Love this hotel! It’s quiet, in front of the train station, and the most important: there’s AC!!!

Property was across the street from the train station so very convenient.
Felt relatively safe all the time. I just liked walking back to the hotel at night with someone, Quaint cool city center area i’d nearby 10 min walk. Staff was helpful and friendly. Mantova is lovely

The hotel is right across the street from the train station, so it’s very convenient. The staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the elevator only goes up to the 2nd floor, and we had to climb one flight of stairs to get to our room. Request a room on a lower level if you don’t want to climb. The bed was firm, small refrigerator, good hot water and WIFI. Mantua is great!

Had a lot of trouble finding the entrance to the hotel, much later realizing that you have to enter through a an entirely different hotel to check in. The first room I was put in was entered through an open courtyard. The AC struggled to make a dent in the Italian summer heat. That night when I went to go to sleep there were tiny bugs ALL over the bed and pillows. I have experience with bed bugs and I'm 99% sure they were NOT bed bugs, but they appeared to be some kind of tiny mite, looked like lint until they moved. I called the front desk and they moved me to a room inside the hotel itself, which I suspect was actually the hotel on the door. I appreciated the change in rooms but it was 1am at that point and I'm surprised I was still charged for the night. Once moved the hotel was pleasant enough but left a bad taste in my mouth overall. Right across the street from the train station which is convenient but the area isn't great and a lot of questionable characters hang out the street. Can't say I would recommend for a young woman traveling alone like myself.

Just look for the ABC Hotel's front desk to check in. The room we got was surprisingly nice, across the main courtyard and in a separate building that had another external entrance. WiFi code only good for 3 devices. The room had the tallest armoire I had ever seen. There was a sign in the bathroom saying they'll charge extra if towels are used to wipe off makeup, which stains the towels. They provided facial tissues, which I thought was a nice touch. Convenient location for train travels.

Comfortable hotel, close to the historic centre and very handy for the train station. It’s a bit of a sprawling affair and seems to be several hotels combined. Check-in instructions could have been clearer, but once found, reception was helpful and check-in was efficient. Breakfast was an optional extra, that I perhaps should have taken since there was a shortage of cafés in the immediate area. The room and en-suite were clean, comfortable and practical.

The hotel is directly opposite the station but the map, photo and name meant that we had some difficulty finding it. The hotel is just across the road from the station and the frontage actually says ABC Hotels. We could not get wifi in the room itself, but elsewhere it was fine. The hotel is within 10 to 15 minutes walk of the historic centre. It is comfortable and clean and I would be happy to recommend it.

What an amazing discovery to find Mantova. Staff very helpful and town not yet overrun by tourists. Lots of history in a place for some peace and relaxation.

The hotel is hard to find as there is no sign at the front on the street. You have to look for ABC Hotel and then there is a small sign that says if you want A Casa dei Gonzaga, go to the desk for Hotel ABC. Once you find it, it is quite nice and the accommodations were comfortable.

As if often the case in Italy, Casa dei Gonzaga is one of several hotels found in this building. I am grateful that a previous review on Expedia noted that the prominent sign outside is for ABC Hotel - if I didn't know that in advance we might still be driving looking for it. We had some local Italian friends meet us there during our stay and they, too, were very grateful that I had told them to look for ABC Hotel.
Casa dei Gonzaga is well-run with efficient service both at the front desk and in the breakfast room. One of the hotel staff was particularly kind to wait for us to bring the car around so she could show us how to access the parking lot and to escort us to our room.
Our room was very comfortable; the bedroom window even had a screen (not common in Italy). The bedroom was on the small side but it had a small refrigerator, a desk, nightstands with good reading lights, a large armoire and ample floor space.
The bathroom was a good size and had a remote-controlled skylight that let in plenty of light.
Our room was accessed through an interior courtyard, up a flight of stairs to a shared balcony. We felt very secure and private.
Everything was very clean and well-maintained.
The breakfast buffet was plentiful and included scrambled eggs and several kinds of cooked meats in addition to the usual assortments of breads, rolls, cornetti, cheese, cold cuts, etc.
Once we parked our car, we walked everywhere.
Excellent hotel!
