##Neighborhood
Villeneuve-Loubet in a few words...
A tourist destination halfway between Monaco and Cannes, opening onto the hilltop villages of St Paul-de-Vence and Grasse, Villeneuve-Loubet faces the Mediterranean with 4 km of seaside spread on either side of its famous Marina Baie des Anges.
A seaside resort in its own right, it benefits from water activities accessible to all, accommodation with panoramic views right on the water, a marina with restaurants, but also pretty beaches bathing in the Mediterranean sun.
Birthplace of the great chef Auguste Escoffier, Villeneuve-Loubet is a city on a human scale which has managed to keep its authenticity with its Provencal village in the land, its historical heritage, its agricultural areas. Its environment is very popular with its residents and visitors, particularly thanks to its preserved natural parks, its walks on the banks of the Loup and its outdoor leisure activities.
It is truly a base of choice for staying on the Riviera with the family. One of its strong points, its geographical location which allows quick access to the most beautiful tours of the Alpes-Maritimes.
In terms of transport, it is easy to access whether by plane via Nice Côte d'Azur Airport, by train or by car.
The old village of Villeneuve-Loubet, located on the slopes of a rocky spur, dominates the Loup valley and benefits from a view that extends to the sea.
Cultural events and activities:
The cultural and festive program of Villeneuve-Loubet includes:
The Gourmet Festivals, dates vary, spread over two summer nights and pay tribute to chef Auguste Escoffier. Numerous gastronomic tastings, notably Melba peaches, as well as Italian variety concerts are offered.
The Renaissance Evenings, dates vary, spread over two summer nights with scenography, royal procession, music, ball. Commemoration of the stay of King François I at the Château de Villeneuve during the Renaissance.
The markets: in the village, near the town hall, the weekly Provençal market is organized every Wednesday, the Italian market on the last Sundays of the month, weekly night markets in the summer, and the Christmas market in December.
In addition to the festivities common to the rest of France such as Christmas, New Year, National Day, Music Festival, etc.
The Escoffier Museum of Culinary Art
Nestled in the heart of the village, the museum, created in 1966, is located in the birthplace of Auguste Escoffier, father of modern cuisine and first ambassador of French gastronomy abroad. For the general public, he is the creator of the famous Melba peach. For all the great chefs of today, he remains an essential reference and his famous Culinary Guide is a true bible for them. Providing the best visibility of the work of Auguste Escoffier and preserving his memory, such is the spirit of this museum. Currently, seven spaces present the Master's memories: objects, crockery and utensils from the period, rich documentation, or tasty menus. “My success,” declared Auguste Escoffier, “comes from the fact that my best dishes were created for ladies.” The peach created in honor of the singer Nellie Melba has become famous around the world.
The History and Art Museum (formerly military museum)
Offered on four levels, the visit presents a space dedicated to temporary and thematic exhibitions on the 1st floor. The second and third floors house a unique collection retracing the history of the French army in the 20th century. Interesting museum dedicated to the major conflicts of the 20th century in which France was involved: the two world wars (1914-1918, 1939-1945), the Indochina war (1945-1954), that of Algeria (1954-1962 ), interventions in Chad and Zaire (1969-1984), Lebanon (1982-1987) and the Gulf War (1991).
