximity to Acadia can’t be beat!

Lovely place! All very clean. No snack or pop machines. Missed those. No breakfast either. Nice staff, good place!

Only a 3 hour check-in window. I wasn’t going to make it on time so they left the room open with the key inside. Little creepy but fine. I got there at 7:30pm. I pulled the covers back on the bed…so much hair. Also all over the blanket. I ran out to the closest wal-mart and bought some cheap bedding and a pillow. There were also dead bugs around the room and I killed a cockroach. I wasn’t expecting anything spectacular, but for $250 a night it should have been cleaner.

This is a beautiful place and the room is so quaint and clean. The only complaint we had is the bed was so uncomfortable. But besides that we really liked it here.

There was never an employee in the motel office. Service was non-existent

Excellent communication

A great hotel option if you want to stay close to the park, but don’t want to get stuck in bar harbor. Service was EXCELLENT and the room was very comfortable, but the wi-fi was very unreliable. This is particularly problematic, as many carriers don’t offer cell phone service in the national park. So it becomes very inconvenient to not be able to check email or use the Internet from the hotel. I had to drive 10 minutes into bar harbor every day to download emails and do research for my trip.

The cabin was great with a full size refrigerator. The bed was comfortable and the shower pressure was great!

Was a great price and super close to downtown Bar Harbor. I was a little worried with the price that it would be cheap but the room was excellent. I especially loved that it was one of the few places that advertised fridges in the room. I am nursing so really needed the space. They also provided a pack and play for my baby.

Unfortunately, there were rodents in the wall behind our room (room 3) and listening to the vermin squeaking, scrambling and chewing was terrible. It kept us up and made us feel uncomfortable.
There were no staff in the front office for the three nights we were there. Housekeepers were lovely but could not help. No answering of phones. The bathroom in the room was sufficient and very clean.
I would NOT recommend this hotel and I typically do not say that.

Very convenient parking next to the main road to the Acadia National Park. Big bathroom. A bit of a moldy smell in the room but the room was very clean otherwise. Good value for money.

I really like supporting small motels but this one was rough and for the price, it was bad. The room smelled like mold, the carpet was just disgusting and the bed was so uncomfortable. The grounds were so nice, we loved the dog park area but I would never stay here based on the carpet and bed.

Beware. What you see in picture is not what you get. We ended up crowding a single motel room instead of a cabin.
This place is close to many local attractions. Plenty of parking. Located very nicely to reach any corner of the island.

I liked the fact it was a cabin. When I checked in, the lady was just sitting in for the owner/ manager. I never did see the manager. I never completed any paper work. I assume they only billed thru you as they did not see or take my credit card or any other information.

Gallagher’s Travels Bar Harbor Motel & Cabins is a delightful place to stay! Hotel staff couldn’t have been any nicer. Our cabin was just the right size for the two of us and our dog. We were able to pull up next to our cabin to unload our stuff. Comfortable bed and pillows to sink into after a long day of travel and exploration. Water pressure in the shower was spot on. The retro fridge was perfect for holding breakfast items. Extra toiletries (and coffee packs!) available in the office any time. Gravel road behind the motel provided a neat area to walk our dog without fear of heavy traffic zooming past.
This was just the place we needed to land during our stay in Bar Harbor!

We loved this place so much!! The pictures online don’t give it enough credit! The king bed/single cabin was so cozy and so conveniently placed for all our bar harbor/Acadia National park adventures!! The staff was so kind and our dogs were welcomed and even made friends with some other dogs at the little dog park they provide! Would absolutely stay here again! Thank you for a great stay!

I liked that it is family owned and that Sean Gallagher, the owner, treated us like old friends. He gave us recommendations that made us feel connected to the local hangouts and community. That is what we look for, a way in to a local place. He gave us that. Well done!

Property clean and presentable and easy to find. Sean was friendly and welcoming and knows his surrounding well.
It was a basic room and small..

Nice, clean and comfortable cabin.

The location to the park is very nice. The front desk person was also very nice but no one was around several times. There were people waiting to check in. They tried to call but the phone would ring back to the office. The cabin was small. It was just my husband and I but we barely had room to move around with our luggage in the room. The overhead light would start flashing if we left it on for more than two minutes. The shower backed up. The bathroom and shower are tiny. No counter space in bathroom. Can barely shower without hitting your elbows. It was old but clean.

Needs a lot of updates. Not worth the money with all of the choices in the area. Very disappointed.

Nice Mom and Pop hotel very close to Acadia gate and right on the free Bar Harbor
Allowed free use of their laundry
Gave great advice and recommendations
Negatives: the sheets are quite rough
So much rain this summer caused a very musty smell

I have had a great experience at Gallagher Travels. The property was very clean, quiet and i enjoyed staying there. I would like to say special thanks to Sean, the owner. Due to personal circumstances, i had to cancel the second night literally last minute. Sean understood my situation and was able to provide refund. Great place to stay and great service! Will definitely come back again.

The motel was clean, quiet and comfortable. It is very close to amenities (gas station, restaurants, etc). It is also a very short (10 min.) drive to Acadia Park and Bar Harbor village and center. An added bonus was a well maintained double-entry dog run which was a real bonus. We will absolutely return for a longer stay.
