The location was perfect and the price was affordable
The construction going on was distracting and with said construction/renovations the hotel has lost much of its charm

The hostess was great and went above and beyond!

I booked a cabin type room... the built-in furniture is perfect; it has plenty of space to store lots of luggage. Beautiful brass hooks to hang clothes as well as a quality mirror, spanning the length of the room. The bed is very comfortable; I've stayed at many other hotels at that price range, and the sleep quality doesn't compare. It had an air conditioning unit and a fan, with a well organized set of switches with their own light for finding them at night. Bathrobe and towels were clean and stain free. The shared bathroom on the third floor is elegant with plenty of hot water.
A big part of it is under construction. Some walls are covered in plastic, and I can see why. The whole place is dusty. The air conditioning unit's filter light was on, and filthy, which is unacceptable.

Location was only good thing, it was a building site and very noisy with no facilities
It was a building site, very noisy and dirty

L’emplacement
En plein travaux, pas de bruit mais des ouvriers dans l’espace salle de bains/toilettes partagé et tous les espaces commun fermés
Vu la petitesse des chambres => aucun espace pour se poser

Stayed here a few years ago and loved it - a very unique hotel in the West Village and the staff is always friendly so I came back again, but unfortunately the overall condition during the renovation is not pleasant at all
Not sure why they are still running during renovation, everything is closed and the only available rooms are the small cabins with shared bathroom, the room is very noisy even from 7am, the bed is uncomfortable, the room feels dusty and I unfortunately allergic to dust, the shared bathroom is terrible - it is shared for both male and female and it stinks a little, plus the shower is only hot. Also, the price does not justify the whole condition — for almost 200 usd, can get a better room somewhere else

I liked only the location
the room was very tiny, with no running water (sink) and very little space. my floor was undergoing construction and it was unpleasant

While the room was small it was well-proportioned and had plenty of storage.
Wish I had a private bathroom. That said, the bathrooms were clean and the towels really nice.

Room very very small

The place was under remodelation but we never heard about this before we came. I had previously stayed at the jane and the difference was abismal, no bar, no restaurant and everything seemed so dirty, there was even a strong smell in the room and the aisles. We where even worried we would catch something by sleeping in those rooma.

Friendly and approachable staff
Construction disruption and noise starting at 7.30am.
I experienced the same issue on a previous stay.

The cabins are small, but I didn't mind the size as a solo traveller. The bed was comfortably firm, the staff were helpful, and check-in and check-out were both simple and straightforward.
The Jane is currently under renovations, and there was a lot of construction noise from 7am. It quietened down after the first few days, but beware of that. Also walked in on a homeless person or two in the communal bathroom...so also keep that in mind.

I liked that the my room and the rest rooms were as I remembered them. They were very clean and met my needs. I liked that in spite of the work being done on the hotel it still had the same character which is part of it's great charm.
I was disappointed to find that there was no longer any acces to the restaurant and lounge areas that we had enjoyed so much on a previous visit some years ago.

The staff was okay. Only that a golden necklace with a medallion that was left in the room disappeared.
The deafening noise during working days from early morning on. The renovation work resounded all over the place at its worst when they were drilling our wall and crushing cement with a sledge hammer in the adjoining room and hollering to each other. The hotel had announced that "there may be some noice from this work" and "will have a minimal impact on your stay"...

it was affordable and conveniently located. I was also interested in the history of the hotel and the distinct/vintage look.
Since parts of the hotel are being converted to a private club, most of the hotel was blocked off & under renovation. It definitely took away from the ambiance of the hotel

Great value, charming
The room is quite small, just be aware when booking.

Location 10/10
The people working there are kind and cooperative.
Shared bathroom was hardly occupied which was super nice.
All in all, it can be said that the hotel is perfectly fine for people who leave in the morning and come back in the late evening.
The whole hotel is under construction at the moment. It has to be mentioned that they inform their customers about these circumstances in advance. However, it was always very loud in the morning (weekdays).
As we are talking about New York, the price per night was good (about 110$/night). Nevertheless, I am in two minds when it comes to price-performance ratio as one can only use their own bedroom and the shared bathroom. All other rooms are closed.

the location of the hotel was excellent
the construction going on in the hotel greatly disturbed our stay. The rooms smelt of cigarettes and were very cramped. There was often noisy guests blaring music.

Walking distance to fabulous Greenwich Village, with a charm to the budget hotel with a nautical theme. Rooms are boat cabin style, small quarters, but well maintained. Common bathroom seemed well cleaned and equipped the entire stay. It is New York so all prices seem high, but this one for location seems okay for the price.

Great location in Chelsea.
Renovation is underway at the property. The construction areas are well marked, which is good.

The location is fantastic, being so close to the new Highline park, and some lovely pubs and bars a very short stroll south, or Washington Park and the touristy sights a very short walk to the east.
When i stayed, the building was still mid-rennovation, so a bit of light turmoil there, but the bathrooms, room, lobby etc were all spotless.
I was looking for a stay that was a bit different, and got it.

location near the Whitney and High Line, great bargain, charming and cosy little twin bunk room with a neat view. the shared bathroom is clean though it is co-Ed.
in November 2022 the ballroom and rooftop bar closed. it’s being remodeled into a private club. Theres no coffee in the lobby. they need to update their info.
