Great Location, safe area of town, heater worked as intended (although the door to controls repeatedly fell off), good sized areas to keep personal items off the floor, in-room appliances worked well. Bathroom was easy to warm up within a couple of hours, and there were plenty of clean, amazingly soft towels.
There was only one very dim lamp for the entire large room, and it was in a corner. Too dark to see things you dropped on the floor, too dark to read, too dark to look for items in any personal luggage that was not in the bathroom areas, and way too dark to determine if the main room was clean. Large gap under the door let in smoke from nearby fires, and the sound of howling dogs nearby (all night long). We stayed during a multi-state trip, and compared to other hotels we used, the sheets were really stiff and uncomfortable, and only 2 pillows per queen sized bed compared to 3 in other places in same price range and brand.

On the main street.
Had to go to another hotel to check in as this one is in transitioning.

the hotel is right on the road, older but quite clean and well cared for.
Due to covid, there was zero staff at this location. we had to go down to block to another hotel to check in/out, and have breakfast.

we had to check in at another motel and didn’t know until we saw the note on lobby door. So no staff

Choice of lodging is not great in Springerville/Eagar but the El Jo is a reasonably good place to stay. One surprise was that the reception was closed, forcing guests to go to its sister motel Rode Inn down the street to register. Not a big problem, but unusual and unexpected. We had a quiet, clean room on the top floor in the corner of the "L" shaped building near the laundry, but I imagine there is more noise in the rooms facing the street. There is a great restaurant right next door, the Safire. Cleaning staff were accommodating. Wifi was good. All in all, not a bad stay and we would do so again.
No ice machine. Room needs a better computer chair and a comfortable 2nd chair.

Room was set up for disabled and I'm not disabled. It was clean, pleasant, everything worked, it was quiet, TV was great, bed firm just as I like it. I parked right in front. Breakfast was even good.
Arriving at 4pm there was no one in the office, a sign advised me to go back down the street a block to the "sister motel" to register. Once there everything went well, and I returned there the next morning for breakfast. Only one complaint- the young man at the counter was polite but unable to give me simple directions in a town of 1,951 residents. Imagine being that geographically challenged.

Closest (25 miles) from where I wanted to be.
Very basic food services in town (breakfast in Eagar was ok).
$100 -- 2 years ago we paid $46 next door.... and a flyer: "short on personnel, plz accept that we will not make up your room [daily}... put trash outside yourself, come to office to exchange towels...

The staff was very friendly and nice. The rooms were very clean and I liked that there was a restaurant on the property. The staff was very nice at the restaurant and the food was very good. The motel was located close to everything.
The first night I was there they forgot to clean my room the next day but were apologetic. There was no hair dryer in the room, luckily I brought my own. Being and older motel the floors are noisy.
3.5
Comfortable room.
Heat lamp in bath not working and smokers and cigarette butts all around the door ways.
