They tried to put me in a room that was not finished being renovated after I waited 15 minutes in the lobby waiting for the employee to return to the front desk.

I always stay here when I can. It has reasonable rates and an excellent location for sub and bus transport. Eg. for a stranger like me who stays out late to events that I attends; when you coming home late at nights, you can hop straight off the train and into your gates of the hotel without having to walk what might be dangerous distances at night. They have now introduced security ,I don't know if it's because bad things happens there at times, but for my short stay I felt more safe with them being there, and they were quite respectful towards me. The attendance staff was also very cooperative towards me.
This year for some reason, room service never came unless you requested it, which could be a good and a bad. on the good some people don't like to be disturb so they would stay away unless you call them; on the bad if you are staying for days you might have garbage piled up and not being removed, or towels not being renewed etc. But the two main things I didn't like was the room I got this year had the same over sheet on the bed that was used to advertise the hotel some 20 years ago, and it was itching me for some reason. The other thing is the way your stay funds are collected. They pretends that they don't have a Card machine so they can charge you whatever they feel like each night and it must be cash. I didn't understand after I gotten a flat overall rate from booking.com how come I was not allowed to pay for all the nights one time, instead of raising the rent on me each night. And from my ordinary understanding you don't raise the fees on someone inside a building that is already occupying it under one agreement. so I never liked this game, they were playing. cause this also caused another problem in that I 'm staying there for days, but because they won't take all the money one time for all the nights; if I am on the road and never got back for two o'clock, my things would be removed from the room. If I was not in the hotel I could understand paying what ever the fee is for that night when I come; but It was like I am living there but every night I have a different rate. Their excuse was the rates go up because it's the holiday weekend. Even if the rates go up,I am already in the building with a fixed price from a booking company; this behaviour would make the booking company look like liars on their agreement pricing.

It was filthy, the mattress and sheets were stained with what appeared to be blood. They did not change the sheets when asked.
The room stank of cigarettes and the smoke alarm was ripped out of the ceiling. I could go on.
