About this house rental
Connect with nature and fast wifi in beautiful Auke Bay. This monthly 3 bed / 2.5 bath is relaxing and private with two parking spots, a big kitchen with granite counters, a king bed, a jetted tub, an adjustable-height desk, smart home features, and nearby trails. Take a short stroll to Deharts, Auke Lake, Auke Bay Cafe, Yoga, Brewery, city busses, and even the UAS dorm's Snow Bus stop. Stretch your legs via well lit and plowed paths from the back gate or hit up a 24-Hour gym close by.
The space
This home has a low-key and natural atmosphere that doesn't try too hard while having nice finishes and little luxuries where it counts.
There are various places to work quietly and comfortably as well as take a professional looking Zoom call.
To handle the extremes of daylight and darkness, there are blackout shades in the bedrooms and light filtering shades in the living areas.
To amp up the cozy vibe, you'll have smart thermostats, 4 space heaters, 2 heated blankets, extra throw blankets, and hot coffee or tea to get your blood flowing at the start the day.
To catch up on your vitamin TV, you'll have a 42" Samsung Frame Smart TV which can be set up to look like art when you're not using it. There's an easy chair nearby and a few books to read. Upstairs, there's a beginner guitar to play.
You will have a few plants as roommates during your stay to keep you company and brighten the place up.
Your neighbors will be Coast Guard, State workers, Tradespeople, Police, and other professionals. Everyone's friendly. No one pries. It's not a party neighborhood. Celebrations, dinner parties, and backyard hangs are welcome as long as they end before 10pm.
There is potential for 4 total sleeping spaces if you include an inflatable mattress which can be set up on the second floor or in the master bedroom. The occupancy limit assumes that you will share beds and that you will let us know if we need to put out the inflatable mattresses and extra bedding for your stay.
Otherwise, there are three bedrooms (with the primary workspace located in the bedroom with a convertible sofa bed). Each bed has a memory foam bed topper except for the inflatable. Beds sizes are 1 king bed, 1 full bed, 1 full microfiber futon sofa), and 1 full size inflatable mattress with built-in headrest.
The office has a spare monitor, standup desk, two desk chair options, a ring light, a conductive charger, USB ports for more charging, a charging lamp, a conference call speaker, and a shredder.
The kitchen island has two USB ports for charging and a Google Max hub for cooking videos, recipes, music, weather, and smart home management. The dining room table can be used to puzzle, work, eat, etc.
You're set up for cooking with many kitchen essentials and extras. The air fryer oven doubles as a toaster and cooks pizza and small dishes in a flash. The Keurig makes single-serve coffee or a full pot and there is a french press, but you'll need to venture out for espresso.
The balcony sits on top of a parking courtyard with a view of Thunder Mountain. You'll see and hear eagles, gulls, and ravens flying around in the wind above. A thick fog frequently rolls in and out of view to the bay along with the birds.
When the snow comes, you'll meet all of the neighbors if you feel like shoveling some snow for exercise and socialization, but our plower will eventually come anyway so it's cool to just hole up with the books and movies and hot cocoa instead.
In the backyard, there are plenty of seating options, a patio table, a corn hole setup (inside the garage door), a rugged garden, and a small fire pit. There are also two gigantic Rhubarb plants and (hopefully) some strawberries back there. You are welcome to cultivate and harvest them.
Guest access
You'll have private access to the entire home and its 1,440 square foot living area along with a simple, rugged, backyard with fire pit, Adirondack chairs, and patio views of Thunder Mountain. The garage is for use on a limited basis to manage the trash and recycling or to access the electrical panel.
Other things to note
You're welcome to add your own accounts to the Smart TV and Google Home. There's free basic TV programing via the Samsung Smart TV app. Pandora and Spotify are both set up, but you'll have to sign in with your own account to remove the ads.
There are smart speakers throughout the home.
There are Kettlebells, TRX, and a yoga mat to use as well.
