## Neighborhood

Villeurbanne offers all the advantages of a large city in a greener and quieter environment, with direct proximity to the chic 6th district and the Part-Dieu neighborhood. Whether by metro, tram, or bus, you’ll have quick access to all Lyon's neighborhoods thanks to the many existing public transport options.

Villeurbanne is rich in local life: young people, families, and retirees all benefit from a wealth of cultural facilities, sports complexes, associations, numerous shops, and schools, high schools, and universities.

The diversity of residents is what makes this town so unique and vibrant. Villeurbanne has a rich cultural heritage, with historic places like the Gratte-ciel, Hôtel de Ville, Théâtre National Populaire, Anatole France School, the House of Image and Sound, Studio 24, Astroballe (ASVEL), and former Bayard and Bally factories. The city is still evolving with new neighborhoods like Terrain des Sœurs, where our current program is under commercialization (Carrare).

Culture: Villeurbanne boasts a variety of venues and major events that foster creativity and connection. Public and private theaters (TNP, Théâtre de l’IRIS), the National Music School, concert halls (Toï Toï Le Zinc and Transbordeur), the IAC (Institute of Contemporary Art), an independent cinema (Zola), cultural centers (Rize and CCO), a Ninkasi brewery, the House of Image and Sound (the city’s media library), Les Invites film festival, and the youth literature festival.

Sports: Villeurbanne offers many sports facilities, including the Astroballe, home of our basketball champions!

Two major markets: The Gratte-Ciel market (Tuesday, Thursday, and especially Saturday) and the wonderful Place Wilson market (Wednesday, Friday, and especially Sunday), where you can find everything at unbeatable prices in a friendly, family-oriented atmosphere.

Recommended restaurants and places to visit in the area:

Ninkasi Gratte-Ciel: 267 Rue Marcel Mérieux, 69007 Lyon
Le Bieristan: 14 Cours Tolstoï, 69100 Villeurbanne
Le Gnafron: 35 Rue de la Doua, 69100 Villeurbanne
Toï Toï Le Zinc: 17-19 Rue Marcel Dutartre, 69100 Villeurbanne
Nearby Attractions:

The Brotteaux district, typical of Lyon, with its terraces and festive venues
The Gratte-Ciel district, the heart of Villeurbanne, featuring typical 1930s architecture (Hôtel de Ville, TNP...) and many food markets
The Puces du Canal, a charming little flea market that offers a fun alternative to expensive, trendy shops in the Pentes
The Transbordeur, one of the best concert venues in Lyon (in my opinion!), is located in Villeurbanne
The excellent library network with regular events throughout the year
The contemporary art institute, with cutting-edge exhibitions
The Invites Festival, which draws more and more locals each year
The famous Parc de la Tête d'Or with its zoo
All other Lyon neighborhoods are reachable in under 15 minutes by public transport.
