About this house rental

Recently renovated three storey townhouse with garden, swimming pool and lovely sunny terrace. Newly fitted with beds and furniture.

The property is just a 12 minute walk from the centre of Bergerac with its many restaurants, bars and colourful twice weekly market. Bordeaux and Sarlat train station are just a 5 minute walk away, as are a supermarket and lovely bakery. Bergerac airport is just a 10 minute drive away.

The kitchen and dining room on the first floor both open onto a large terrace which looks out beautifully onto the private walled garden and swimming pool.

The house has 3 floors.

On the ground floor there is a hallway with access to the garden/pool and stairs to the upper floors, as well as a bedroom with a 140cm wide bed (known as a Queen in the UK and a Double in France) and with an en-suite shower room/WC plus access to the garden patio via sliding doors. There is also a utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer.

On the first floor there is the lounge, dining room, new fully equipped kitchen and also a WC. Both the kitchen and dining room open onto a lovely dining/relaxing terrace, from which there is direct access to the garden and pool via an external staircase.

The top floor has 3 bedrooms, 2 with 160cm wide beds (known as King size in the UK and Queen size in France) and 1 with a single bed and a study area. There is also a family bathroom with shower (no bath), double sinks and WC.

The garden has a large composite terrace, soft artificial grass and a 5x2m swimming pool (1.2m deep, electric safety cover, heated if required). At the bottom of the garden is a railway line (very few trains run each day and at very low speeds).

Please note that due to the internal and external stairs (which are not equipped with child gates) the house is not well suited to very young children or people with particular mobility issues.

The main house, garden and pool are entirely at your disposal. Access to the attic and cellar is not permitted unless absolutely necessary. The front part of the ground floor of the house consists of a self-contained studio (with its own entrance/security door) which does not have access to the main house and does not share the outside space.

There are two electric bikes stored in a dedicated space just off the ground floor hallway, but these are not available for guests to use due to the rather complicated insurance requirements. Electric and regular bikes can be easily hired from the Bergerac Tourist Centre and other locations.

There is plenty of space for guests to relax and unwind. The property offers all the essentials you need including air conditioning, fast fibre optic WiFi, large TV with sound bar, Bluetooth outdoor speaker, electric BBQ, two fridge freezers and a washing machine and tumble dryer. The first floor terrace has a table and chairs and there is also plenty of garden furniture with chairs, sun loungers, tables and a parasol.

Parking is on the street and is readily available.

Please note that the property does not have child safety rails on the stairs and is not equipped with high chairs.

Please also note that whilst towels and linen are of course provided, pool towels are not.

We have just come back from a stay at this lovely house in Bergerac and I thought I would write a short review. I had been to Bergerac before – it’s a beautiful town and very easy to get to via Ryanair – and this time thought I would take my son, his wife and their daughter. I stayed in the ground floor bedroom with the en-suite and really enjoyed being able to have my morning coffee on the deck just outside. The rest of the family stayed on the top floor and we would normally get together on the deck that’s outside the kitchen and overlooks the pool and garden. It’s very quiet out there and a lovely place to have a glass of wine and some food. We didn’t actually do too much but it was great to be able to walk into Bergerac for the shops and restaurants and to go down to the Dordogne river. A great time was had by all so I’ll be telling friends about it and there’s a good chance I’ll take the family there again next year. We didn’t need to contact the host whilst we were there but he was responsive and communicative before the trip when we had questions. Jane.
