Positive: location and space

The location was very good for us: Ruoholahti metro station is just a few steps from the building (although the metro stops at Kamppi this summer due to works but it still gets you very fast to town centre). By foot it's less than half an hour to the central train station / town center in general, to the sandy Hietaniemi beach or to enjoy a beautiful seaside walk in Eira. Fixed priced taxi from the airport to this address is cheap. At the address, taxis are usually available just a few steps from the front door. Excellent supermarket just across the street (open 24/7 plus another supermarket and other services next to it). A walk to Tallink ferry was 20 minutes across Jätkäsaari which was interesting to see. There is a nice looking waterside terrace bar just behind the block although we had no opportunity to try it. The one bedroom apartment was spacious with many cupboards. It was nice to have a balcony (mostly in shade which is good to keep the apartment cooler) and a small sauna. We appreciated the working desk and a good wifi, the washing machine and a good fridge with a freezer. There were several kitchen gadgets like a nice temperature adjustable kettle. Dishwash liquid and tablets for the dishwasher were provided (unlike for washing machine, see below). The large dinner plates needed hand wash as they were too large for the dishwasher - unfortunately there was only one breakfast plate left so the large plates were needed often. For the location and the space, we might consider coming back but I would expect some corrections.

There are several things that could be improved, in particular considering the price of the place: The number of bed sheets, towels and toilet rolls for 2 people staying for about 3 weeks was ridiculously small (3 single sets of sheets and towels: two in use and one for change so only one of us could get a change while the other had to wait until one set was washed). Luckily we had brought a small bottle of laundry detergent with us as none was provided. Alternatively you can ask for an "extra" change of sheets for 30 euros! The small towels were very small for hand towels but the bathroom was so hot that they dried relatively well. We had to buy toilet paper, shower soap (only one tiny hotel-overnight-sized soap bar was provided), kitchen paper, cling film for storing food and a sieve as the kitchen lacked one (so it has one now). We brought our own toiletries anyway but a tiny bottle of shampoo and conditioner was provided. It think the quantities should be adjusted according to the length of the stay. The frying pans are no longer usable nor safe so didn't even try those - the extractor hood seemed so dirty that it was probably best no to fry anything anyway. Only two rings of the cooker functioned and there was no smoke detector in the apartment at all, although compulsory. Overall cleaning before our arrival had been good but there was a dirty rug in the bathroom that we put aside and the sofa was dusty and smelling of sweat and some of the cups and bowls in the kitchen were visibly dirty. The only cleaning equipment in the apartment was a bad smelling vacuum cleaner, a kitchen rag and a toilet brush. The apartment door wasn't properly locked until our last days when we had a visitor who pointed this out and fixed the lock setting. The host welcoming us there at the beginning should have noticed.

Top notch location to enjoy Helsinki

Everything was great with this flat located downtow except we got splitted beds. Very well located and functional.

We got two separated beds instead of a big one, that's a major bummer if you're travelling with your life partner.

very nice apartment with all the comforts; if needed, there is also a washer and dryer. really nice and accommodating owner. highly recommended even if not very close to the center: helsinki has extremely efficient public transport services

Exceptional

We arrived after promised time, but it was no problem for an employee of Gella and he waited for us a little bit longer. He gave us keys with all the information, we needed. The apartman was next to supermarket and really near to centrum. Thanks to this apartman, we had amazing time in Helsinki.

I recommend this apartment if you don't mind taking the metro (two stops to the train station).

A well-equipped apartment on the 5th floor with a sauna, two bedrooms and a separate bathroom and toilet in a tranquil neighbourhood with a beautiful canal view. Close to the metro station Ruoholahti.

We couldn't find a garbage disposal storage.

Good

The location was very good, easy to get to the center on foot or just walking around. There is an elevator straight to the supermarket below which is very convenient. The bed and apartment are clean, and the apartment super quiet. Great balcony, but was a bit cold to sit there.

The kitchen facilities pretty old but working. The fridge makes kinda of disturbing noise at night. The cleaning appears to be weekly, so be aware of possibility stucking with the same towels all week. A little bit of extra basic items will really improve the stay - more shampoo, soap and towels for the shower and a bit of coffee, milk and sugar at kitchen would be appreciated. The last thing, we got the first cold week in September and the heat was still off, so it was pretty cold when out of bed...

Chilly Helsinki

Great location, not in the city centre but only 10 minutes on foot. Apartment was clean and fully fitted. Coffee shops around the neighbourhood.

Maybe another set of pillows would help, they were too soft for me. Heating wasn't powerful enough for the temperatures in Helsinki (-11 and windy).

Great value for money, except for the beds

Picking up the keys was quick and easy, as the office was only 10 minutes walk away from the apartment. The apartment was very clean and quiet, and the location was nice. The staff was very helpful.

The exact details, such as the location and equipment of the apartment should be more clearly presented before booking. However, the staff was kind and helpful about it, when I called them to make sure the location met our needs. As we traveled for work and used the apartment mainly for sleeping, the biggest issue was that the beds were quite worn out and - as my spouse described - felt like sleeping on a trampoline. With better beds the rating would be much higher.

Most wonderful place to stay in Helsinki with great hosts to support your needs!

Hosts, Pekka, et. al were marvelous and answered all our questions associated with the jitters of traveling, lessening the stress of the unknown. The facility was superbly located near ground transportation and the neighborhood was great with restaurants and convenience stores nearby! The best place for me was the sunroom/balcony where you could watch the goings-on in the street below. This property is the place to be when you're in Helsinki!

The bed I was in (3 bedrooms) was big enough but already a bit well-worn and sagging. I'm quite on the heavy side and had developed a little backache from a bed that sinks and does not support the body...otherwise, the rest of the beds and facilities are top-rate---with the bathroom having its own sauna to boot!

• At the beginning of a beautiful tree lined street,next to a leafy park and 2 min walk from tram stop • Quiet building with a big entrance yard • Nice balcony view • Well equipped kitchen • Landlord was very helpful and kept my luggage upon I checked out and before my departure flight

• Twin beds instead of a double bed-(( • Mattress was really uncomfortable....
