About this cabin rental
Looking for a place to truly escape, unwind and disconnect? Look no further, The Albion is your perfect hideaway. Our small cabin is a short drive from Toronto (2.5 hrs) and is nestled into a small forested area at the front of our cottage property.
With spotty reception, no wi-fi or TV, this is the ultimate peaceful escape. This space is perfect for the experienced camper with everything you need for an upgraded glamping experience.
THE SPACE:
The Albion is situated at the front of our cottage property (our cottage is approx. 70' behind, with our fire fit and seating area about 40' behind the cabin), with it's own fire pit (wood is not provided), small parking area (enough space for a truck), outdoor seating area, rustic but very clean outhouse and front porch - you are essentially self contained. The front porch and lake are a birders paradise, so be sure to bring your binoculars.
There is no sink or running water at the cabin, but there is an outdoor tap next to the cabin with cold water that is safe to consume (we test our well water at the start of every year). There is also an outhouse directly next to the cabin for your use. Please note: there is no shower on the property. And we do not provide towels.
Dishes are to be done outdoors on the BBQ table (wash bins, dish soap and dry rack are provided). There is a BBQ outside and a hotplate indoors for all of your cooking needs. The kitchen is very well stocked with cutlery, cups, wine glasses, bowls, plates, pots/pans, kettle, french press, coffee bean grinder, oil, salt & pepper, min-fridge, cooking utencils.
The upstairs loft with double bed is accessible by a ladder inside, with a small living/dining/cooking area below. Bedding is provided, but guests are to bring their own towels. The cabin has many board and card games, a heater and a small fan.
There is also a canoe that’s available for your use - Let us know if you intend to use it! Please note there is no public boat launch on our lake.
Please note that the cabin is located within a small cottage community so there will be local cottagers walking by from time to time - everyone is super friendly so don’t be afraid to say hello!
The cabin is also in close proximity to the quiet dead end road our cottage is on (cabin is approx. 20’ away from road) with our neighbors cottage approximately 150’ away from the cabin.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
Please note that the cabin is located within a small cottage community so there will be local cottagers walking by from time to time - everyone is super friendly so don’t be afraid to say hello!
Mother Nature causes storms to occur from time to time at the cabin. There can be times when power is lost (and thus water to the tap). It’s best to come prepared for instances like these.
Please be sure to bring your own wood and kindling as we don’t keep track of how much wood or kindling has been left behind by others.
The cabin is also in close proximity to the quiet dead end road our cottage is on (only 20’ away from road) with our neighbors cottage approximately 150’ away from the cabin.
The cabin is not suitable for children. Bedding is provided, towels are not.
NEIGHBORHOOD HIGHLIGHTS:
The Albion is situated on a private road with deeded walk-in access to a small private lake just around the corner from the cabin (2 minute walk!). The access is shared with residents so please be respectful of them when there. Water shoes are recommended, don't be discouraged by the muck when first getting in as it quickly turns to a large sand bar. Guests are welcome to bring their own kayak or canoe to use, or can utilize our canoe.
It isn't uncommon to hear the loons on our lake daily, be sure to go for a walk when it's dark as the stars and milky way light the night sky as well as the fire flies.
Our lake is stocked often with splake and lake trout. We are also close by to great hiking and crown land.
