Amazing stay. Could be more attention to minor details (better sealent in bathroom, dirty marks on the curtains and dust on top of mirrors) apart from that very clean. Great view from the balcony. Restaurant staff were brilliant they couldnt do enough for us and the food was amazing. Used the gym both mornings and its a great gym with all the equipment you would need

Looking at recent reviews I agree this hotel has sadly gone downhill. Unfriendly receptionist. No smile on arrival. I felt most unwelcome. She asked for my credit card to put on account. I said I wouldn’t be having any room service. She said it was just in case there was any damage. I’ve never had this when I’ve checked in any hotel before! I’d also like to point out that I’ve never caused and damage in any hotel in my life! Tired looking corridors with stained carpet throughout. First room, had an empty bottle of wine and half a glass of wine on side. Not sure if this room had been cleaned before I went in. I went back to reception and spoke to another (far more friendly lady) who put me in another room. This room needed a good look at! The toilet hadn’t been flushed! Broken window handle, filthy bathroom grouting, and the corners of the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned. See photos. I had to call reception while in my room but they couldn’t hear me. Phone obviously broken. So had to call them from my phone. Not really a problem but slightly annoying.
If I were you, request a room that isn’t on the ground floor as there is no phone reception. Also there was a slight damp smell too. They have put a plug in air freshener in the room but it didn’t really make any difference. The view from the window is a load of leaves, a path, and mud. There is WiFi but it isn’t the best. Stayed here before & all good, but certainly won’t be hurrying back!

Two night stay whilst in business

For a place that claims to be a top 100 golf course, you’d expect the hotel rooms to match that standard—but unfortunately, they fall far short. The room I stayed in was the most outdated and uncomfortable I’ve ever experienced, feeling more like a budget stay than a premium one. I’ve had better nights at Premier Inns, which are far more modern and comfortable.
It’s surprising that while many hotels took the opportunity during Covid to update their rooms, St Mellion’s rooms have been left behind. It’s difficult to imagine staying here again because of this.
That said, the staff were friendly, the hotel was clean, and it’s clear they’ve invested in the gym and spa, which were great. But the rooms desperately need attention.

I was moved from the room I originally booked online and the room I was given was tired and some of the the tiles on the floor looked as though they mould a new bath was needed as it was very creaky and there was something on a tile that I didn’t want to touch as it looked as though it had come out of someone’s nose , which is very unlike this hotel as when I have stayed in the past I have been very happy with my room . Hope it’s a blip .

A very clean modern hotel on a golf resort. Nice pool facilities. The hotel felt very bland with no character.

This hotel has gone downhill since our lasr visit in 2021.
Reception for checking in was very slow, 2 receptionists on phones, not speaking, ignored us for 9 minutes.
There was no dinner menu on display, even on asking in the restaurant.
At breakfast it was good that the plates were hot as the food was lukewarm. Also when a dish ran out, we had to ask for it to be refilled. A large cereal selection but no sign of the nations favourite cereal, Weetabix, but 16 packets of CocoPops, none of which were eaten by any customer during our stay.
Carpets in room had damaged areas. Also there was a considerable noise level coming through the adjoining door mainly from squeaky floorboards.

Beautiful hotel grounds, but lacking in parking. Amazing if you're massively into golf, we went more for the spa side, which was ok but nothing to write home about. Room was clean enough, could do with a little more attention to the nitty gritty areas within the room and regular cleaning throughout the day when golfers return. Unfortunately the hotel was nothing special, could have got exactly the same in a premier inn for alot less. Dining options were limited, especially for breakfast. Not a bad hotel, but certainly not the 4 stars we were expecting.

The structure of the hotel building is very tired. Green mildew on most exterior surfaces.
Carpeting throughout looks very worn and underlying structure of corridors creak and groan when walked over.
Condition of bedrooms good, but balconies suffer mildew problems.

The room was far from clean - and the reception staff weren't in the least bit interested in getting this resolved. Broken appliances in the room. A beautiful location with what is, in effect, a substandard Travelodge dumped in the middle. Out of date rooms desperately in need of a deep clean and refurb, a horrible breakfast (powdered scrambled eggs and a pathetic fruit offering)
Adequate for a group of golfers who will sleep anywhere after a few beers. Not good enough for anyone else!
Pool was fine. Sauna was hot. Steam room was not. I won't stay there again.

Swimming pool was nice staff were rude and unhelpful food was mediocre at best

The WiFi is great; there are lots of fun activities you can do. For example, playing golf, swimming, and going to the gym, you can use a Sauna bath and a steam room as well. A great place for a family holiday resort. The bar and restaurant's food were delicious. The Reception desk staff all were very friendly and helpful. Definitely will go there again.
