The location was great. The staff was friendly and helpful.
The room was very small, but it was comfortable enough. It was fine for 1 person just coming into sleep and spending most of the time out of the room.

Parking location. Bed frame sticking out dangerous! Too much for what you get

Good bed and great location. Coffee and snacks freely available.

Gorgeous lobby, easy walking distance to everything in Portsmouth, easy driving access to the ocean, rooms small but comfortable!
Was a little disappointed there wasn’t hot coffee available - there was warm nitro coffee that was delicious, but had to had some hot water to it for it to be hot.

The Ale House Inn has the same funkiness and amenities of other Lark Hotel properties. Location in Portsmouth is PERFECT - it’s at the center of everything. Shout out to James for being an AWESOME host. Also thanks to the manager at sister property The Portsmouth Inn for helping me extend my stay another night.
This is not a criticism, but the elevator being out (it was actually removed while we were there lol) was a but challenging. The manager and I joked about it though so it’s all good.

Location and convenient check in
Elevator was down and no discount or credit for that

the location, it was cute, the nitro coffee on tap was so cool!!
nothing, I will stay here next time I visit!

We liked the location and nitro coffee on tap. They also supplied us with a crib for our baby. The room was a bit cramped with the crib but not an issue overall.
The only bad thing would be how thin the walls were. I'm not sure how pleasant it was for other guests when our baby was crying (for like 20 mins before bedtime)

Staff were excellent and extremely welcoming. Great knowledge of the town and gave exceptional suggestions for eating and experiences.

Location was amazing. Loved being able to park across the street. Receptionist was extremely helpful. I especially liked the technology to check in.
Curtains and bathroom were a bit outdated.

Center of town, but not close to anything!?
Parking across the hotel, not so exorbitant rate.
Reasonable room rate for the clean&livable rooms ;
It is what to be expected; nothing to complain!
Old&small place on top of a restaurant and a gym.
Old, small, creaking elevator. No staff but ok.
View blocked by nearby buildings.

Staff were friendly, room was clean, comfortable with a lot of amenities, and the location was perfect.

The location of the Ale House is perfect. A few minute walk to downtown with plenty of restaurants, bars, shopping and anything else you would need. The room size was good (slightly on the smaller side but plenty enough space). Staff was friendly and helpful. This place exceeded expectations for the price, it was perfect. Will definitely return when staying in the area.
Bathroom was a bit on the smaller side but did the trick. Elevator is super slow.

The location was great and the room was a good size.
Electronic key which made it easy to check in.
Coffee and water easy to get in the lobby
No staff around to interact with if needed anything.
The brick walls in the stairwell had mold on them. Pretty sure I winded up getting sick from it.

Bed was very comfortable . Lounge area as pictured was nice. I found the complementary coffee on tap very interesting. Also had included an electric kettle for tea. The parking they offer is diectly across the street. Location is great for a very short walk to the shopping district. Boutiques, galleries and the like. Also good selection of nice restuarants nearby.

The location
The pictures on-line were deceiving. The small lobby area was nice, but the room was small and cramped. I called the number I had to say we would be arriving a little later than expected. The person said that was no problem. I did not receive check in instructions before arriving, so I wasn't aware that there was no main lobby and staff on duty when I arrived. It wasn't clear where to go or how to get in the building when we arrived. I had to call a number and get a code.

The lobby is fantastic! It has a lot of character not to mention nitro-brewed coffees 24/7 and snacks! The location near the river was perfect. The staff was very helpful, but not available in person all the time. The room was good, but not the best part of the hotel.
The room layout was strange: a person standing at the sink blocked the main doorway (it wasn’t in the bathroom).
Also, the historic building has very small windows so there isn’t any view.
