Nestled in the heart of Edelweiss Village, this meticulously restored chalet offers breathtaking mountain views, modern comforts, and easy access to scenic hiking trails and national parks. Once home to the Heimann sisters, pivotal figures in the Swiss Guides community, this chalet provides a cosy and welcoming escape in the Canadian Rockies.

Experience a living tapestry of diverse histories in this 928 sq. ft chalet, built in 1910, encompassing mountaineering, tourism, architecture, Swiss immigration, Canada’s multiculturalism, and the enduring legacy of the legendary Swiss mountain guides brought to Canada by the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR).

About the Heimann Sisters
Chalet Heimann was home to the Heimann sisters—Clara, Johanna, and Martha—who arrived in Golden in 1912. The sisters were integral to the fabric of the Swiss Guides community, contributing significantly to the local culture and history. Martha and Johanna later married the Feuz brothers, intertwining the legacies of these pioneering families. Clara Heimann, known for her warm hospitality, ran the local tea house, a popular spot for climbers and tourists. This chalet stands as a testament to their enduring legacy and the rich heritage of the Swiss Guides in Canada.

Nestled in the heart of the breathtaking Canadian Rockies, Edelweiss Village + Resort offers meticulously restored Swiss chalets, a unique blend of heritage and modern comforts, providing an unforgettable stay for adventurers and relaxation seekers alike.
• Heritage & Preservation: Meticulously restored chalets preserving the unique heritage of the Swiss Edelweiss Village, established in 1911 for the Swiss Guides and their families.
• Prime Location: Situated adjacent to the northern boundary of Golden, our resort serves as a gateway to iconic national parks including Yoho, Glacier, and Kootenay. Enjoy easy access to the Golden Skybridge and Adventure Park for thrilling activities, world-class skiing at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, and diverse recreational opportunities in the surrounding area.
• Charming Accommodations: Stay in our beautifully renovated Swiss chalets, rich in history and surrounded by picturesque landscapes. Ideal for family vacations, group getaways with friends, or guests celebrating special occasions, these chalets provide a cozy retreat with all modern amenities.
• Unique Experiences: Explore forest trails, enjoy the local arts scene, and relax in the serene environment of our village.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
We are excited to share this unique Swiss experience with our guests. It has been a privilege to work on this project to restore and preserve the history of these lands. Please note that while we are thrilled to have our first guests stay with us this Fall 2024, guests must be aware that there will be construction on site, landscaping is still being completed, and there will be workers on the premises during your stay. Please be patient with us as we continue to improve the land. If you have any questions about the construction on site, please feel free to contact us.
• Parking: you can park in front of the chalet. Many additional parking options are also available nearby
• Pets: not allowed
• Smoking: strictly prohibited
• Notes:
• Please note that this is not a ski-in/ski-out property, but its location provides guests with easy and ample access to backcountry and cross-country skiing
• The fireplace in the living area is inoperable until further notice
• The chalet does not have an oven, but stovetops are available. The property is also multi-level, which may not be suitable for guests with mobility issues
Please note that to provide host and guest liability and damage protection, you will receive a secure link upon booking to complete a virtual check-in through a guest portal. A pre-authorization of $600 will be held on your credit card 7 days ahead of check-in, through to check-out.
