A great property with a great host in a beautiful location. Everything we were looking for, for a quiet fortnight in the mountains.

This is a wonderful place; surrounded by mountains, beautiful gardens, secluded pool, nearest town is a few minutes drive & has wonderful restaurants, a boho feel, great shops.

We had a lovely quiet week in the mountains. A real treat to do not much, and what a setting in which to do it!
We made the effort to go pony trekking one day but we otherwise content to just relax. And if that is what you need then this is the place. Comfortable, clean, and with everything you need.
Thank you Janet and her family.

We spent a wonderful 2 weeks at Casa De La Era at the end of July 2023.
The location is absolutely stunning being surrounded by mountains and the property itself is spotless.
However, the real gem is the gardens and the pool, the photo's of which really don't do it justice. The gardens have a huge variety of flowers and there are numerous spots to sit in the shade and contemplate life ! The pool area as well is wonderful and very welcome when the heat becomes too much.
It's also a great place from which to explore the area, Orgiva itself has plenty to offer and then there's the white villages up in the mountains which are certainly worth visiting and exploring.
We also drove down to the coast (about an hour away) and spent time swimming in the sea and snorkelling at Nerja which is also a great place to spend time.
We won't hesitate to return and look forward to it !
Thanks to Janet, Katie, Oscar and Duke for a fantastic holiday x

Stayed as a couple for eleven nights in June 2023. The highlight is the beautiful garden and tranquil pool area. The finca itself is charming, very well equipped and the host Janet was always on hand to resolved anything that may crop up or offer recommendations (whilst absolutely maintaining privacy.)
Would highly recommend.

A true paradise
Wow! What a beautiful and idyllic property with the most amazing tropical gardens and stunning pool. It is the perfect place to relax and fully unwind. A true paradise!
The house is extremely well equipped and spotlessly clean. There was even UK TV.
Janet and Katie live next door are excellent hosts, always available for advice on what to do/where to go but at the same time giving us complete privacy. We are missing
Casa de la Era already but looking forward to return visit, hopefully soon.
Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday

Fantastic location and garden!
House was good, certainly all the screens for the musquito's.
The very short time of warm water was a pitty.

Beautiful location and great facilities...
We stayed for one week in mid October. The grounds are their own little garden of eden, beautifully designed and well kept, it's always nice to have some grassy areas for kids to play on. The pool is a good size and is gated off for safety. The house is very nice and bright with various glass bricks to let the sun in. Kitchen wise there is everything you could ever need. The bedrooms were all super clean and well presented. The location was easy to find, with detailed directions provided, and shops were very local just five minutes away and there was even one (the bakery) open on Sunday, which was handy for our arrival day. Janet was very welcoming and provided information on local attractions to visit. Overall a well recommended idyllic spot and we hope to visit again in the future.

Lovely Quiet Retreat in the Mountains
The Cassita has everything you need and is quite comfortable but the real treat is the beautiful garden and pool area. Lots of different seating areas each providing a different view and all surrounded by the mountains.
Janet, the owner lives next door and was helpful and it was a nice touch to find a bottle of wine and some olives waiting for us.

Mountain Retreat
My wife and I stayed here for a week in Sept 2021, we where looking for a peaceful relaxing get away and that's what we had. Casa de la era is well positioned far enough away from town for the tranquil setting we were after but close enough to pop in to pick up some groceries or for dinner. The casa has everything you'd expect a well equipped kitchen, bbq and even English TV channels. The pool area is beautiful and great for a relaxing end to a day sightseeing. There is plenty to do in the area from visiting the beautiful white towns and also close enough to pop down to the beach. Janet was lovely and the perfect host, living next door we knew she was on hand if we needed anything but at the same time gave us complete privacy. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Casa de la Era and hope to return in the future.

family journey with 2 young kids and one baby during summer:
Gardens and swimming pool are just amazing! The house and surrounding are very clean. The owner lives next to the house with discretion and very serviable.
The nights were very hot and unfortunately no air conditioning: some difficulty to sleep.
This journey will be better with bigger fridge and dishwasher.

A perfectly formed little place
We loved spending time here. It was peaceful and oh-so-beautiful! The whole property was immaculate and ultra clean and had everything we needed. If anything I would’ve loved a dishwasher, mostly because teenagers don’t really do washing up...
The gardens are glorious and there are spaces for everyone, we all found our favourite spot to hang out.
The pool is lovely and fresh and surrounded by greenery and there’s shade too if you need it. And the palm tree is fabulous!
Thank you so much for sharing your property Janet. A little piece of heaven. We’ve recommended it already to a few friends.

Beautiful house and stunning scenery
Just as we’d hoped... quiet neighbourhood with beautiful views from all angles. Spent many happy hours around the fabulous pool. Also found some wonderful beaches, mountaintop horse riding and great aqua park. Would highly recommend.

Idyllic!
We had a great time staying at Casa de la Era. It’s a lovely place to relax and unwind. Beautiful gardens, refreshing pool and impressive mountain views. The house has been beautifully decorated with clever pebble and beam details. We enjoyed sitting under the leafy terrace having our meals and playing cards.
We spent a day in Granada and another touring the Alpujarran villages as well as trips into Órgiva for food supplies and meals out.
My daughters (11 and 13 years) spent most of their time in the pool and enjoyed visits from Tilly the cat and the geckos.
We feel very lucky to have spent our holiday here this year and thoroughly recommend.

An oasis
Perfect place to chill out away from the beach. Awesome scenery in the mountains, and the owners have created a lush garden and cosy casa. It was exactly what we needed.

Delightful
The property is ideal for a relaxing stay although Granada, the coast and plentiful walks are within an hour's drive. Orgiva is only 5 minutes away with a good choice of bars and restaurants. The casita is equipped with everything you might want - toys, books, DVDs, CDs, British TV, breakfast supplies on arrival - and is clean and comfortable. The large gardens and pool area are well-kept, the latter being unheated although we took several dips in early October. Janet, the friendly owner, lives next door and is happy to help. I would highly recommend this property.

A lovely oasis for calm and relaxation
A lovely place to stay to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The villa is small but perfectly formed. Very clean and with all the amenities you would need. The owners live next door so on hand if you need them but not intrusive. The gardens are truly delightful and the pool - a little oasis with the most stunning date palm and gnarled ancient olive trees providing shade. There is a little noise from the road but nothing you really notice. Trips to Granada and Seville easily accessible by car and well worth the effort. We had a delightful stay and despite some stormy weather days enjoyed ourselves, feeling refreshed for the trip home.

Perfect privacy in a peacefull oasis of beautiful gardens
The Villa and gardens are better in reality then the photos. If you are looking for peace and quiet in rural Spain then this is the place for you. Janet was an ideal host around for advice when needed but keeping out of the way to allow privacy, she was ably assisted by her daughter Katie looking after the pool every day before we got up and then the odd bit of help from Oscar her grandson.
Highly recommended for a quiet relaxing holiday in a spectacular setting.

Lovely and relaxing
After a couple of days staying in Granada it was a nice easy drive to Janet's fabulous Casita. After the hustle and bustle of the city it was great to relax in the beautifully maintained gardens and the pool. As has been mentioned by others, Janet and her family are welcoming, friendly and not intrusive in the least, but they are there if you need them which we found reassuring. The house has real character and is well equipped plus the mid-week watering is something to behold.
Would recommend highly.

Two fantastic weeks
We spent two fantastic weeks at Casa de la Era in August 2017. We are a family with a boy and a girl and all of us absolutely loved it.
The house is very clean ,had everything a family needs and was very cosy, peaceful with a lot of charm and a lovely terrace.
The pool area is just amazing & safe. The gardens were stunning, enchanting, with beautiful trees and plants. The irrigation system was spectacular as well as the mountains view. The location is perfect for exploring the region & Las Alpujarras. About 35 mins drive to the beach and slightly longer to Granada. In addition, Janet is a great host and has been very welcoming.
We would certainly recommend it to anybody.

Wonderful holiday in a fantastic property with stunning pool & gardens - highly recommended!
My wife and our 7 year old twins had a simply superb holiday at Casa De La Era, and are grateful to Janet, Katie and Oscar for welcoming us to their wonderful property.
We have stayed in many villas & holiday homes in several countries with private pools, but I can say without hesitation that this is the best place we have been. Every small detail has been carefully thought of, from the Winnie the Pooh bedding on the kids' beds, the great selection of board games and books, knife sharpener (don't you hate those normal awful holiday home blunt knives?!).
The lovely Casita is very well appointed with a comprehensive kitchen area, 2 good bathrooms with powerful showers, a good size living room with British TV, books & games, and 3 nice bedrooms which were ideal for our family. The house has some lovely touches throughout - coloured glass bricks, nice roof lighting, stained glass panels in some windows. All of these let in lovely light and colours at various times of the day and make you realise and appreciate that everything here has been carefully considered and thought through with the guest in mind. There is a lovely outdoor, shaded terrace which got some nice sun in the morning and then was covered for the rest of the day. It was great fun playing games with the kids and eating our BBQ dinners there.
And all of this is before we come to the stunning gardens & gated pool (ideal with the kids). The pictures on the website don't really do justice to how nice (& how big) the gardens are. Again, everything has been carefully thought through. Strategically placed benches that all get sun at different parts of the evening - it was lovely to sit with a G&T and relax before dinner (PS don't buy lemons as there are plenty lemon trees in the garden). The gardens are watered via an ancient irrigation system every week & we all enjoyed getting involved & helping water the plants!
The pool area was excellent with a gate on the entrance, lovely gazebo area & lovely trees giving shade throughout the day - great to cool down, relax and wind down on holiday.
I can honestly say this was a fantastic, peaceful and relaxing holiday that the whole family loved. My only disappointment is that we couldn't stay longer - I'm sure we will be back soon. Go and book this lovely property - you will not regret it!
Thanks again to Janet, Katie & Oscar who made us very welcome and have clearly put their hearts & souls into making Casa de la Era such a special place!

Relaxing week at this casita with gorgeous garden
Very much enjoyed our stay at this characterful casita with beautiful garden and pool; ideal for relaxing, reading and as a base for exploring the region. The property and facilities were very clean, well maintained and with plenty of information regarding the area and what was of interest.
Janet, the owner, is a lovely host and made us feel welcome with helpful advice on travelling into Granada and villages to visit in the area. Our favourite trip was to Trevelez, a village high in the mountains set in a lush valley with stop offs en route to take in the stunning views.
After our week here we had 2 nights in Granada with an easy drive to this memorable city, must not be missed.

Just fabulous!
We had such an amazing week here. The house and garden are both beautiful and immaculate and we were able to totally relax. A lot of care and attention goes into the beautiful paradise gardens and accommodation, we really couldn't fault a single thing. Janet and her lovely family are welcoming, friendly and extremely accommodating to guests but not intrusive in the least, they are there if you need them but you have complete privacy and the free run of the fantastic gardens.
This has to be one of the loveliest places we've ever stayed. Wonderful house, full of character with all you need and more, gardens and grounds - out of this World, secluded tropical haven, fantastic pool and pool terrace and a stunning location in the Alpujarras - the watering ritual was fun to observe too! We would highly recommend! We plan on going back most definitely!

Beautiful, peaceful Spanish retreat
Casa de la Era is a fabulous place to stay. Surrounded by the magnificent peaks of the mountains and set in the most beautiful gardens, it is a little piece of paradise. The house is very well looked after and the pool area is just fantastic. Janet and Katie work so hard to ensure that your stay is as trouble free as is possible. A great place to escape to and get away from it all.

Tranquillity, a haven of rustic paradise
We have stayed many times at this property with my daughter who is now 10 and was only 2 when we first visited. Well kept, clean and everything you need is found in the villa. Janet, Katie and Oscar are so lovely and helpful! The gardens and pool are so peaceful, tranquil and absolutely beautiful and also BIG! Plenty of room to run around and it feels completely private too. I would recommend to everyone I know but also want to keep it a secret :) The local town is very small rustic and sleepy but has great restaurants and supermarkets. Not too far from Granada itself and only a 40min drive away to the coast. We love it

Perfect villa stay
Couldn't ask for a better small villa. Very well equipped and lovely attention to detail. The gardens are stunning and the pool is lovely. Good location for trips up to the alpuharras and day trip to Granada. Hosts are great too and on hand if needed.
Would recommend wholeheartedly!

Exceptional and Stunning Casita
We saw the details of this lovely casita 3 years ago but at that time, it was too small for our family's needs.
However, it stuck with us and Janet was also great to deal with, so we picked up with her again and booked for this summer.
As we arrived on a typically sunny Spanish summer's day and having driven up the steep drive, we walked through the gates into a stunning oasis.
The gardens are amazing. Janet is a keen gardener and you can tell that she has real flair in the way she has designed and planted it.
Around the pool area, the incredible planting continues and the magnificent date palm provides natural dappled shade. We loved this area.
As with the gardens, the casita is beautifully kept and you can smell the fresh linen and towels as you walk in.
Janet and her late husband have created a superb home and holiday casita and we felt privileged to have spent time there.
We drove into Orgiva to eat most evenings and found a great selection of restaurants which provided fabulous food.
As pretty fussy people (me particularly), we can highly recommend Casa de la Era.
It was a compete joy to spend our week there and hope one day to visit again.
Thank you to Janet and Katie 😀

Beautiful gardens in magical location
We had a wonderful holiday - this is not only the most relaxing away-from-it-all retreat but also a wonderful location for visiting Granada, mountain villages and the seaside. The house and gardens are immaculate and very well-maintained offering all you need for a comfortable visit. We really enjoyed the swimming pool and especially appreciated the thoughtful garden design that ensured plenty of shade, however hot the weather became. Our real highlight was the gorgeous terrace where you could eat your meals, read and chat - a magical environment. We will never forget star-gazing too! Though we stretched the accommodation to capacity (3 children - 13,10,9 years) this was no problem as the house itself is very comfortable and well-organised. Highly recommended!

A beautiful oasis in a great location
Had a wonderful relaxing stay at the Corjito. Janet and Katie made us so welcome during our 9 day break. The Corjito and pool were perfect, made even better by the beautiful gardens - the watering of which was amazing. I would recommend the Corjito to anyone and we will be returning for sure.

Our happy place
We have stayed at Casa de la Era many times before and have always immensely enjoyed our stay. My daughter who is now 9 always asks to return and my mother describes this beautiful hideaway as a 'magical' place. The villa itself is clean, spacious with two bathrooms, perfect for a family of 4 but the beauty itself is the wonderful gardens and pool area. We always feel so safe and private here, nothing is ever a problem and the lovely Janet and her daughter Katie are always so helpful and welcoming to this wonderful oasis. We love the surrounding area, the local village Orgiva has everything we need and the coast only being a 30-40 minute drive away. The perfect holiday to hide-away and completely relax. We'll be back in 2017! Clare G
