Clean, friendly staff, updated furniture
Beds are not very comfortable

The front reception were very friendly and we were checked in quickly. The lobby is very attractive with the fireplace and furnishings.
The king bed was comfortable. The television was easy to operate.
I use to love the Matrix and it was always my favourite place to go to for work. However, the furniture and room is now worn down. The towels are old and thin. Although the mattress was comfortable it too is in need of a new one.
Breakfast use to be included and now it is 18.00.

The staff were absolutely the best, they accommodated my request for a birthday amenity for my boyfriend and he absolutely loved it. Location was great too as it's very close to everything

The yummy prosseco and chocolates in our room upon arrival
The use of robes and slippers.
I was a bit upset to see the wine tasting and snacks not be apart of our stay as well as a stocked fridge and snacks. That was a great convenience for us.
And having to pay for breakfast as well.
We've been staying at The Matrix since 2015 so all of this was a surprise. While things there were good I'm not sure if we'll return, those little extras is what made The Matrix hotel unique and what attracted us to it.

Clean rooms, great breakfast with lots of choice, close to Alberta legislature and parks
Can’t think of anything

I’ve stayed here many times and it’s great! Location is perfect too.
Matrix has really cheaped out compared to what they used to offer - no cocktail reception (just a glass of wine) and one of the elevators still has incorrect info on signage! How does a hotel manager let that slide? Super lazy and lack of attention - it actually baffles me!

Location and Starbucks on site
Beginning to look run down

The staff was great, breakfast was very good. The room itself had basically everything you need.
I was quite surprised that there was no main light in the room, so it was a little bit dim in the room.

Clean ! The executive suite is amazing. Also after checking out they had a bouquet of red roses for me with chocolate and Gatorade. Highly recommend.

Quiet air conditioning and room. Good blackout curtains. Bathtub in room. Breakfast cost under $20.
Costs should be more accurately represented. Parking additional $30. This is almost 25% of cost of room. Additional tourism taxes charged by city(?). Then at check-in I was told free drink at 5pm and breakfast at 7:30am. I understood this as both complementary. Stayed to have breakfast at hotel in morning only to find out after having eaten that I have to pay for breakfast. I see now that the way they deliberately worded the info about breakfast gives impression it is included. Frustrating experiences.

The meals and staffs in the dining area.
The staff in the reception when we got there. Can hear the people walking down the hallway, paid parking space which is too much for only 1 night

•the STAFF! Debra & the lovely girl with the colorful hair (so sorry I’ve forgotten your name)
•the RESTAURANT! Arnel, Corinna & Retial in the evening. Sophia, Jerilyn & Raymond in the morning. The complimentary breakfast is like nothing you’ve seen and the complimentary glass of wine in the evening followed by a fantastic meal absolutely made our stay. Thanks for spoiling us and we look forward to seeing you all the next time we find ourselves in Edmonton!
The suites are fantastic but it’s the people who make the property!

friendly staff
I got food poisoning from the wings at the EnVie restaurant.

Staff are excellent.
I could hear children playing, screaming, yelling, etc, in the next room, as well as the dog barking which made it a lot less relaxing. Obviously can't blame anyone for children being loud but soundproofing would be beneficial.

very clean, staff were super nice!
You can hear everything in the halls/through the walls. Soundproofing would be beneficial

the rooms were small

Paid $25 for parking fee so disappointing.
After a long day need to set codes to watch a TV, seriously not so impressive.

Location: close to places we wanted to go to, Avis/Budget car rental is around the corner.
Hotel: Rooms are clean and nice, beds are comfortable, in suite coffee is very good,
Amenities: the breakfast (included) was very good and a great way to start the day. It had been a few years since we had to stay in downtown Edmonton. The last time, we had stayed at The Matrix and loved it. This visit did not disappoint! We would definitely stay there again!
There were no dislikes about the property in our group.
4.1
The staff was very comparative
the location in the downtown centre
They hotel have only 2 elevators and one of them was alll the time broken down

This is my favourite hotel in Edmonton so far. Nice lobby, comfortable lounge and more importantly, comfortable room.
Not big, but big enough and finally a bed that wasn't too soft and an aircon/heating that wasn't too loud.
The only thing that irked me was the excessive 'premium' wifi charge, which now seems to be the standard?.
4.1
great location clean
the elevator closes on me twice hurting my arm and spilling my coffee. I thought I rented a suite with a hide a bed but that could have been my fault.
