I spent a week at the house with my husband and two sons. We absolutely loved it. The view is indescribable, you can just sit and watch the waves and the boats. The house is bigger than it looks and is warm and cozy. The heated floors were amazing. We ended up cooking a lot because the house is pretty far from most things, but the kitchen was well stocked and everything was clean. I could have spent the whole week inside, but it was a great place to come back to. Absolutely, loved it there. Thanks Malcolm!

We absolutely loved our stay. The views from the large windows of the sea and watching the ships come in was beautiful. The home is warm and inviting and had everything we needed for the week. Our trip to Ireland will be a special memory and our stay near the lighthouse added to the lovely experience.

Enchanting renovated cottage with immaculate, broad open ocean views amid historic lighthouse enclave. Elevated also along bluffs to north and south and into the harbor. One day of our stay was dominated by a powerful Atlantic storm with hours of gale force winds and gusts nearing 70 mph. The wave action that followed was epic — all viewed through the enormous panes facing the sea. (Thanks goodness they held!) The surrounding fishing and farming communities creat a lovely setting as to come to and from this spectacular place. Malcolm was a very helpful and gracious host.

We wanted to take that window home with us - what stunning views in all types of weather!! Just spectacular!!!

Malcolm’s place was more than we imagined! Aside from spectacular views, the house was spacious, very clean, and he provided everything we could possibly need. An added treat was all the vessel traffic that passed Roches Point headed to Cobh. We lucked out and got a tour of the lighthouse by Jimmy, the last lighthouse keeper and his associate Junior. Very kind and full of fascinating information. Bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely and modern. To sum it up - couldn’t be more perfect!! Thank you Malcolm!

This place was exactly as people describe - one of the most beautiful and stunning settings we've been too. Everything you want was provided by Malcolm and we would certainly be very happy and lucky to stay there again.

The location is so unique, and really unlike anywhere I have ever stayed. The house is very comfortable and well appointed for the most part. The kitchen is a little sparse but has all the important bits and pieces, just keep your cooking simple. Eating out is a long drive away, so you will be eating in unless you love driving 20 to 30 minutes each way multiple times per day. Overall, highly recommend!

Beautifully situated, comfortable and tastefully furnished house with a fantastic view of the open sea.

Like a scene from a movie, was my first impression of the property as it came into sight! And the lived experience was just as good.
9 days of peaceful beauty, watching ships come and go right beside us. Either from outside on the deck, or cosily behind the vast windows wrapped in a rug.
Malcolm kindly left some simple supplies to get us through the first night. We loved this place! Would come again.

All mod cons. Very comfortable.

The Roche's Point property was absolutely enchanting! My husband and I stayed there for 6 nights and each day woke up in dis-belief at the location, beauty, and uniqueness of this property. If you love lighthouses, the ocean, ships, and privacy, this sparkling clean location will surpass your dreams!
Thank you Malcolm and Gerrrie for sharing!

What a wonderful house in a beautiful location. Watching ships come and go was so much fun.
Very private location with the view that you just can't match.

From beginning to end we enjoyed our one week stay at Roches PT Lighthouse. I especially enjoyed rising early to watch the sunrise over the ocean, my husband enjoyed tracking the ship traffic. We enjoyed the privacy and quiet, the heated floors in the cool of the morning, the washer and dryer, and the shower. There were two of us but the cottage sleeps - and could easily accommodate - five. There is a separate sitting-TV room/library facing north but we spent all of our time in the south facing room with the ocean views. Conveniently located near Cork city and Cobh and to east Cork, Middleton, Shanagarry, and Ballycotton. We also took day trips to north and west Cork without any difficulty though be mindful of rush hour traffic when near Cork city.
All-in-all a great place to holiday. Thank you Malcolm and Gerrie!

We were lucky to stay in Roches Point during an Irish heatwave and my, was it one of the most beautiful locations possible. Perched on a promontory overlooking the entrance to Cork harbour, we truly felt we were holidaying in the Mediterranean. The terrace and living space was fabulous, we spent our entire week just relaxing watching the world go by. To be able to see all the boating traffic, from small fishing vessels, up to the large cruise ships, pass by was a great thrill, and certainly something we hadn't expected.
A previous reviewer had mentioned that the photos don't do the house justice, and I would have to agree. The location is great - just beside the lighthouse, the living and sleeping quarters are perfect - great size, very comfortable, and all mod cons provided. We were unfamiliar with this part of Cork but we were very impressed. There is lots to do, the local beaches are nice, Middleton is close by, Cork city is easy reach, etc, etc. But really, you'll probably just stay close by the house as it's perfect for a relaxing holiday. We will certainly return in the future.

This property was even more amazing than the pictures show. Malcolm and Gerrie were perfect hosts! They bought us an essential supply of groceries because they knew we didn’t rent a car. We enjoyed watching the boats come in and out all day and the sea birds. We did leave the cottage twice but we didn’t need to. There was always something to watch sitting on the back deck. We’re looking forward to going back!

Gosh this place is enchanting and the location is mind blowing. Malcolm was incredibly quick to communicate with and generous with his local knowledge and tips. The lodge was immaculately clean, very warm and had lots of kitchenware so you can cook and eat at home which I appreciated. Definitely will be back, thank you sincerely, Malcolm.

Absolutely stunning views, beautiful and spotless house. Only 40 mins to cork and so much to do and see in small towns such as Middleton. Hope to be back someday.

This is the most wonderful place imaginable. The views are incredible, lovely sunsets, the ships going back and forth into the harbour are fascinating but unobtrusive. The place itself is spotless, expansive and well stocked. The best part was the people, Malcolm the owner was very helpful and the neighbours and lighthouse keeper were incredibly kind and welcomed us to their special world. Cannot rate this highly enough.

We've stayed in lots of great properties over many years and this one has to be one of the best we've ever been to. Malcolm was an absolute pleasure to deal with and made the entire process incredibly easy for us. The house was spotless, warm and very comfortable. Constant hot water, fabulous shower, comfy beds , heating on demand if required. All mod cons, but the main event is undoubtedly the location, right next to the lighthouse in one of the most picturesque corners of Ireland. The sea views from both sides really have to be seen to be appreciated and the layout of the property perfectly maximises that feature. The front faces Cork city and has beautiful views of Cork harbour and its gorgeous shoreline. At the back, the kitchen/ dining room with its huge picture window and external deck has a mesmerising ever changing view of the Atlantic, of the wider Cork coastline and the local wildlife. The courtyard, beautifully appointed,is perfect for protecting you from the elements on the inevitable windy days that you get given the location. 2 bathrooms and 3 good bedrooms on the other side of a long corridor complete the picture and make for a perfect holiday home from home. We couldn't have been happier.
It wasn’t a problem for us, but potential visitors should be aware that there are no pubs, shops or restaurants near the property .4 km into Whitegate for shops and a pint and further into Aghada to Rosie's bistro for food. Highly recommended for top quality pub food and service. For our general sustenance, we chose to buy excellent quality local veg and eggs from honesty stalls on the roadside (really!), and took the easy 40 min drive into the fabulous English market in Cork on 3 separate days, to stock up with the very finest of ingredients and wines for sublime home cooking. We also listened to a podcast detailing letters written on the Titanic by both victims and survivors on that first fateful trip and we could literally visualise her anchored in her very last (but one!), stationary position, just a stone's throw from where we were now sitting. There is a great photo of her with hundreds of happy people on deck, anchored as she waited passengers from Cobh to embark and remarkably you can see Roche's Point lighthouse and even the house itself, in the background...fascinating stuff.
We also took 3 easy day trips to Kinsale, Clonakilty and Ballycotton all of which we know well and love dearly.
Thanks again Malcolm for everything we had a ball
