About this villa rental
Villa Apollon commands the ‘view of the gods’ from its hillside position above Salandi Bay right out across a seemingly infinite view of the sea. This contemporary style villa has been beautifully designed with huge glass windows, precise stone-work harmonising with softly-sculptured cement features combining the best of traditional and contemporary Greek building techniques.
The property is on three levels. The ground floor level has a light and airy open plan room with huge glass doors that slide back maximising on the sensational views. There is a living area, elegant dining area and very stylish and well-appointed kitchen. Decor and furnishings throughout are comfortable, modern and stylish with artistic touches that add colour and joy to the house.
On the upper level are two very comfortable bedrooms. The master bedroom has a super king-size bed (1m80 x 2m) and ensuite bathroom with shower. The 2nd bedroom is a double/twin bedroom (also super king-size if double) with its own ensuite bathroom with shower. Both rooms have floor to ceiling glass doors and from the bed guests can look right out over Salandi Bay. All bathrooms feature the technique of ‘tsimentagonia’ – or softly sculpted concrete – which has been used to great effect.
On the lowest level of the villa is a large bedroom with double bed and single bed. There is also a separate lounge/playroom on this level with TV, DVD and divan beds for 2 extra guests. In between these rooms is a bathroom with shower. These rooms have doors that lead out to a lovely patio and garden with a table and chairs.
Apollon is very well equipped with air-conditioning that can be controlled from every room; there are ceiling fans, a TV in each bedroom, TV and DVD in the playroom, dishwasher and washing machine as well as WIFI.
The grounds of Villa Apollon have been beautifully designed with lawns where children can play under the shade of large olive and carob trees. A meditative place to sit and take in the stillness and beauty of the surroundings is from the sculptured steps that rise from the house up into the hill and have a seemingly endless view over the pool and bay. There is a lovely outdoor dining area with large barbecue, and at the heart of the property is a stunning infinity swimming pool with sun loungers and large umbrella.
From the villa, a track leads down approx. 600m to a secluded cove with beach and crystal clear water. There is an excellent taverna on Salandi Bay about a 15 min walk away which is open daily during the main part of the season and at weekends at other times. The traditional village of Didima with shops and tavernas set in the hills above Salandi is about 10 mins drive away, and the pretty fishing village of Kilada is about 15 mins drive away.
The cosmopolitan marina town of Porto Heli is about 25kms distance where there is a larger variety of shops, supermarkets, tavernas and cafes. Porto Heli is also well-known for its watersports facilities which include water skiing, windsurfing and dinghy sailing. There are also boats for hire. For guests who enjoy historical and cultural excursions, the important archaeological sites of Epidavros, Mycenae and Ancient Corinth are all with easy driving distance as is the Venetian town of Nafplion. From Kosta harbour or Porto Heli, the island of Spetses with its upmarket restaurants, cafes and shops is just 10 mins across the bay by water taxi or Flying Dolphin.
For artistic and design-conscious guests seeking a tranquil place to unwind and relax after a long year, Apollon with its magnificent views and luxurious detailing is an ideal choice.
