Staff was very attentive. I called ahead with a special request and upon my arrival everything was ready. Also, anything I requested during my visit was promptly taken care of.

Location is great. Right on the bay.
Extremely dirty. Our room smelled like mildew. Shower curtain was yellow/orange and smelled like moldy towels. When we went to the hot tub one night there was trash everywhere. Even a large piece of bacon (yes bacon) right next to the tub. Dishes everywhere that hadn’t been cleaned up so birds also constantly diving down for food and spreading trash everywhere.
No elevators to our room. So had to haul our 50 on suitcases up 2 flights of stairs?!? Not sure how that is even legal to not have an elevator.
Also no service at the pool except one day? Service at the restaurant was extremely slow mid afternoon on a Friday. Took 30 mins for 2 martinis. They claim this is a resort and even charge a ridiculous daily resort fee, yet 1000% is not a resort.

The location of the hotel is great, the room was very large with kitchen facilities, all the staff were friendly and the pool was great.

The grounds were beautiful and the location was perfect. It sides on the bay side which would be great for parents with little kids. For our teens, the ocean side was a simple 5-7 minute walk.
The rooms were a tad out dated but clean.

Love Catamaran's location. Been visiting the spa for years when we rent a house nearby so decided to book a room here while my daughter and I were in San Diego.
They are doing construction in the tower - which is great because the suites are run down. We woke up to drilling at 9AM each morning. Do not book unless you confirm that there is no construction going on.

The front desk staff, Hannah (if I'm not mistaken), was very nice to take care of the booking issue during check-in. I booked for 4 but in the Catamaran's system it was only 2 guests booked which only gave us a room with only 2 guests can sleep. The location is excellent and the view from our suite (1151) in the 11th floor was perfectly overlooking the bay with views of the ocean as well. The staff at the restaurant were doing a great job. The staff at the boat and other rentals were also very helpful and had great attitudes. Overall, except the expensive room rates plus resort and parking fee, it's a great resort to stay to have fun for the family and relaxation.
The room rates are definitely too expensive for an obviously aging look and feel of the hotel. Although, I know beforehand that parking and resort fee will be charged, I think it should be eliminated. I think most people doesn't really use all the resort amenities during their stay. Unless if they're giving people free access to boats, kayak, bikes, Bahia Belle cruise, spa, etc. Then a resort fee and overpriced room rates is fine but we have to pay for these so called hotel amenities and services.

Beautiful- reminded us of Maui.
A little loud. Definitely at the mercy of neighbors to be thoughtful after 10pm and pre 8am. Had a loud group above us one night then loud early risers who liked to socialize on porch next to room. But what can you do really. Just the layout of the hotel.

Location was nice, hot tub/pool was clean and well maintained.
The staff was below standards, uninformed of policies (ie check-in times, kitchen availability, hurricane response). Some front desk personnel were rude and dismissive. If you think that I’m being overstated due to the storm events, I ask you as management to do this: Call from an outside phone and ask for the front desk, after your exchange, ask yourself- “Am I happy that this front desk represents my business in the way that I am satisfied, and does it attract customers to really want to stay here and not anywhere else?”
We were given incorrect information, and when we challenged the response, the front desk either ignored us or had to verify with each other that we were correct.
The price from Booking.com was more expensive than if we directly booked with the hotel.
I have been a loyal customer to the Catamaran Resort each time I visit San Diego with my wife, this most likely will my last time staying at this place, There are many more accommodations that offer better quality in reception processes, food choices and other amenities at lower prices.

I am a Hawaii Resident, so I felt at Home at the Catamaran Hotel. Grounds are well kept, lots to see and take pictures of. Our room was in the tower and had all that you'd need to have a great stay.
Additional Rest Rooms closer to the Beach. We had to walk far to use the bathroom is we were not in our room. Ladies room at pool was locked most of the time.

Our sliding door don’t completely shut. We spent a bunch of time trying to fix it. We asked front desk to fix it and it doesn’t appear anyone came to fix it and no-one contacted us with followup.
Was surprised for the price what the bathroom looked like.

The location and grounds were fabulous! Reminded us of Hawaii. Adjacency to the bay and beach fantastic. Water sports and restaurants were great. The mobile concierge system was very responsive and convenient. Loved that feature.
The rooms are sooooooooooooo dated!!! The bathroom shower tiles disgusting and unable to be thoroughly cleaned. We had to change out our shower mat because it had mold/dirt on it. When we showered the pipes rattled and made loud noises. For the out the door price with parking, taxes, resort fee etc. of over $600 per night I really expected much more out of my room. Definitely suggest a remodel on the rooms sooner than later!

Breakfast was food was great the server the first day was exceptional but the second day was total opposite.
It appeared that they were very short staffed.

We love the ambiance of the Catamaran. We’ve stayed here before. We like the options of activities on site and near by. The location is ideal and there is a beach so close
Unfortunately, we were given wrong info about valet parking to self parking and were almost charged 2x because of it. We had to ask for our room to be cleaned and needed supplies. The restaurant was good but the servers weren’t very friendly.

Location is ideal. Resort grounds are beautiful. Rooms are older and bathrooms small and dated but still comfortable. Oceana provides excellent food and good choices of drinks. Staff is pleasant. The SPA is excellent and therapists are knowledgeable.
Full housekeeping service instead of towels replacement and trash disposal.

I loved the staff and location. The bar was great w fantastic service and people.
The Room Size

The resort location was excellent, the area of bay immediately outside the property was perfect for families with children. They also had several activities that the kids enjoyed i.e. movie night, crafts, daily "meet the parrots". The pool area was great too. When we did have meals at the resort we were always seated straight away, they offered a children's menu and the Morays bar will make a "Shirley Temple" for kids at request.
When we arrived at the property there seemed to be some issues with the type of room we had booked. We requested a "garden view" room but were overlooking the parking garage and dumpsters. The room was extremely dated and many thing were broken..closet door was off the tracks, shower constantly dripped, broken microwave..in fact the kitchenette was very old and we did not want to use anything in there..grime inside oven, etc. Electrical outlets not working and the room smelled. We complained and were told we would be moved the following day. The next day we went down to discuss moving arrangements and were told they had no record that we were moving room, the staff member I spoke to was quite rude about it and initially refused to believe that we had booked a "garden view" telling me we had a "resort" room. I showed him my booking reservation and he apologized and they did then honor our booking. I witnessed several angry guests..all seemingly with the same problem of not receiving the room they had originally booked. We dealt with 3 separate front desk staff and each one seemed quite rude and unhelpful. In fact, most of the staff (aside from the Oceana and Morays staff) seemed like they just wanted to go home, very unenthusiastic for their job. Once our room fiasco was resolved we did in fact enjoy our stay.

The grounds are beautiful.
Room was not clean when arrived. Bathroom was still dirty. Shower tile was a little moldy in some areas. Gross and old non slip tub matt was disgusting! Screen door to balcony was broken and unable to open without falling off the tracks.

The only good thing about the hotel was overlooking the bay. The Baja Belle cruise was booked at a special rate for guests which was worth it.
The hotel and the rooms are very old and run down. the beds were not comfortable at all. the pool area was crowded and not inviting. even the area in general wasn’t that great. very run down. The rooms are not being cleaned during your stay. they can vacuum and take away the towels or restock items only upon request. the only restaurant at the hotel was way overpriced and the food quality was really poor. it’s too bad because it’s overlooking the bay and the ambiance is great, but food is tasteless and very expensive.

The location is perfect and the beach access was great. The lobby had a lovely little river with koi and ducks, which was lovely. They had a coffee place that was expensive but good.
The rooms were dated and so old. Everyone we met in the elevator said their rooms were also very outdated. The couple in the penthouse told us "it's not much of a penthouse". In our room they squished in two queen beds, a table with two chairs, one of which you couldn't get to because it was behind other furniture. It was not a "suite" by any means. The kitchen was at least 30 years old. We couldn't use the balcony because the screen was broken. Even the lobby furniture was falling apart. Grout in the tile floor by the front desk was old and broken.

property was beautiful! Augusto our vallet was outstanding.
loved that it was right on the beach

I will not be staying there again in the future, due to the fact the first night I stayed there the toilet over flowed. The maintenance crew had to come in to fix the over flowing toilet as well as clean up the water all over the floor at 11:00 at night.
They then switched our room but it wasn't available until 4:00 pm the next day, there was no since of urgency from the staff or even any empathy for the situation.
The pipes vibrate horribly bad when you are taking a shower, which is also visible.
