Relaxing, lake view, restaurant, close to activities

The rooms are up the hill and look out over the lake, it's very peaceful and beautiful. There is a restaurant at the lake level, which is great to get meals without going anywhere. People at the restaurant are all very nice, the host was very nice as well, helped me with my bags. I stayed in a studio but there are also larger apartments there. You can rent a bike there or also down the road at the little bridge - I'd recommend renting it for the full day because you can ride around the big lake, stop and swim, picnic, etc. as there are several small beautiful spots along the way. It's about a 10 minute walk to catch the small ferry boat that goes to the monastery. It looks like it was the best location for boat ride, bike rental and swimming in both the large and small lakes. It was a very peaceful few days and a beautiful little spot.

Getting to the property in the car is a little tough the last kilometer as you have to drive a one lane road along the lakeside. You drop off your bags then turn around and go back to park about a half kilometer away. Once I was there and parked, everything was great, definitely worth the walk. And that short drive doesn't seem to bother others that were driving it, just me.

Well located but disappointing.

Location is without compare. Tranquil and gorgeous.

The facility doesn’t have beds. We slept on couches covered with sponge mattress. Rooms not very clean. No shampoo, only one soap pump for all needs.

Great location, friendly staff.

Great location, right next to the big lake. One mile walk into Pomena for groceries or other restaurants. Great hiking, biking and swimming. Small room, but everything worked fine. Staff was very helpful. Convenient to rent kayaks, SUPs, and bikes right there.

Great Location. Peaceful Place

Excellent location and great views.

The rooms were a little small. The hotel is located in a bike only zone. So if you arrive by car be prepared to meet some bad tempered neighbour property owners.

Nice stay, few downsides

The room was very clean. The terrace was shared with the neighbours but big and with a nice view. The staff was very kind and helpful.

The room didn't match the pictures at all. It was very small and wasn't well equipped. The bed was - in many ways - very questionable. The "parking space" was an overgrown piece of land, ca. 10-15 min. away.

Complacency in the Garden of Eden

The Mljet National Park and the lakes in particular are extraordinary. The place is excellent for kayaking, biking, hiking and swimming. I have not seen before a Mediterranean island so well preserved in its natural state and less scarcely populated as Mljet. There are plenty of interesting plants in the area, but to see any larger animals you will have to hike. The holiday homes are of decent size and equipped with basic facilities like a toilet, a kitchenette, some wardrobes, a table, separate bedrooms, a balcony. Do not expect any luxuries. Image a very small village with two dozens of houses, some of them rented to tourists. The staff is very friendly.

This is not a professionally run hotel: expect light bulbs that require replacement, old batteries in remotes, a TV set with a single working channel, kayaks you have to clean of fallen leaves before use etc. The biggest issue is how overpriced are the restaurant and any services for the provided quality. You will pay a price of a very good restaurant in a large European city for very average homecooking experience. It is also at least 30% more expensive that on the nearby island of Korcula. The menu does not change. If you plan to stay for a week or two, you will have to face the same dozen or so dishes every day. The closest alternatives are the restaurants on the nearby Islet of Saint Mary's (equally bad) or in the village of Pomena.

Location was amazing, right on the lake. Food was delicious with a good choice & mix. Antonio, took amazing care of us & was attentive, helpful & very hospitable

A real bed could be better then a futon, but it wasn’t the end of the world.

Superb location in the national park. Very welcoming and kind owners. Eat some fish in their restaurant: fantastic food, fantastic view, fantastic people.

The room is a bit old fashioned, but the kindness of the people and the prime location compensates.

Exceptional

The place is inside the National Park, so it offers very quiet environment and stunning view to the lake from the room, balcony, and the restaurant. We also had some of the best grilled fish (gilt-head seabream) at their restaurant we've ever had!

A friendly and quiet place to stay, in a location of outstanding natural beauty

Mali Raj is situated in an outstanding location, right next to one of the two saltwater lakes in one of Croatia's national parks, on the island of Mljet. It's a small hamlet consisting only of a few houses, and no shops. The upside of this is it is very quiet, and at night there is no light pollution. We were treated to awe-inspiring views of the Milky Way. The restaurant area of the Mali Raj is right beside the lake, you couldn't ask for a better place to have your breakfast and dinner.

In my opinion, the prices for the apartments are quite high for the very basic interior, and the quality of the furniture. Mattresses are very soft, bathrooms small, and the appliances and equipment in the small kitchen very basic. To be fair, most of this can be seen on the photos on booking.com and we were prepared to pay the price for the unique location. If you have dinner in the restaurant, most of the dishes are of good quality and reasonable prices. Be careful though, fresh fish will be very good, but also very expensive. On our first night, we were offered two large fresh fish (for 7 people), and ended up with a bill of around €75 per head (including everything though: starters, wine, coffee, ...). The following nights we aimed lower.
