Our stay was amazing from start to finish:
- lovely, helpful staff and management who even organised a birthday cake for my husband's birthday
- gorgeous, comfortable room with views of both Sigiriya rock and Pidurangala rock
- delicious food - we had breakfasts and dinners there and each dish was spot on
- lovely grounds and pool area
We were unlucky with the weather as it rained a lot during our stay and as a result had to deal with wet clothes. Having a dedicated space to hang wet garments to dry would be great as I felt bad draping our stuff over the lovely furniture.

Of all the hotels we have stayed at in Sri Lanka, this is our favorite.
We booked 2 villas for the whole family, and they were magnificent.
It's worthy of a 5-star luxury hotel
attentive staff and made-to-measure service
High-quality meals and breakfast
Very good value for money
Nothing he was just perfect

Very remote but lovely to have the jungle and wildlife so close. Superb for bird watching. Very helpful staff.
Difficult access to town after dark.

quiet stay, good food
friendly staff. except manager was a not too friendly to our driver
in the middle of the jungle, there was an elephant nearby the fence
very expensive in comparison to our other (5 star) stays.
did not understand us that well.

Everything is amazing. The rooms have the best views overlooking Sigiriya and Pidurangala and they are extremely comfortable and clean. The restaurant offers amazing Sri Lankan food. It is a must try. The curries come with lots of trimmings giving you an opportunity to really understand what the cuisine is all about. Exceptional indeed. We will definitely be back to Roo Mansala next time we visit. I doubt any other property will be able to provide the same level of service and comfort.

We spent five wonderful nights in Roo Mansala in April 2023. As this was our first trip to Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle, we chose a location from where we could reach a lot of historic sites (such as Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, and Dambulla) during a day trip, which worked perfectly fine. Both Sigiriya rock and Pidurangala are within walking distance (15-20 min.) from Roo Mansala, which eases a sunrise hike to either of them.
Roo Mansala is a rather small boutique hotel with 8 rooms situated directly in the jungle, which means you can completely relax as you hear nothing but the sounds from the jungle. It also means that if you are looking for a place to go out and party, this might not be your choice. If you do enjoy nature, you will be stunned by the local flora and fauna, we spent hours lying at the pool or sitting on the balcony while trying to spot exotic birds in the trees and bushes.
The hotel is privately owned and managed, which is evident in an individual and tasteful design of the rooms and the premises and sets the hotel apart from large chain hotels. The hotel staff was highly attentive and courteous throughout our complete stay. The rooms are modern with a touch of Sri Lankan heritage, but what amazed us the most was the garden around the hotel. A lot of fruits, vegetables and herbs to be used in the kitchen are grown directly on the hotel grounds.
Food was amazing, for breakfast there was a choice between a Sri Lankan or a Continental option (we mostly chose the former), both were equally good. As the hotel is in a remote area, expect to have dinner there as well if you are not on a trip. A lot of international and local dishes are available on the a-la-carte menu, everything we were served was fresh and tasted excellent.
There is nothing we missed or did not like during our stay.

We loved that this was a small boutique hotel experience. We had the most amazing views from our balcony. Our room was very spacious and the air-conditioning worked perfectly (essential when it was 38oc and 100% humidity outside). The hotel team were really lovely and attentive without being intrusive.
The pool was relaxing and refreshing and the gardens surrounding it and the villas were really beautiful.
Roo Mansala has taken extraordinary care with their chef and restaurant team. The food and service was absolutely 10/10 and reasonably priced for dinner. Every breakfast was served with care and little extras which were delightful.
One night we had a colossal storm with crazy wind, lightening and torrential rain. Because of the wind we had water that came in under the balcony door. We were able to use our towels to mop it up, but the hotel team called to check if we were ok (it was an unusually severe storm). We didn't want anyone to risk walking in the storm to mop up the water and were perfectly ok to wait it out until it was safe for them to help. Which they did quickly while we had dinner once the storm had passed.
The wildlife, birds, lizards etc were fascinating and we really enjoyed being so close to the nature.
Look out for the fireflies at night, walking from our villa to the restaurant was a treat when we saw them - so beautiful.
The bed wasn't very comfortable and the sheets could do with an upgrade.

Our stay at Roo Mansala was truly exceptional and we loved every part of it :)
The accommodation is located in between of Lion Rock and Pidurangala right inside the forest within a lush green environment and you can see both of the rocks from your room. Roo Mansala is an amazing place to relax and calm down. The pool and garden of the villas is perfectly clean and neat and you can just enjoy and rest from the day tours there, have a cold drink and listen to the birds flying around.
Last but not least, the food was also extraordinary. everything is freshly prepared and from local produce and tastes amazing. The prices are great value.
We want to thank the whole team for their great job and the warm welcome at the property!!! We would love to come back one day.

we came with high expectations already but they were exceeded by far: beautiful location in the middle of the jungle, great, heartful and very accomodating staff that also focusses on the little details, we felt like the king of the jungle. Great restaurant with excellent breakfast and dinner. By far the best hotel during our Sri Lanka trip.

Amazing location in a very peaceful countryside/ jungle surrounding with nice walks and bicycles to hire nearby.
Top floor rooms have a lovely view of the Sigiraya rock and are beautifully furnished with all necessary amenities including a very efficient air conditionning.
Hotel was only opened in 2018 and is beautifully maintained. However , what makes the difference is the staff who are absolutely amazing and
very helpful.
The food for breakfast and dinner with international and Sri Lankan food was delicious.
It was one of the best boutique hotels we visited. We would definitely return to Roo Mansala if we go back in Sigiraya.

Charming boutique hotel with friendly attentive staff! Walking distance from both rocks. Amazing food, best we had in our whole 2 weeks trip in Sri Lanka. It looks even prettier than in the pictures. Would stay here again any time!

A delightful place to stay, tucked away in the jungle and, with only six apartments, sympathetically built for the environment. We had a quiet and spacious room; the pool was invaluable for cooling off in and a decent size for swimming. There was a real sense of community amongst all staff as they worked hard, in a difficult period for Sri Lanka, to ensure that all guests enjoyed their stay. Lots of helpful advice was available about transport and excursions. The food was good and we particularly appreciated the freshly picked flowers on the breakfast tables and the kind gesture of a cake for my husband's 70th birthday.

This is a really beautiful resort. The entire resort is spotlessly clean and the view from our room was incredible. We ate all our meals on site (breakfasts, lunches and dinners) - the food was top class. All of the staff were excellent - so helpful and professional. I would definitely recommend a visit to Roo Mansala Boutique Villas.
Ideally there would be access to spa facilities but this wasn't an issue.

This beautiful hidden gem is located very close to Sigiriya and Pidurangala. We had the best view of both rocks from our villa. We took a tuk tuk which was arranged by the hotel to visit the Lion rock in the afternoon. The room was very spacious and in immaculate condition. Our kids really enjoyed the clean pool. The roads to get to hotel adds value to the adventure. Nice ambiance at the restaurant at dinner time and food was delicious. Lovely breakfast platter too. Amitha and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic time. Highly recommend this little gem if you are visiting Lion Rock and Pidurangala.

Impeccabel service from all staff members! The room is extremely comfortable with a very comfy and large bed and beautiful balcony. Delicious breakfast and dinner! We were very suprised to be greeted by the Chef during our dinner, such a perfect detail. Very happy to have chosen Roo Mansala for our two night stay! I couldn't recommend more this hotel for future guests.
As the hotel and many others are literally located in the middle of the jungle it might be a bit challenging for your driver to get you there. Nevertheless, the hotel got in contact with us few days earlier to ensure the hotel would get in contact with the driver so they could speak in their own language and sort it out.
