About this chalet rental
Location
Chalet Rafaelle, nestling in the foothills of Mont Blanc Blanc in the beautiful resort village of Combloux is furnished to the very highest standards. We are just 50 metres from the nearest ski slope, a short walk down to the village centre and just a few minutes’ drive from the ultra-chic resort of Megeve.
The Alpine village of Combloux ("Pearl of Mont Blanc"), one hour from Geneva and just a short (3km) drive from Megeve, is a well kept secret and is the perfect location for family vacations, both winter summer.
Layout
This magnificent chalet is laid out over three floors, offering five star accommodation, and spectacular views from every room. With five double/twin en-suite bedrooms and an en-suite bunk room, Chalet Rafaelle sleeps 12, ideal for up to three families or a group of friends.
Each of the bedrooms and bathrooms has been themed to combine traditional craftsmanship with cool contemporary styling and lighting.
The huge open-plan living area has plenty of space for everyone to relax in comfort, incorporating an open designer kitchen, separate dining area with seating for 12-14 and adjacent breakfast bar, which opens out onto a huge terrace looking onto three mountain ranges; Le Mont Blanc Massif, L'Aravais, Les Varens.
Designed to take advantage of the vista, the large living room has a cathedral ceiling with floor to ceiling windows and a fabulous central stone fireplace.
Winter
Combloux, a true winter wonderland, with picturesque tree-lined skiing, back-country powder and flattering off-piste runs, interspersed with the coziest mountain restaurants, has breathtaking views and a genuine Savoyard feel with something for skiers of all ages and abilities.
The resort packs in a huge amount of variety into its 100 kms of pistes and links seamlessly with over 300 kms of runs in Megeve in the three main ski areas of Rochebrune, Mont d'Arbois and Le Jaillet, resulting in the massive Mont Blanc Evasion ski domain. All of the pistes are immaculately groomed and if you can't decide where to ski, help is hand from the resort's 70 ambassadors, waiting at the foot of the slopes each morning.
Apres ski in Combloux is quiet compared to the night life in nearby Megeve, with its medieval town centre, horse drawn sleighs and seriously smart restaurants. There are several bars and restaurants located at the bottom of the Combloux slopes and in the village, but Chalet Rafaelle is located in such a superb spot, it is difficult not to want to head home after a day on the slopes and enjoy the 5 star comfort chez nous, with views of the Mont Blanc mountain range lit up in pink, as the sun sets in the evenings.
Summer
When the snow melts and the skiing stops, the range of exhilarating outdoor activities on our doorstep just keeps on going, all year round. The astounding beauty of the French Alps in summer is hard to beat and Haute Savoie remains one of the best kept secrets for those with a sense of adventure, nature lovers and families in search of summer fun…there is something for everyone in the mountains.
From parapenting & hot-air ballooning above the Alps, to white-water rafting and hydrospeeding, or canyoning down waterfalls and spelunking (potholing) beneath them…the opportunities for excitement are endless.
Whether you want a family adventure on zip wires through the tree canopies (or even between peaks on Morzine’s Fantasticable) or simply experience the mountains through the countless array of amazing hikes, from short strolls to multi-day glacier treks, staying in mountain refuges, the area caters to all ages.
Mountain biking is extremely popular locally and we are surrounded with a wide range of dedicated trails, perfect for the experienced mountain biker, as well as less intense routes for us more discerning types. Use the resort’s ski lifts (if you want) to get altitude, then spend all day off-road, ending back at the chalet for a well-earned cold drink or two!
Oh, and did we mention there is also horse-riding, golf, tennis, thermal mountain spas and beautiful mountain lakes …why not try slack lining, beach badminton, stand-up paddle boarding or simply a picnic with stunning views, all on your doorstep.
Try the Alps in the summer, we think you'll like it.
