Beautiful properties and garden.
No maintenance and very dirty. Bundles of dust and disgusting dirt between mattress and the wall. Expect bugs in the room.

Breakfast was average ... little above a Holiday Inn breakfast.
For two days (out of our 6-day stay) breakfast was sketchy...One day the cook didn't make anything above the
"first" batch ... food ran out at 8:30 am when breakfast was susposed to go until 10.
One another day the cook just left during breakfast. A management person grudgingly came to open the kitchen for
coffee then promptly locked the door.
See above. The general tone of workers seems to be "It's beyond my control" or "It's not my job" of "I don't know". Very disappointing for a guest who is paying a premium price for the "experience" that never happened.

Great breakfast, staff super friendly and available 24/7, access to all yoga courses, fire pit during evening, size of the facility is good (not overcrowded), pool and sauna opened 24/7
the price is high end compared with the size of rooms (we were 4) and the quality of beds

eric was super sweet and nice!
this “retreat center” is located a bit far away from the beaches in maui, close towards the mountains, hence retreat center, so if you are more of a city person this might not be your place, the rooms are bit small and has pretty much no noise block, you can hear your neighbors pretty clear, no ac(big no for me), the showers pretty cool though, and a lot of bugs, so you can decide for yourself if its the place for you

It is nice that breakfast was provided daily, but a little more of a rotation in the menu would have been nice. We were pretty much served the same food for a week.
We wish there were more food and snack options available on the resort. The dinner was very average for the price (cost us $184) for two which felt a little high for the quality of the food. Food was good but not great and wasn’t worth the expense.

I read reviews on booking before deciding to stay here, and then made the mistake of looking at google reviews before I actually arrived.
Needless to say, they were wrong.
This place is FANTASTIC!
No, there is no AC, no television.
That’s the point of the place.
There are a variety of classes everyday. No, they are not all advanced yoga for champs. Again, that’s something you can do with the place though, can have your own advanced yoga retreat.
Yes, the staff IS wonderful! They all offer suggestions on things to do and see. They are all kind. They are all chill.
Yes, the place is clean. But there are plants and animals abound, feral chickens and cats, snails, lizards. And the wind blows. Sometimes there are leaves blowing about. Often times there are rainbows.
The views are magical. You can see both sides of the island from the hill where the retreat sits.
There is always a soft rustle in the abundant trees on the property. There is plenty of shade to avoid being overheated. (Caveat, I visited in November, so I can’t speak to summer months.)
I found the place quiet, peaceful, restorative. Exactly as advertised.
Highly recommend massage with Tanmayo. She is incredible!
The pool and hot tub are wonderful. Great location - love the wall of shrubbery making the space very private.
I will return, as often as i can!

- Place is peaceful
- Pool and jacuzzi
- Yoga and related classes
- Wooden Crate (restaurant). It has a delicious pre-fixed menu that changes daily. They adapted beautifully to vegan/vegetarian restrictions.
- Decoration
- Rooms are not cleaned every day. It is only cleaned every 3 days upon request if you stay long enough.
- It doesn't have A/C. Given the height of the place, it is mostly fine. You have a roof fan instead.

The breakfasts were good, and the dining experience at the restaurant (Thursday-Saturday) was fabulous! I enjoyed the yoga class that I participated in, the grounds and accommodations were beautiful and entire environment was peaceful and calming. The staff members were all lovely and very helpful.
Unfortunately, a couple of the yoga classes were canceled because the instructors fell ill with no replacements.

Nice and quiet. Civilized guests.

Staff, especially John was incredibly helpful and friendly. Breakfast was mediocre, room was large, but the walls are pretty thin, so garbage trucks and leaf blowers woke us in the early am.
Breakfast was a wee underwhelming. Pretty noisy at times.

Some of the other guests were loud in the dining area. Alcohol was likely the cause. Other guests were loud after quiet hours. We hoped for a bit more late evening calm at Lumeria.

Loved having a more chill vibe and getting away from the crowds. It was a great place to stay if you want to spend some time in this side of the island. The staff were great and the place was beautiful.

This is one of the most calming places I have ever stayed - I loved it so much I would absolutely consider coming back to Makawao just to stay here! The rooms were spacious and clean, the meditation areas and hammocks were wonderful, and we had a great experience. John was very helpful with getting us checked in and Shane in the kitchen was fun to chat with - no complaints!

John was the best. Super helpful and friendly. Classes were helpful to relaxation and fun. Close to most things we wanted to do. Good location.
Nothing. Everything was great.
